  1. I agree pretty much with your list. Obviously more could have been added. The comments on Kiersey Jr are spot on. It is reflective of this organizations failure to develop players at the major league level. How simply irresponsible it is to bring young players up only to not let them play regularly. That's why I'm so sick and tired of all the hype regarding prospects. The Twins are either drafting the wrong players, and/or they are poorly coached or both. Getting excited about a future Culpepper and Jenkins is senseless. Im more confident the Twins will screw that up too.
  2. Hunter would be a fine choice. I really think the Twins need to stay away from the bland internal candidate. Even though they may be deserving, people like Toby Gardenhire are part of the "problem" not the solution. The teams lack of player development and basic fundamentals are in part of the issue. Sending players to the Twins through the farm system has shown the players are not prepared to contribute consistently at the major league level. A new voice is needed for the Twins and I think Torri Hunter would be a fine choice. Do I think the Twins will hire him? No. They will likely go with a much lower level cheaper alternative.
  3. He deserves to be in top 10 to earn that bonus. I mean it took him 10 years to do it and regularly play. I don't think he will make it but I hope so.
  4. Im sure Falvey will pick a new manager thus cheap. Also he will be someone thaimt is prepared to be molded in Falveys image. Fans will be disappointed as nothing will change, just get worse under Falvey.
  5. The article makes a valid point. Im anticipating more payroll cuts this off season. Especially Lopez. It could be a long stretch of very bad baseball in minnesota.
  6. It seems likely to me the teardown will continue this off season. .why not? Team is pretty well demolished now. I can't see them hanging on to a high priced Lopez when it's unlikely the team will be competitive. It makes no sense but neither does the Twins organization.
  7. Ryan was an obvious choice. Im hoping he can be a little more consistent. The last two seasons he hasn't pitched well the last couple of months. He looked tired. After pitching only 177 innings, that's a little concerning. I realize in this day and age approaching 200 innings seems to be the ultimate. Not like years ago when aces pitched well into 225-250 innings. Many times aces through over 300 innings. Today's pitchers IMO are babied and pampered. My goodness they make more money now than ever and only expected to pitch 5 to 7 innings at most per game. Yet pitchers in this newer modern age are getting injured more and more. I hope the newer pitchers like Skubal stay healthy.
  8. Suzuki would be a fine choice. He's likable, knowledgeable, and good experience as a player. Plus someone with no managing experience would be cheap. Also a new manager with very little experience would be easy for Falvey to micro manage and manipulate.
  9. My expectation is payroll will be under 100 million. Maybe significantly under 100 million. As in the past fans will be blamed for the decrease payroll because of poor attendance. For a team to trade so many players to cut payroll, it makes no sense to drive the payroll back up. I fully expect Lopez will be traded to save another 21 million. He's a luxury on a bottom feeding team like the Twins. Pete Alonso? I sure don't see that as an option. Cost would be way too much. The team need much more than an aging, albeit good, firstbaseman to be a contender. My instinct tells me payroll will be significantly cut this off season. We are likely headed for a few years of low payroll and very poor baseball. I sincerely hope im wrong. It could get very ugly.
  10. IMO Rocco should have been fired a while ago. Ive never been a Rocco fan but I certainly don't agree with making him a scapegoat. It should have been a double firing Rocco And Falvey.
  11. Does it really matter where the Twins pick? They will probably screw that up too. It will probably be one of many can't miss picks the Twins have had that miss. So tired of the hope and hype that is the Twins philosophy
  12. Yes the Pohlads have ruined this franchise. 60 years of closely following this team finally have convinced me they need to sell. I actually think the payroll dollars handed down by ownership have been fine. I think the payroll budget has been totally messed up by Falvey. It's astonishing to me that ownership keeps him when he has totally messed up thus team. Leaving him in charge of hiring the next manager is proof that the Pohlads have no clue.
  13. The first one to go should be Falvey. He made this mess. But we know hes not going anywhere. I'd probably deal Larnach but I would keep him over Wallner. There's much hate out there on Larnach for whatever reason. But IMO hes better than Wallner. Ive heard hints that payroll will be around 95 million. They surely aren't going to increase payroll after dumping it. Who other than a baldelli clone would Falvey hire? Who wants this job but a rookie manager?
