That was a lot of fun. The only player I could find with a higher WAR for a single team/franchise than Walter Johnson's 152.3 in 21 years was Willie Mays at 154.6 in 21 years. Koufax was only 53.2 for 12 years, and even if you double that he would only be at 106.4 for 24 years...... And to think when folks voted for the top 4 players in the franchise, "The Franchise Four"..... Walter didn't get enough votes. Nobody is even close to Walter in the franchise. "These four, voted on by the fans, were selected as the most impactful players who best represented the history of each franchise/category ": Carew's 12 years netted 63.7 and Killebrew's 21 years, only 60.4. Oliva's 15 years, 43.0; and Puckett's 12, 50.9. Johnson was more than double Carew and Killebrew, and more than triple Puckett and Oliva (well, almost triple Puckett... 0.4 short). Not even close. Not. even. close. Just because the franchise changed its name, doesn't mean it isn't the same franchise. Maybe if the Twins became the Minnesota Senators (like the New York Giants to the San Francisco Giants for Mays, the Milwaukee Braves to the Atlanta Braves for Hank Aaron, or the Boston Braves to the Milwaukee Braves for Warren Spahn to make Atlanta's Franchise Four) .....then more Minnesota fans would have honored the history and one of the greatest and most impactful pitchers to ever play the game.
