  1. Baldelli is a poor situational manager. Probably one of the worst we've had.
  2. This is sure proof of a boring off season thus far by the Twins. Trying to make something out of a nothing story shows you have great fortitude and determination in writing the story. Well written and well researched and thought out. But who cares? This is a another nothing move by a nothing organization. That's it.
  3. Yawn, yawn, and double yawn. It's a nothing move by a nothing Twins organization. I love all the awesome well thought out comments. Merry Christmas TD readers.
  4. Yes it would be tough to roster two spots for first base. We've been doing that for Buxton for nearly 10 years. But it sure isn't ideal. My guess is they just concentrate on dumping salary this off season and any position openings be handled internally. Looks like a long boring season in 2025.
  5. Seems like the Twins have mishandled Alcala just like they have done with others. A good manager puts players in a position that best suits the players and then therefore the teams needs. The Twins don't have such a manager. Putting Alcala in game situations that he keeps showing he can't handle.. He us a decent one inning pitcher no more than every other day. I like your article! There's plenty more unproven players that could be on that list.
  6. Let's not forget here that as of this moment the Ishbias are not even close to buying the team. I don't think they are close to making an offer. So please let's not talk as if they are the new owners of the Minnesota Twins. Even if an offer gets made and accepted it still must be approved by MLB and there appeals to be some owners not too excited about it. Remember ownership once decline Mark Cubans bid to own a MLB team.
  7. If he's healthy as in passes his physical then yes make that trade!! Of course somehow the Twins has Correa pass his physical to sign him yet he's hurt a lot. Mentioning that we would still have Lee, Julien, Miranda, and Lewis is presuming they are major league worthy. None of those players have proven they can play and be productive over the long haul.
  8. First of all it seems to me the real issue is Buxton. Not his backup. This now 10 year saga of waiting fir Buxton to become a full time contributor is ridiculous. It's a shame we have to waste an extra roster spot to be Byron's backup. We should have moved on from him years ago. As far as a comparison to him and Hunter: there us no comparison. Hunter was by far the better player. It's not even close. It's long past time to dump Buxton.
  9. Bad idea for oth the Twins and the players mentioned. Way too much risk for potential. These players have proved very little so far. Just a lot of unproven hype thus far. And for the players if they are as great and sure no misses by your estimates, they could be leaving a lot of money on the table. Not to mention a potential team sale may have on this. The team has control over these players for now. Why reverse that at this early stage?
  10. I'm sick of hearing about all these great prospects and the Twins great farm system. These prospects are only suspects until they can play and contribute to a winning team at the major league level. All these names people through out there are just that: names. Most of the Twins prospects currently on the major league roster haven't proven they belong yet. Way too much hype not nearly enough results.
  11. Who cares anymore?? The Twins are at their lowest point at least in terms of fan interest in the Falvey years. It's always the same: wait to maybe sign a bargain basement player. Tell us how great the prospects are and dump as much hype and hope on us gullable fans. Whereas Falvey says everything is in place and our young players are great it's more likely the Twins finish 4th in the division again and fans stay away in droves.
  12. MLB needs some kind of salary cap with a floor. The disparity between revenue and non revenue teams is growing. I believe the current collective bargaining agreement has a reopening clause for the owners of December 1, 2026. I wouldn't be surprised if the owners lockout the players. There may not be a season then. Maybe that's what MLB needs to get it's house in order.
  13. Great idea. He's not really need here anyway
  14. This is probably the least enthused I've been about a Twins off season in years; especially the Faĺvey years. They usually wait until the end so they can bargain shop. IMO part of the problem is in how the payroll is spent. Too much spent on too few players. CORREA, BUXTON, and Lewis? You are counting on them to play regularly and produce? Sheer fantasy.
  15. First the goal of the Twins is not to win a championship. If they do win it's basically done by luck and everything falling into place. The goal of the Twins this year is to continue to "right size" the payroll as Turkey of the Year Joe Pohlad would say. An̈d with the club up for sale who knows? And with Falvey most of the time he's last in line to make off season moves apparently to get the bargain basement deals. I am sure they will clear out as much salary as they can. It is a good time to find out if these young players can actually play or not. Or will they continue to keep proving how over hyped and over rated they are.
  16. Dumb idea. Manfred has already pretty much ruined baseball for most of older traditionalist. It's almost unwatchable. Baseball used to be fun, relaxing, and enjoyable. Now it's become just a huge very boring video game. Players "skills" have diminished greatly. They have trouble throwing g to the wrong base, can't bunt, can't hit and run, can't adjust their at bat to advance runners. The starting pitchers rarely go over 5 or 6 innings yet we are paying them more than ever. This leads to higher ticket prices. I've never been more discouraged about the state of major league baseball than I am now. Rule changes like this will destroy what's left.
  17. I agree the Twins just don't have the talent. They had the worst record for letting inherited runners score. I too use the eye test. Too many analytics in all of baseball right now. Jax was awesome in bullpen. Duran not so much so. He regressed. Your closer or high leverage situational pitcher simply cannot lose 9 games in the bullpen. Yes he needs to get down to two pitches. Twins touted the bullpen as one of the best in baseball before the start of the season. That didn't work out too well.
  18. Mauer was great and proven by making the MLB hall of fame on his first try. The rest of the list is filled with what ifs
  19. Good for him. But who cares? IMO this current Twins administration has done a poor job in player development. Sure we have some prospects on the current roster but haven't proven much at the big league level. Too many times players are brought up from minors only to be relegated to part time status due to the ridiculous platooning. Also they are made to play multiple positions with little or no experience. Why would any young player want to be in the Twins organization?
  20. So many interesting viewpoints regarding the bullpen. My opinion is that our bullpen could be OK k but it could just as easily be a disaster. Last year we were told it would be one of the best bullpen in baseball. That sure didn't pan out. We get the usual excuses of bad luck. Come on. Let's get real. It takes talent. The Twins will shop the dumpster to find a few injured arms and proclaim what good deals they made and how great the bullpen is.
  21. Most of these " can't miss" prospects do just that: miss. It can be kind of a crap shoot. Maybe if the Twins drafted the right can't miss prospects the team would be OK. Most of, notice I didn't say all Twins prospects are over rated and over hyped. They do prove themselves by either not being good enough or injury prone or both. Several on the Twins now need to show a lot in 2025.
  22. Another article about can't miss prospects having a major league impact. Let's call it what it is Fantasy Land. They MAY make it to the Twins sometime in 2025 but it's unlikely any of those will make much of an impact.
  23. Congrats to Zoll for the promotion. The Twins job of developing players has so far produced very sketchy results. Too many years times our prospects are brought to majors o ly to be relegated to a part time status through pinch hitting and platooning. Most of the prospects on the team have proven very little in an effort to prove they belong in the big leagues.
