Twins Trade Candidate: Emilio Pagan
TwinsChupacabra replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like the idea of dumping Pagan, Sano, Rocco. Addition by subtraction!! Too bad it couldn't happen. -
365 days from now, we will be having the same discussions. The Twins will again be a below average team playing in a terrible division again. The injuries will be an excuse again. The pitching will be uninspiring. The in-game decision making from Rocco will again be rock bottom. We missed the playoffs again. And Pohlad announces they are keeping the management in place. Groundhog Day. Some TD fans will complain that some of us are negative for some reason.

Passing the Blame Around for the 2022 Twins
TwinsChupacabra replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Many of the previous comments present excellent arguments. I loved the employee vs boss segment. Here are some of the things I totally agree with: 1. JP is ultimately responsible. He's the only one that can try to repair what is obviously broken. 2. No sense in separating the front office from Rocco. They are together in this mess. FO's statements supporting Rocco confirmed this. The front office is either accepting of, or oblivious to Rocco's massive shortcomings. 3. Injuries happen. It is a sad excuse. When you sign players with injury histories, you take a chance. You shouldn't get to pout about it when the inevitable happens. Some injuries like Sano's actually benefitted the team. I am completely baffled why so many fans (and I mean big fans) of the Twins accept excuses, losing, and terrible baseball. Why do they give those responsible for this, a pass? Why agree with their excuses? Why not expect better? You know where this is going already. Next year will be a big disappointment. They will underachieve in baseball's worst division yet again. They will invent new excuses and recycle old ones. What definite signs do you have to bank on that this cluster won't happen again? Rocco's Pagan will be someone else next year. Count on it.- 39 replies

This seems like another excuse article. Can't really blame the F. O. Can't really blame the manager. Poor guys... What are they to do when some of their players didn't play better than expected? Like stated in many posts, several players performed within a range that was expected. They just don't have a bunch of all-stars. When you don't have the studs, or at least a bunch of players having career years, the importance of management really shows up. When your team doesn't hit 200 homers, you have to do the little things correctly to win. When you have a Rocco, this will never happen. And the front office has to be blamed too. They were the ones that hired him and now have double-downed on him after another dismal season. When you can't win a playoff game when the entire team is playing great as in 2019, you certainly are not going to win when they are not. Or at least not with management. Seeing more empty seats in the future.

Week in Review: The Walking Dead
TwinsChupacabra replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins organization as currently constructed does more wrong than right. This is a direct reflection of the management and front office (who are so tied together, they can't be separated). It is super sad that next season will be more of the same. Without change in the near future, only the most diehard fans will continue to enjoy this site or bother to go to a game. Hope is the most important thing for a Twins fan. Change is the only way to get it back.- 17 replies

Excellent list of frustrations from the previous comments/posts. Get ready for more of the same next year since they'll never get rid of the FO and manager.

What’s Next for Twins Manager Rocco Baldelli?
TwinsChupacabra replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The poor game attendance might be enough to at least consider dumping the FO and manager that will never win a playoff game. If you don't win some playoff games soon, you will lose the next generation of potential fans. How long will fans tolerate .500 ball when playing in baseball's worst division? -- They really need change. Rocco has shown no improvement in game decisions and doesn't learn from past mistakes. How can anyone have faith in a guy like that? P.S. Quit showing his winning percentage as proof that he's good. It's mostly based on one year, 2019, when anyone managing could have won 100 games. If you take that season out, he's 180-183.- 67 replies

I don't blame Rocco for pulling Ryan when he did, as us fans have been conditioned to believe in the all-telling pitch count. But what if he pitches in the 8th and gets out of it with a handful of pitches. It's not completely unheard of. Then he's got a chance in the 9th starting with around 112 pitches. This reminds me of 2010 when Kevin Slowey was pulled in a no hitter when he was at 106 pitches. The no hitter was ruined by the reliever on the very next at bat. Slowey never had another chance at one. At the time, (and also tonight) I felt sad because most likely, this will be the young pitcher's only chance at it. I do blame Rocco for not making an effort to complete the no-hitter in the 9th. Moran was struggling and walked two in a row. The situation (and the fans) screamed for a change. Rocco made the wrong choice again, and the predictable happened. The Twins are in great need of an emotional boost. The Twins fans are in need of one too. Fate gave them an opportunity for one tonight. It is sad it was thrown away by Rocco.

