Minnesota Twins Schedule | Minnesota Twins They just posted the broadcast schedule today. It looks like the TV broadcasts start on Twins TV March 16th. Just radio before that.

Oh please, won't somebody think of the Twins Daily poasters. 😂😉 I do expect they already know, Louis already knows and they are comfortable with the plan. What they communicate to us means next to nothing and it makes perfect sense for him to stay on the longer side of warmed up for a while. Work on specific things for the bullpen while not selling the farm at the start of camp. He's a long shot to break camp with the Twins but will have loads of chances still coming.

Make Or Break Players On The 2025 Twins: Brooks Lee
Jocko87 replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I’m not concerned about his ability to adjust to the majors and expect him to break camp as a fixture. You know how we say prospect development is not linear? He kinda has been so far. He has struggled immediately after every promotion but every month got better and better with the last month of 1.000 OPS prior to being promoted. His month to month progression is pretty funny to look at. Like chutes and ladders. It’s easy to forget he crushed AAA before he got called up. It’s even easier to forget he OPS .656 his first month in AAA after 1.000+ in AA the month before. He’s been in a whirlwind for 2+ years but he was born to play baseball at a very high level. I am bobo. -

Need some sunshine - bring on the boys of summer!
Jocko87 replied to thelanges5's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
If things go well with health and a couple youngsters taking a next step, they could potentially go into the playoffs with a large head of steam. It's a really, really good roster with a health problem. Everything is downstream of that. Hope springs eternal. -
Lots of comments about how the coaches can work with this but they’ve had this data and more for a long time. It’s just now being published so we can see it. The golf example is a good one for several reasons. We are just now seeing affordable consumer golf simulators that can measure what the pros have been working with for years. The instant feedback is fantastic for grooving and practicing feels. In both sports they are trying to maximize efficiency while still keeping the wear and tear of a redundant motion to a minimum. One of the main reasons golfers speed train for a faster swing is not because they will swing that hard all the time but because it raises the average cruising speed allowing more control at higher speeds. Same with baseball, a full effort swing would seem to tie in with more swing and miss. Here is a good example of what they are doing in golf. It wouldn’t take too much imagination for something like a driveline for hitters doing something similar. It’s probably happening already but the pitchers get most of the attention.

Very cool data but the real value will be a couple years out when the dataset is larger and more comparisons can be made. Not knowing what Buck has done traditionally is a bit of a hole for the comparison. I'd also be curious what the league averages are and how some hitters that got hot late in the season stacked up. It feels like it should decrease a bit for most hitters late in the season. What were they at leaving camp vs September?

This is the one I'm most interested in. All the others feel like everyone is going to get to play plenty and we hope someone will just take the job and own it. While that also applies at 1st base, I'm interested in who else they ask to take reps there. It's the spot they invested the absolute minimum on suggesting they have internal confidence but is it limited to these two guys? Much talk about Larnach and it seems like a very natural, obvious solution to me. I just had a random thought pop in my head-if Lewis and Larnach are offseason workout partners, and Lewis needed to work on his throwing-would Larnach not be his natural catch partner? Is it possible Larnach has been fooling around at first base already just to help his buddy out? Good spring training type question.

Except the entire design of the pitching pipeline is to get the best years under arbitration and let them go at 31-32. Ober and Ryan will serve out their arb time. As the pipeline improves, guys like Festa may be better candidates to control arb year costs but it's a tough business case to spend into the 30s if you can produce something in house. Lewis is the hitter to sign if they believe in him being the dude. He was actually quite happy with his arb number as Boras apparently had him expecting less. He has to produce steadily to get paid in arb and buying out a few years might make sense. His value is at the low point. Wallner might be buying low as well.

Interested to see where Keaschall plays defensively with two good arms. Would love to see him be able to play a functional centerfield.

I think Bader will play much more than we are hearing, for several reasons. Most days he's one ot the top 9 hitters even if it's 8 or 9. He'll already be in a lot of starting lineups with Larnach and Waller with the DH rotation. The platoon opportunities are dramatically decreased if he's basically a starter. Should Larnach play any first base he's a full time player. He's well ahead of Castro in the outfield rotation by my figuring.

Did the Pohlads have a change of heart?
Jocko87 replied to thelanges5's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I don't know about a change of heart but a pretty standard development of a year the team is selling and uncertain TV revenue. There has been a lot of mathing going on. It's been obvious from the beginning that whoever leaked the 130 number in the first place was never in a position to actually know what payroll would be. That person only knew the information they had been given to work with. -
What I'm telling you, now more plainly, is that you are effecting my and others ability to participate in meaningful discussions by hijacking every thread you engage in with unrelated material. One offhanded mention on a left handed hitter is not license to mainline platoon talk 101. Spoiler-there will be one of those in almost every article. What I read in your response is that you aren't too worried about others enjoyment of the discussion. As sure as you are that some find it entertaining I can be just as sure a greater number scroll on by, looking for backup shortstop talk. That's a shame.

That’s not remotely linked to the new information that a backup shortstop might be in consideration. Even if it was, it might be a top 20 item at best. Neither of you even gave a passable wave at the actual topic of the article. Accept the feedback with the love intended. Just like the editorial staff shoe horns self imposed into every possible article, you guys can slow down on mentioning that someone occasionally gets pinch hit for when you don’t like it. When you insist on your “bigger picture” in every conversation you actually obscure the details of the current detail picture the rest of us are trying to discuss. The entire board is well aware of your feelings on platooning and roster construction. Some articles are for zooming in, some are for zooming out.

Willi Castro As The Minnesota Twins 1st Base Fill-In???
Jocko87 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Getting paid as a 6 million dollar man requires it. Ref Vazquez, Paddock, Bader, Gallo et Al. -
How did this turn into a platoon discussion? Neither of these names excite me at all. This spot has to have a high carrying defense tool for this to make sense. If there’s a guy out there that’s glove only with options I’m interested. I’m not into a glove only guy that requires a full time spot. This is better filled through trade I would guess.

Twins looking at back-up infielders...
Jocko87 replied to Twins_Fan_in_NJ's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
With Bader and now this news it feels like Martin is on the outs. Maybe this is where a trade comes into play, I think I'd rather just get a very high level glove guy someone else can't find room for. MLB Network guys were joking that they should just give Ehire a glove and call it a day. -
But I'm reliably informed that there is no path to a passing grade this off-season. 🤣

Couple of guys who have been good at AA are not effected by the Bader signing. Not remotely. Everyone gets all focused on the vet in the way and ignore the kid not being very good. Yet. Bader effects Martin. That's it. Especially now that they don't have to shed salary to make it work. If you want a stars and kids roster, well, we already have that. The math isn't as simple as that guy signed for X, I want him.
-
In a feeble and probably futile effort to return to the topic the Pirates have signed Tommy Pham for 4m. Compare, contrast. Discuss minor leaguers in the minor league forum. Also, Dan Hayes has just reported that they are OK on money and shopping for a backup shortstop. So they don’t need to move any money for Bader. Discuss. I like it a lot now.
-
One does not “toy” with pitchers at any level with a 30% strikeout rate. We get it, you like him, but he’s boom or bust, you love him, but he’s not being challenged except he’s injured and at AAA at 21. If you are correct in your scouting that he’s just twiddling his thumbs in the minors because he’s to good for these nerds, we have a different problem. Personally, I haven’t seen that and I watch body language almost more than the baseball. It’s part of my partially unreasonable faith in Brooks Lee. There’s a lot to be excited about with Erod, but this move means nothing to him. There’s another forum for this discussion.
