    i get in on the 9th and am driving around the state watching games not just twins games. i'll be there until the 16th. i think. i have never gone to spring raining in florida - always AZ. should be fun.

    luis added so much to the game that is missing now. he was exciting to watch, every at bat was a must see. he battled and will continue to battle at the plate. his gestures. his hitting 0-2. his pure fun playing the game. sure, maybe...maybe, this is a good team trade - i guess we'll see over time, however, as a fan favorite it stings. it really hurts. for a while at least. seeing the twins play won't be quite as fun.

    1. what he can bring to the field is a good thing 2. why would you want a player that doesn't want to be here? 3. this will end badly in about three years when he wants to re-negotiate. 4. isn't this like your girlfriend dumping you, going out and trying her time with two other guys and then coming back to you? 5. is anyone else highly suspect of this whole thing?

    we all knew this was coming just maybe not in the terms the giants paid out in. day one, we all knew he'd opt out. what's disappointing from a 'full of bullsh*t' level is the lying. he loves minneapolis. loves the juicey lucy. see himself as a twin for a long time. he's a cheater so why should anyone be surprised he's a liar as well? i'm glad he's gone. i love the game for the game. i don't love this game of one-up manship. what can he now do with this money that he couldn't do before? when A-rod left seattle for texas it was the same. he said he took the contract in texas because he had to think of his family. seriously? carlos just wants to be the highest paid. it's what fuels him. he wants to be the dior bag. and now he is. i will still be happy to see games and watch the team assembled play. i love the game and being in the park. sure, we'll lose a lot of games but it's still a beautiful day at the park. carlos will say all the right things at the presser. how it's a dream to be a giant. how the city is so great. that he loves a mission burrito. he's full of sh*t.

    Jake Gittes spent a bit of time in Jake Cave as well before trying to go back to Los Angeles in the 50's. he soon found out that life outside the Jake Cave wasn't as good as he had hoped.

    i would/will be shocked is carlos re-signs. shocked - unless, of course, they offer him something longer term or he gets no other offers that make him happy. i dunno. i just can't see him doing it.

    here on the west coast i'm sad. i will still love and support them- hey, here's to next year...but holy cow. fi they lost a bunch of games by one run i'd be saying bad luck but that's not this. i love you minneapolis and i love the twins. i'll be back for more games at target field. more burgers at revival and parlour. more art at the walker and shows at the First ave and Turf club...but please let me do those things after watching a great game where the twins win.

    i'm here to tell you from personal experience meeting loads of famous folks - you don;'t want to get too close. they'll generally disappoint you. also, from experience with him, woody is crazy.

    what really is the ROI on buxton. really? i love seeing him play but in the end was this contract one the twins should have stayed away from? as for pitching, my lord, it's a pitcher graveyard lately. unlucky injuries are one thing, ones that you see coming down main street is another.

    until there's a true salary cap - which there never will be - there will be teams like the yankees and the dodgers and the world series will be a toss up between a few teams every year. the twins are not going to be one of those teams. and yes, there should be a salary floor as well but that's another animal altogether. as a twins fan you just have to love watching baseball and not put too many eggs in the playoff or world series basket.

    i feel for cave as he must know he's in a spot he's not suited or has the talent for - not his fault. he's exactly who he is, as is beckham. as long as the twins keep them and pagan around they are doomed to slide into 3rd place in the division.

    when i a great player not a great player? when they're hurt or having their work load lessened to save them for the playoffs. or in carlos' case when they just don't live up to the huge off season signing - it happens. a lot. so next season does carlos re-sign? does anyone care if he does? does buxton move into a purely DH role? if so he's going to need to get back on the bat. do the twins figure out that getting cast-offs from other teams doesn't work? do players such as cave and beckham get released? when all the pitchers are healthy at the beginning of next season who do they trade away? do i eat a chopped meat sandwich or sausage dog when i see the twins play the white sox in chicago? do i go to the Loyalist for a burger? so many questions....
