  1. Nice interesting list. Would love for the Twins to get one or more of them. Very unlikely it will happen. The Twins are going with their in house pitchers I believe. Twins talk about significant pitching signings in the past but rarely deliver. Unless of course the FA pitcher is coming off Tommy John surgery, hasnt pitched in a couple of years, or if he hasn't been released by several teams.
  2. It's too bad that people slam others on here that don't always tout the Twins philosophy of prospects and hope for the future. I have always loved the Twins and still do. Like a lot of Twins I'm totally frustrated with the direction of the club. People list these prospects like they are proven major leaguers when most of them will never make it. Let's hope some of them turn out. Ober? Love the guy! I wish they would let him go longer in his outing.
  3. Another typical Twins game. Errors, poor base running, rotten relief pitching, catchers who can't block balls in the dirt.
  4. How can people keep buying into the Twins "philosophy" of building a competitive team? This same crap has been going on for decades. Failure to retain good players then when it's time to pay them market salary they dump them off for prospects. We are always left with prospects and their devolpment and potential. How can you say we won or lost until we see what happens to them? Most of these prospects rarely see a major league park much less being a good major league player. You cannot compare a 20 year old with no experience to an 8 year MLB. This is lunacy; Twins style!
  5. Yes it is sad to maybe have to wait 2-3 years to be competitive again. I hope it's not longer. Just remember it's the Twins that decided to not pay their better players market value and either let the walk or trade them for cheap players. It's been a Twins policy for years and we should not be surprised. We are left rooting for prospect and their development. Sheesh!
  6. Great article Nick. Well researched and informative. If he is half as good as the hype he will be a superstar. If all the prospects the twins now have in their system are so great then why aren't they on the Twins major league team? Because the Twins are one of the worst teams in MLB. If they are so good get them up here and see what they can do
  7. Problem is he will probably stay in the minors and take up a spot from someone else at least potentially. I'm just saying this is the type of move the Twins take. Too cheap to sign a quality pitcher, and always looking for bargain basement deals. It doesn't work out too well does it?
  8. I don't understand the Donaldson thing from some fans. I'm glad they didn't trade him. I think he's been pretty much as advertised. Robles had to go. Sad part is they couldn't even get a batboy for Colome' and Simmons. So today we traded Berrios, Happ, Robles, and previously Cruz. In return we got 6 prospects and 1 major league pitcher. Very interesting. I hope those prospects turn out to be future major league talent like always we will have to wait and see. Twins always wait too long to sign free agents and trade. By the time they make a move the better return is gone.
  9. Typical Twins player aquisition. Another player other organizations released or put on waivers. Believe me I hope he works out. But it's not likely.
  10. I totally disagree. Yes some of the players you mentioned are good and we should keep them. I'm talking about stiffs like Cave, Sano, Rubles, Colome', etc. Etc Al. Still too many stiffs some with expiring contracts. I'm saying those prospects better produce or it will go down as another blown opportunity.
  11. Well we will see. We traded arguably our best hitter (Cruz) and now our.best.pitcher (Berrios) for prospects. I hope they are major league players.soon.and.good.ones. But prospects are just.suspects until they prove themselves. So why, at least as of.now,.did we.trade.away.our.best.two players.and.have.all..these stiffs still on the team?
  12. So because those free agent pitchers struggled you think the Twins should sit back and do nothing? Come on now. Also agree with player assessments except Sano. It amazes me how you can make a totally inept guy like Sano look like a good major league player. Do you ever watch him play?
  13. Who knows?? Big pitcher names have been traded already that are much better than Berrios. Maybe Twins will do something today. If they keep Berrios fine. But they better trade some of the stiffs on the team even if they get low level prospects. If the Twins do nothing today to improve the team now or at least for the future it will speak volumes of the failures of the FO.
  14. Awesome comments by all. Great to see so many intelligent and caring fans. With all the hype of possible upcoming trades, what happens if the Twins do little or nothing at the deadline? How will we all feel then? I will be upset. How about the rest of you?
  15. Oh and why are we so fundamentally inept? Why did Sano go from 2 nd to third on a ground ball to short? That's at least 3 times he's done that this year. No discipline on this team at all. Come on Rocco put your computer down and manage.
  16. Great comments all! I don't even get surprised anymore when they lose. I've come to expect it. What a miserable excuse for a bullpen. Combine that with a manager who totally mismanages the pitching staff. Why was Robles in there so long? Let's hope Robles is ok so we can ship him to the Yankees for their batboy. Hurry up and trade before anyone else gets hurt.
  17. I agree that Buxton is good. However he is not great. He is a career, yes did you see that, career ..247 hitter. Don't even think of putting in with Carew and Puckett. Buxton was flailing away at the plate not too unlike Sano just very recently. I like him and hope he stays but he hasn't proven much of anything yet except how to miss 63% of his teams games the past 4 years. Don't compare to Donaldson big contract. Yes he's older and has had some injuries but he has a very good and productive background. Buxton does not. Find a way to sign him but let's be reasonable and realistic.
  18. Love all the comments here. It is a difficult issue. Buxton is good but hasn't proven any superstar status by his failure to be able to play. He's played only 37% of games in last four years. I just don't see the reasoning behind all these outlandish suggestions he should get somewhere around $150 mil deal. He is a lifetime .247 hitter in 7 major league seasons. I hope they keep him. I think they will eventually sign him. Don't forget he's under contract through next season so there is plenty of time for both sides to come together.
  19. Baldelli has got to be the absolute worst manager of his bullpen that there is in major league baseball. Plus we have about the worst bullpen in baseball. What a disastorus combination.
  20. Hate to see Nellie go but it was inevitable. Hopefully the pitchers we got will work out and Twins don't wreck their development like they have with others. Cruz was fun to watch. Not much left to watch now.
  21. Great comments on Rocco. I believe he has made his share of mistakes "managing" the team. Some are definitely very questionable. I also think to blame their 9-15 start on bad luck is wrong as well. It was more indicative of future poor play. Come on bad luck? Get real! Baldelli, although part of the problem is also part of the solution.
  22. Great comments all. This is the 2021 Twins. They are a train wreck with little guidance from the FO. I wasn't surprised they lost. I expect them find a way to lose.
  23. Another "new" analytic to smooth over a bad team. Last time I checked the Twins were very near the bottom in errors committed this year. Any talk of any gold gloves is ridiculous.
  24. True Twins fans should not be surprised by Berrios blown game. He tends to have a bad inning most games. Too bad it was the last inning. How can Baldelli say he was unlucky? He was terrible that inning not unlucky. Why wasn't anyone ready from the bullpen. He tends to pull starters quickly but this time he should have pulled him after the leadoff guy got on base. Baldelli was wrong to leave him in there. Btw where is the accountability for him? I am not advocating for his firing. I don't like him as a manager but I don't believe he should be fired, at least not yet. Come on Rocco prove me wrong!
  25. The comment that Berrios is wanting a big pay day so future players in his position can make more is laughable. Let's get real. He like all pro athletes are concerned about themselves only. Most are selfish, arrogant, and totally out of touch with reality. In regards to the CBA:. If there is a work stoppage, I for one hope they never come back. They will come back of course but with everything the general public has gone through the past couple of years, and with attendance and tv ratings so poor, don't they realize that most Americans don't care if they play or not?
