  1. Didn't say losing a replacement level player contributed to not making the playoffs. I said they didn't make the playoffs. I said they signed a guy to a 10 million dollar contract they didn't to, and then traded him for two hurt pitchers and a prospect (lets not forget they did the same with Farmer, but didn't or couldn't trade him), in what world is that a good move? Also didn't say signing Santana kept them from making the playoffs. You said "They lost nothing and gained nothing." My point on signing a 37 year old player and not making the playoffs cost prospect/younger experience and possibly put them in a position this year where they are still trying to figure out what they have with certain players. You know like everybody has aid about the starting pitchers they have signed in the past.
  2. The trade wasn't the worst, that is pretty obvious. The signing Polanco and trading him is one of the worst moves by this FO, with that said there is still a chance the minor league player they bought could change this outcome. Bringing in a 37 year old first basemen and not making the playoffs on top of the trade isn't losing nothing, they lost money/fans in the seats, and lost seeing what they have in prospects. They thought they had an asset that could help the team last year and in the future, and they as of now were wrong. (I have been saying this since the trade happened)
  3. Don't disagree that it is isn't the best stat, but since he came back to MLB, he has pitched in 102 games and has been given 11 chances to save a game, and in those 11 he has blown 5 of them. So it seems obvious to me teams don't trust him. My point wasn't about him making the team or not it was a response to you saying you had no clue why teams keep releasing him.
  4. Lopez had a 7.07 ERA in spring training last year and every starter had an ERA above 3.85, it is ridiculous to worry about your stars stats in spring training, unless of course there is an injury. My son said to me last night the Twins are hitting terrible just like last year, and I said we are 7 games into spring training can we settle down a bit.
  5. No Clue? Age, no options, and can't be used in high leverage situations (Last year he blew 40% of his save chances) and 50% the year before. Generally is just an OK pitcher that can be brought in for cheap and released.
  6. Personal trainer? probably no, but a physical therapist should be able to, there are many exercises that can strength the ankle muscles and ligaments and make them more flexible. I was rehabbing a double sprained ankle back in college and my therapist said if I continue to do the exercises even minimally I would never sprain that ankle again, and I haven't my other one I have multiple times but never put in the work required on that one.
  7. The released Castro because they didn't want to pay a utility player in a rebuild, IMO they were hoping he would be a long term SS(only played there in 19 and 2), in 21 they tried him at 2B, SS, LF and DH and was horrible. In 22 they played him everywhere and he was better, but rebuilding teams don't need to pay utility players. His time with the Twins (10 million dollars including this year) he has been a really good utility player but is exposed when given a full time position, also IMO anybody thinking he is good enough to be anything more than a super utility player will be disappointed. Reminds me when every opportunist Twins fan thought Nick Punto was good enough to be a full-time starter.
  8. Disappointment, less than expected, underwhelming or something like that, but Buxton isn't a bust. He is 23rd on the all-time Twins WAR ranking, He is 24th all time in steals (2nd in SB%), 17th in Homers (tied for 6th in AB per HR), top 40 in Doubles, 46th in Runs,
  9. Remind me again who won the NBA championship in 2021? Not sure that is little to nothing. The NBA is a bit different than baseball, it is a Star league and the one with the most/best stars win. For the last 13 years or so it has been a Curry/James league with a splash of Durant and Leanard. With those guys getting older, the NBA is just waiting for the next stars to step up. (Seems like Boston and .....
  10. I guess that depends on what you mean by history, I mean this team has won a couple of world series and made some good runs. Nothing in this FO tenure would I consider top 5 for me, but I am 50+. And in reality two of the last three years have been closer to the early 80's teams for me than the late 80's early 90's teams. 2019 home run race was pretty cool but that was also the start of me thinking Rocco wasn't a good manager and while he has improved I think his success will be in his second job.
  11. Gagne was in the majors at age 21, fulltime by age 23, Viola was in the majors at age 22 and got CY votes at age 24, Gaetti was in the majors at age 22 and fulltime by age 23, Martin is way closer to Kielty, Lew Ford, Danny Valencia then any of those three.
  12. Gagne was in the majors at age 21, fulltime by age 23, Viola was in the majors at age 22 and got CY votes at age 24, Gaetti was in the majors at age 22 and fulltime by age 23, Martin is way closer to Kielty and Lew Ford then any of those three.