In the End, the 2022 Twins Never Stood a Chance
TwinsChupacabra replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Although well written, I cringe at yet another excuse article (while the season is not even over), seemingly to protect the management from blame. As sports fans always say, every team has injuries. I guess the main argument made here is that the Twins suffered much more than everyone else. I don't buy it. Recently the Twins played against the weakest lineup the Yankees put on the field in my lifetime. That should have evened the playing field. But no, as we lost 3 out of 4 and tried to lose the 4th. While the list is long, many are mediocre. Some were not expected to be healthy enough to play much. And some have chronic injuries, so their time away should have been anticipated. On top of that, the fact mentioned in a previous comment about the benefits of some of the injuries cannot be overlooked. Sano is a great example. I am convinced, had it not been for injury, the Twins would have wasted hundreds of at bats on a player that would simply strike out in most of them. - Not to mention the upgrade they got by his replacements. The luckiness of a few of these convenient injuries certainly offsets some of the damage purported in the article. I doubt we'll see a Rocco firing this offseason after this year's debacle, but adding on to last year's last place finish, a case can be made. Or we can just watch next season play out the same way and write about more excuses. I want my kids to see a playoff win in their lifetime. It's obvious that it won't happen under Rocco.- 94 replies

The way Rocco handled the young starter last night was disgusting. My friends and I watching the game were so angry. Keep in mind, this game was following a day off where relievers would have been available, We are so sick of Rocco. I'll say it again. They will never win a playoff game as long as he is manager. Watching Sano last night was a joke. This team is not serious about their performance on the field. In the story, Gleeman mentioned about how his is the first time in a long while the starter gave up 10 runs. I was at a game in August 2019 where Berrios gave up 9 runs. Another Rocco debacle. In that game they came back with 4 homers but it was too late, Rocco had already thrown the game away. Can we trade Rocco, please?

Want to know the future? The Twins will win this pitiful division, no matter how bad they play. We will get destroyed in the playoffs. After the season is over, many on this site will brag about Rocco winning another division title. Ground Hogs Day.

I'm not buying it either. Their record, I'm afraid, is largely due to the super easy schedule so far. While the Twins won 2 out of 3 against the Rays, they got killed by the Dodgers and Astros. All the other teams they played are terrible. SO, they haven't been tested. If they can play well against actual good teams, then you can see what you've got in them. Their super easy schedule continues until June. If they made the playoffs, they'd be huge underdogs. How about letting Rocco get a single playoff game win before calling him great?

Twins have played only two teams with winning records at this point. Plus, two victories were handed to them in the most lucky of ways. Without those, they'd be .500. And, with Sano going out to injury, the Twins caught another huge break. So, what I am saying is that is way too early to say they are a great team. Or even a good one. Only one thing is for sure: their division is winnable because it is embarrassingly putrid.

3 Takeaways from Tuesday's Wild Walk-off Win
TwinsChupacabra replied to Melissa Berman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sorry, I can't come close to agreeing with the Sano comments. He is one of the worse defensive 1st basemen in the league, he's a strike out king, a rally killer, a terrible baserunner, and if he doubles his average, he's still below the Mendoza line. Can't wait for him to go away. It sucks that Rocco puts in the lineup everyday. And some of this optimism is based on Grossman dropping the ball? I do agree on the division race part-the Central is so terrible, that the Twins just might win it.- 13 replies

The Twins are the luckiest team in MLB. Period. Winning two games in one week on double error plays is beyond lucky. Boy, this division is trash.

Has Luis Arraez Earned a Starting Role?
TwinsChupacabra replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Solve a couple of problems at once. Put Arraez at first base. The Twins are not a good hitting team and need Arraez in the lineup. Bench or finally cut Sano. They won't miss his crappy fielding and even worse hitting. I doubt the Twins fans would be unhappy with the move. If you trade Arraez, I know in my heart that he will ultimately be replaced with a worse hitting option. They need that like they need a hole in the head. Oh wait, they have Rocco. -
An earlier posted said "I mean no disrespect to any front office, they are all better at what they do than us mere mortals making comments about what they are doing." At this point, I really have to disagree. The percentage of diehard Twins fans that would call the current front office CLUELESS, it growing by the day.
