Yes! It absolutely makes sense that you want both a L and R handed hitting catcher on your roster. This position needs regular breaks, so to have the ability to simply play the one with the best matchup natually is nice to have. With that said - can't just throw anybody out there - they need an upgrade (or 2) behind the plate from today. But in a perfect world one catcher from each side of the plate would be ideal. Can't always make that work of course.

I think his luster has worn off too much to get what he's worth in a trade. Better yet- lets not worry about trades at the moment when we can get new players for nothing but money. Sign some pitching and give up nothing in free agency but money.

All this ace talk is kind of unrealistic. Just give me a solid #1, three #2 and one young guy who is ready to be a star. I think that would be better over a whole year compared to 1 true ace plus four #3-4 guys (which we already have minus the ace).

According to Google, the average MLB Athletic trainer makes about $62K per year. In comparision, the average NBA Floor Sweeper makes an average of $80K. I hope the F.O. doesn't try to save money with this hire and they overpay for a position that has been unable to keep us healthy for multiple years recently.

You're missing my point. I don't think Berrios is an ace either. However, for us he was a solid #2 guy. I don't care if we get a true 'ace' but would be pleased with five - #2 guys like Berrios instead of one - #1 guy and four #4 guys like we've had lately.

An ace would be great, but I'd simply be happy with a collection of #2 quality starters instead of collection of #4 starters like we've had recently. Who wouldn't want a rotation of 5 Jose Berrios level pitchers?

I see no reason to trade him. We are nearly at the point of the season where we can acquire good starting pitching for nothing in trade, only money. No reason to weaken our roster on the O side to get a pitcher when we can get them for only cash (which we have plenty of).

To start - I want to say this is what I would predict they will do, not what I would want them to do. At the end, I feel they made these main moves. 1 - Traded Kepler for a prospect who will be in the minors 2 - Signed a relief pitcher who is a vet (CJ Edwards, who I know nothing about other than is a righty at a minimum salary). 3 - By putting Gordon as our every day SS to start the year until Lewis is healthy, needed a new utility player. Went with Odor who is a lefty infielder. 4- Keep Gio for one more year at the hot corner. 5- resigned Leon to be the back-up because he is good with pitchers, and a switch hitter. Not high hopes for Jeffers to be anything more than average, but the Twins appear to feel differently. I think we'll mostly go with in-house options because despite the feelings that many of us have that this is a make or break year for the F.O. - this ownership has proved they have patience. Therefore I think that signing any huge names, or making significant trades will simply not happen because the FO jobs are not in jeopardy. I think they rightly feel they will get at least 2 more years to have their own pitchers develop, thus can wait it out another year without any big signings. Hopefully a new training department will give us better results and a healthy team. It makes no sense to trade him or let him get away for nothing. He is a solid defender and hitter. We need more people like that, not less. I don't think he'll get enough of a return (would want at least a #2 pitcher), won't cost enough to prohibit any other moves, and we need the depth of players who can stay healthy. Why wouldn't we keep him another year?

Hold on- Are they now promoting a product that the players would be suspended for if they used it? Not sure on that - but it was my first thought that came to mind.

Find a filler until Lewis is ready. Can be in-house (Gordon, Urshela) or a mid-level low cost FA. Spend our dollars on top tier pitching as we already have the depth so coveted by many teams - just not many sure bets. Spend pitching for both starters and the pen over SS. Correa proved a star SS isn't enough to carry a team to the playoffs - a star pitcher however may have greater impact.

I really don't know anything about Iglesias. But - this is the kind of guy (or let Gordon do it for half a year) I would want to hold down the fort until Lewis is ready to go. That allows us to really spend whatever budget remains on pitching.

Yes - this is how I think a team like the Twins can succeed. We need to get better value for our players than their salaries dictate. Give them life changing money to buy out a few years of FA. Overpay by a few million in years 3-6 so can underpay them years 7-10. This does come with injury risks, but as long as hit more than miss is good plan.

We just need a placeholder until Lewis is healthy enough to play. See if Gio can still play there, or Gordon or any 10-20 range FA SS. Use our resources for high end pitching as despite having numbers in the wings - they nearly all have health concerns.

Absolutely not interested in bringing him back. Time for someplace new for him. Rough numbers in San Diego, rough numbers here - would rather have Austidillo back and throwing pitches for us. There is nothing he can do for me to want him on our team - numbers show one of the worst relievers that past 2 years. Why would we even consider this?

Easy fix. Win in the post season. If you win at least a series there, you'll buy at least another 3 years of fan support.

If that is all the former Twins that are in the playoffs this year - that really doesn't look good for our scouting department. There has to be more and I'm assuming these are the only ones included in the article.

He is a no brainer. Keep him for one more year while under team control, and then worry about the future of the hot corner the following year when hopefully our young guys are ready to burst down the door and need playing time.

At the beginning of the season, most models predicted we'd finish 3rd in our division - we finished the year with an on the field product that looked nothing like it was supposed to compared to the start of the year team. Does that mean our back-ups overachieved as we hit that prediction? I can't blame Rocco, he can only play the players he is given. Much of the team he had down the stretch were not who you want going into a pennant race, and that fault lies with the F.O. and is due to injuries.

I like Max as a player for us - he's not perfect and I think he'll have better luck next year at the plate as teams adjust to not putting their entire set of fielders on the right side. But - he is redundant by being a left handed outfielder. Trade him if we can get a decent middle of the rotation arm, or for a great reliever if we can for him. We have other younger, cheaper talent that can do what he can for us and we need pitching......again.

I think Jeffers has the most to prove that he belongs, and unfortunately the Twins appear to have put all their catching eggs in his basket.

I know our existing training staff is only 2 years in - but how about we re-evaluate them. No manager or F.O. could have won this year with the amount of players on the IL that never made it back, or took way longer than expected to return after injuries.

I think we need to look into why so many injuries. Seems that for multiple years now, we are among the teams that have starters miss the most games in the A.L. Why? Do we have a inadequate training staff compared to other teams? Are we trying to save money by not having a very good training staff? Are we not using the best available/modern methods compared to other teams? This year it seems we not only were poor at preventing injuries, but also poor at getting the players back quickly once they were injured. (why does a 6 week injury turn into a 3+ month recovery?) If this were a video game - we appear to have hired a trainer with an F in preventative, and an F in recovery. We have the Mayo Clinic not too far away - maybe get a partnership with them to try and have our 2023 squad spend less time on the IL?

Is it in Japan that the balls are a little tacky out of the box? I like that idea here - levels the playing field. Pitchers shouldn't get penalized for following the rules, but they do in the MLB.