  13. To me it seems like they have their mind made up on the 26 man and now are just seeing what they have and who can fill in here or there when there are injuries or even worthy of a 40 man spot. For example if Gasper can play anywhere but 1B for example, what good is it to keep him on the 40? I am believe Austin Martin might be playing to just continue his career, because if he can't be adequate all over the diamond there really isn't much of a reason to have him around.
  14. I tend to agree with you on this, because of the roster construction the Twins have. If I was running the Twins I would start EROD in left or right, whatever position he would be best at. I wouldn't bring up Keaschall until I had to, injuries, terrible play by others. IMO the biggest issue the Twins have is they really don't know what they have with WAY too many players, Will Wallner be adequate against LH? same with Larnach, Miranda, Julien, Lee and Lewis going to get better or not, that means it is hard to give another position to a rookie and let him learn the job on the fly and struggle. (Landford, Merrill, Chuorio, Volpe style) so they bring in mediocre vets and retard the younger guys. Very similar to what they have done with the rotation is SWR a legit rotation guy (don't care what number) if they believe he is, you can just put Festa in there and see how it goes, but since that really isn't an answered question you get Paddack and Festa most likely ends up in AAA and when he gets called up if he struggles he will probably go down and Matthews comes up, and if one of them doesn't secure the job, rinse and repeat in 2026.
  15. Why would you expect that? his minor league career is .397/.63/.760? with 76 SB while getting caught 15 times.
  16. IMO you can't coach where a ball is going to land that is natural instinct and repetition. You can coach footwork on a throw, how to get under a ball to throw, angles to cut off men and other stuff after you have gotten to the ball. But some people's brain just works faster than others, why are some people that are slower able to get to ball faster guys can't?
  17. Sometimes I don't get this site, Julien is 200 days older than Eeles and has MLB 709 plate appearances with slash of .235/.343/.399/.742 and he is done and Eeles is the future with 469 minor league plate appearances. I am not saying Julien he will make it or not or that Eeles won't end up with a better career. But I will say if the Twins would have held him out of the majors the last two years and he was putting up .900 OPS in the minors the same people saying he is done would be calling him the future.
  18. If the Twins can keep him in the minors this year and most of the next they will have accomplished never having to pay him market value in his prime and that is a good things for a mid market team. Good luck Mr. Marco!
  19. Because of Lopez, Ryan and Ober, why takes starts from them to give to lesser pitchers? Now if you said you wanted to keep those 6 pitchers and piggy back SWR with Festa for a while, that makes sense.
  20. There is a lot to like with this kid, but a 23 year dominating high A doesn't impress me any more than a 28 year old dominating AAA, that is what you have to do if you want to continue chasing your dreams. With that said those strikeout numbers and improvement in control there is no reason he can't become a solid major league pitcher. I can also see why Philly is going to make the Twins pay for a trade with him.
  21. I am in 100% agreement with YOU, how they build the roster, they continuing doing this to themselves. My comment was just about where they are today.
  22. Pitcher A 4.18 FIP, 2.1 BB9, 8 SO9, WHIP 1.39, ERA 4.99 Pitcher B FIP 4.12, 3.2 BB9, 7.9 SO9, WHIP 1.294, ERA 4.17 Pitcher C FIP 3.76, 3.2 BB9, 10.8 SO9, WHIP 1.32, ERA 4.9 Pitcher D FIP 5.71, 2.6 BB9, 10.1 SO9, WHIP 1.65, ERA 6.69 IMO, looks like Pitcher C was the best, Pitcher A and B very similar, The difference is Pitcher A is making 7.5 guaranteed, Pitcher B has one option and Pitcher C has multiple options. Was pitcher B orC so much better that a team is going to overlook 7.5 million? Was pitcher B or C so much better that a team is going to drop what is considered pretty good known depth(pitcher c) to completely unknown depth pitcher D? I am not a fan of Paddack, but under these circumstances I would tend to agree with giving him the opportunity to be in the starting rotation. Because with him gone and an injury the next men up are Adams, Matthews, Raya or Varland, and IMO that isn't ideal.
  23. Paddack will be given multiple opportunities to stick in the rotation, the Twins have proven this is their MO, I think SWR will be given a spot as well unless his mechanics fall apart this spring and using his last option also isn't how the Twins work, I think the Twins would use the IR before his option, because if they use his option this year and next year he still isn't good, they would end up just cutting him. (That also isn't how the Twins operate)
