Under this ownership you are correct.... BUT.... long term what if under new owners who understand you need to invest in a team?

A lot of comments defending the F.O. here, but I think this article is spot on. The owners haven't cared about winning the past 2 years and surely regret the Correa signing (simple because of the cost). When they are sending down a player a day before calling up their replacement -just to save a few thousand bucks - you think they won't send Dobnak away for free just to save a couple million? This ownership can't sell fast enough. I hope they do before they sell off everyone for whatever salary savings they can get. Money is literally the only thing that matters to them at this point.

Except I think we both know that under this current ownership - there will certainly be no significant 'buying' in the off season. I expect any salaries saved will simply go into their pockets and be happy to pay minor league guys for the rest of this year as we trade away our pending FA guys.

I've reluctantly resigned myself to accept that we are going to be sellers - and if we can get one of the above packages for either ONE of these 2 relievers - I expect we'll do it. This FO has made clear they don't value relievers as much other positions and can create them essentially at will out of former/failed starters. With that said - I'd really prefer if we can get a catcher who is ready to step into a part time role in 2026 and an unproven pitcher ready to try late inning work next year. Give our proven pen arms for unproven ones who have potential to produce next year. Let see if people will really overpay. BUT- DO not trade Ryan.

We've dreamed of having a controllable pitcher like Ryan since Santana - Why would we trade him for some prospects that 'might' work out. Would be really displeased if they made this move. Total rebuilds seldom work and just lead to multiple years of below .500 baseball. Would prefer to reload instead of rebuild. If going to sell - trade your pending FA (try to keep Bader?) for some AAA bats and try again next year.

Just this week, I finally dropped Lewis from my fantasy team - so I expect a great second half from him. I'd actually be ok with that!

I'd be interested in trading either Jax or Duran for prospects if we could then turn around and trade those prospects for hitting that would help us right now. It would be a tight needle to thread, but considering contenders are going to want the pitching but not give up major league ready hitters in exchange - its the only way it would work.

If we ever going to trade him, should be between now and this upcoming off season. He's still elite, but no longer possess the fire of the 104 mph fastball. His value is only going to go down from here. Choices are to either trade him, or watch his body continue to deteriorate. Relievers burn bright, but burn out fast. Would be sad to see him go, but if the topic of this article is accurate, I'd be ok moving on if they, in fact, are willing to overpay for him.

Financial stuff that I simply don't have the brain power to understand. Once we get talking about hundreds of millions of dollars - I kind of get fuzzy...🤔 With that said - whatever it takes to get the team sold to someone who actually wants to invest in the team, keep in in MN, and WIN, I'm all for it.

To me - this would be a very disappointing outcome. If we are actually considering resigning Vazquez instead of promoting from within, we need to trade for someone they are comfortable with at the major league level. Vazquez is just above pitcher level when trying to get a hit - at this point in his career.

I vote we use that last option on him and send him down thru the All Star Break to work out the kinks. Bring up Dobnak (who is bad, but is he worse than the current version of Ober?) - but at least he did look ok in his one MLB appearance this year. He would have maybe 2 starts? Short term pain with a possible passing grade for hopefully a long term better looking Ober post all star game break.

The only response I have to that is a loss by 15 runs counts the same as a loss by 1 run. With the currently playoff format - only need to get to the post season to make a run.

I think I'm in the minority here based on the comments, but for all the Rocco haters - do you really think ANY manager could lead us to a title when considering: 1 - Payroll limitations/ownership 2 - Injuries 3 - The current make up of the roster. Rocco has no input on 1 and 2, and only limited impact on #3. I would venture to guess there are ZERO managers available that could win a championship with the above restrictions/limitations. Is Rocco perfect - far from it, but just by changing the name on the manager office door doesn't mean they'll be any better because they'll still have the 3 above listed things keeping them from being as successful as they could be. Lastly, I really feel that we're simply in a holding pattern on everything - including the manager - until we see if this thing actually gets sold or not. Hopefully a decision on that will come sooner rather than later. Until then, on this and every other decision - we wait.

Would have loved to see the pairing of Mauer and Ramos as our catching duo - another loss in the trade column for our Twins.

I'm not a fan of trading prospects but I'd be open to it in fantasyland if they could pull it off. In addition could we give them other things, perhaps that new hotel just outside left field as well?

I think his development was stunted out of necessity of needing him to start last year before he was truly ready. He held his own with closely monitored starts so far in the majors. BUT - hopefully this is just a chance to send him down, get him reset and develop some of the things they would have addressed at AAA last year if they hadn't needed him at Target Field.

Glad to see him have some success. Felt he's been overlooked (appropriately based on previous year's challenges with offspeed pitches), since Walner was drafted - but good to see him producing some results for us. Hopefully this is only the beginning of things to come and he can get to the level where he was worth that first round pick.

It really just feels like we are in a holding pattern until the team is either sold - and we can: 1-Rejoyce, even temporarily at the potential of a changing of the old ways and the hopes of fielding a team that isn't focused fully on profitability, or 2: they announce that they are electing to not sell and we can really, really stop caring about the team.