  14. Great article. I totally agree with it. I would also say that Falvey needs to go. Falvey using Baldelli as a scapegoat fir his own miscues shows where this organization is at. Leaving Falvey in charge of hiring the next manager is a huge mistake. Besides we will only get the leftovers or a rookie again for a manager. It's hard to believe any experienced manager would want this job. It's a mess. A mess that Falvey created.
  15. If , as many people say, that the manager makes little difference in wins and losses then why hire one? Let the great Falvey do it from his suite. IMO an internal candidate like Toby Gardenhire would be a terrible choice.
  16. Lombard is as good of a choice as anyone. Doesn't matter quite as much since the Twins decided to retain Falvey. Falvey is left to hire the next manager what a disgrace. IMO we will probably get Rocco 2.0. Rocco was not a good manager but he was very loyal. To make him the scapegoat for Falveys incompetence is criminal but typical
  17. Some Pitching pipeline...yes some of the guys pitched well toward the end but how can you count on them after just a couple good starts? They will undoubtedly give the young guys ample chances to prove themselves. I don't see anyway that they keep Lopez with his 21.5 million in salary due next year. It doesn't fit their philosophy. Ryan? I'm saying it's 50/50 if he gets traded. They should keep him but this ownership group and Falvey don't have a clue.
  18. Twins are resting Buxton on Sunday. The final game of the season. I understand it's part tradition to rest veterans of non contending teams on the last day. Why? I don't know. But it doesn't make me wonder about Buxton. How could he ever agree to something like that with the great year he is having? I don't get it. If I'm not mistaken he has all winter to rest up. I think it dims Buxtons light somewhat.
  19. I think some gullible Twins fans like me believed this crap from the Twins. But after 60 years of it im done. Yes I will continue to follow them. After all bad habits are hard to break. But the grandois of thinking thus ownership and front office bs is legit is over for me. Loyalty can only go so far. It's the end of the line
  20. Typical Falvey BS although i guess what do you expect him to say? That's all he is a salesman with a worn out refrain. All he sells is hope and hype, over hype
  21. Typical, albeit not typical, end to another year of Twins baseball. Keeping Lopez would be nice but not very likely considering the teams payroll dump and his 21.5 million salary for next season. Rocco needs to go but only if he takes Falvey with him. IMO a key start to this off-season and a start to revive some fan interest would e to immediately dump Falvey AND Baldelli. A new voice is needed. If they make Rocco the scapegoat by firing him but keep Falvey would be a huge mistake.
  22. It is interesting that they run more. Is it because they got rid of some of the non base stealing players? We have younger and faster players now? Is Baldelli just pissed off at the direction of the team and decided to do things his way? Is it because Baldelli knows hes not coming back next year and he is finally managing he would like? It is interesting. But as one poster said they are still losing.
  23. Twins won't sign any free agents that are any good. They cost too much for them. The closer for next year is irrelevant. The Twins will be in very little situations where a closer is needed. Contenders need quality closers not pretenders.
  24. I've been a long time critic of Buxton. I will admit he has had a great season. He's been one of the very few Twins to follow this year. Problem is it took Buxton 10 years, yes 10 years to have this great season. Almost as much time as hes been kn the injured list lol. It's so sad for him that it comes in a season where the Twins are so bad and who's competitive future is almost non existent. Ober pitched well Thirsday but he has had a horrible season. I'd like to see Ryan bounce back and have a great start against the Phillies. He's been pretty poor the past 7 starts.
  25. Twins may just as well trade him this coming off season. Get what you can. Lopez too with his 21 million salary. Ryan is good but struggled end of season. 180 innings and hes tired? Oh my. I long for the years where starting pitchers pitched. It was normal to have pitchers work 250 innings per year. Many times over 300 innings. Most of today's pitchers are wimpy and pitch 5 or 6 innings and they think they've done well. Managers nit letting them stay in the game much longer as they bow to the great analytics. Oh my.
