  1. https://theathletic.com/3505683/2022/08/15/twins-emilio-pagan-gleeman/?source=dailyemail&campaign=601983&redirected=1 he comes into the game and i say to myself, 'well, that's that'... and sadly i'm right. i want to be wrong.
  2. i know from where it sit - at my desk at work in vancouver - that i'd love to see arraez get a batting title. it's been great watching him get to where he is and to see a batter like him is a privilege. i look forward to well fought games, a little less heartache and maybe, please, a stolen base or two. i look forward to the two games i'll over the labour day weekend vs the sox and look back fondly on the two games i saw over the july 4th weekend recently. i alos look forward to seeing byron running across centre field and diving to make a highlight reel catch... ok... so maybe i won't see that. go twins.
  3. am i high (possible) or did fulmer get tagged for four hits in a row when he last pitched for detroit against the twins...? are we surprised by him getting hit on now and the game before...or before that... as i said yesterday, i think, we should just be happy to be twins fans and love baseball and know they're going to be exactly who they are. and after sonny got tagged for a double and the run lead was reduced to one run, why wasn't he taken out then? why one more batter?
  4. Well. Let’s just settle into the realization - that many already had ages ago - that it doesn’t matter one bit if the twins win the central. Zero. They’ll never get close to beating the over-spending big market teams in a playoff. Let’s just love them for who they are and settle into our seats.
  5. who am i to say? however, while he does make the hard play look easy is that really worth the price the twins are paying? and, if he opts out next year the twins get nothing in return for him - he's just gone... unless i am mistaken. it will be a failed experiment. i find it hard to believe that he will be back next year and if he is, they should try and get something for him early on to try and claw back some of the investment they have made that, at this point, really hasn't produced much fruit. he says he loves in in minneapolis but he'll say he loves it in (city name here) when they sign him to a big deal next fall/winter.
  6. the view from the west coast is that pagan kinda sucks.
  7. i feel for the big guy but sano looked like sano. it's time to cut ties though what they'll get for him is a bag of balls at this point.
  8. was lucky enough to see in person the 9th inning heroics of byron buxton. so great to be there for that. it was great to be at the game sunday as well even though the results weren't as great. i love being in that park. thanks twins!!
  9. it's hard to stay positive but i remain so. however, the managing of byron's work load is a problem. he's fragile and he plays hard so there's going to be issues and long term can the twins have a guy that, when in the line up is great but misses so much time out of it. he should be in this entire series. he should be in against all the games against plus .500 teams. period - unless he's actually hurt. at the very least at DH. the bullpen is a disaster. seven runs from the seventh inning onwards? come on.
  10. i'm learning that you can't say anything regarding the players on the twins that aren't vaccinated. nice to know the censors are out in full force.

    1. Squirrel

      Squirrel

We had quite a bit of say on it, from both sides, and it was unproductive bickering. So, enough was enough and it was time to get back to baseball

  11. i am one that is amongst others that are starting to wonder about all the days off for buxton and / or correa. i'm prone to injury as well but if i missed as many days or was given as maybe days off my co-workers would be getting tired of me. he's a great player but the team needs him in the field and at the plate. his average is awful right now. it's not going to get any better if you don't get the swings in.
  12. we need Tortuga. at least then there would be some fun mixed into all of this. we can't give correa a pass. we just can't. if i was performing as he is at my job, after getting a raise, i'd be fired. he's already looking to next year and where he'll be - it won't be here. i've seen the look on his face - it's of a man in touch with his inner talking heads - "how did i get here?" sure baldelli's job is to inspire but he's not at the plate swinging the bat. lay down a bunt, play some small ball, get men on base, move them along. mix it up. screw the sabermetrics. (at least for now) maybe get kevin goldstein down to talk to correa and say to him, 'come on man. just at least pretend you care. it'll all be over soon and you can move on'.
  13. "I think Astudillo would've been a much better fit as bench depth now that we have one poor hitting cather and a second poor fielding catcher at DH, and he's much more reliable for a tough at-bat as a pinch hitter. " yes. this. sano hitting .077 and correa at .177 come on. and sano's defense is awful. kepler should not be hitting clean-up on a men's league softball team at this point. the bargain basement trades have yielded the results most thought they would. if htye lose and it's a fun game i'm all for that - this is not that.
  14. well, if joe hadn't cut his hair i'd would have given the advantage to him.
  15. i don't know much but i do know i like larnach. and i like rogers...
  16. great player. pretty good cheater. one year deal. makes room for royce coming up.
  17. Astudillo is a lot of things: but the main thing he is, is he's awesome. i want a lot of things when i watch baseball. great pitching, good hitting that beats great pitching (not always), close exciting plays and fun. just regular good time fun. smiles. laughs. fun. we get a decent dose of the rest from him and lots of fun.
  18. donaldson.... oh god.
  19. i remember (says the old guy...), seeing him in seattle only a few games into his major league career and being very impressed. he's the twins' tony gwynn. or i hope it turns out that way.
