  1. I really can never get on board with the "trees". Each trade stands on it's own. The origin of each butterfly effect is hard to nail down. I know people like to do it, but trading Ynoa was done to help us then.... not in the future. It did not. Ynoa does not become a trade for Littell. Each trade stands on its own.
  2. Now that's creative. It's like Sergio is getting younger every year. No changes yet, except elimination of Gibson and Perez. OK. So nothing has really changed, and definitely no additions. How did I get here.... same as it ever was.......

    Rule V mania

I didn't expect any to be drafted. I think it shows that the value of those on the farm in the netherworlds of the rule 5 bubble, particularly Wander Javier, are highly overrated by many close to the team, but not fooled by other teams watching.
  4. "It seems like we all have an affinity for baseball players who are more rotund than the trim...." I must not be a "we". I never get it, myself. I sure hope we can do better than Astudillo in 2020.
  5. May as well have 3 3rd starters, and pitch them 3, 4 and 5. Better than a 5th starter being the 5th starter.
  6. Diamond was "better than you think". Hildenberger was "better than you think". Harper? Dobnak had a welcome 28.1 innings in the regular season. A surprise and a story. His 2 innings in game 3 of the ALDS is exactly what I think. If someone gets hurt and he can fill in and still fool people who haven't seen him before or much, great. He could be very valuable for a spell.
  7. Ryu had his career year last year. The first time he made it through a year and stayed in off the IL/DL most of the time. I think it was an outlier, and would not bet on him. I hope they $ign Cole Bumgarner before it is too late. tic toc. (Cole, too, for that matter....)
  8. I just don't get the optimism concerning Pineda. Do you just throw his career numbers out and look at a couple of months in 2019 and think that is him and not that he is closer to his career? Or even that he will be worse as he ages? a couple of good months doesn't mean that is what to expect, I don't think. Perez had a couple of good months.......
  9. That will be in the equation, regardless of signing two starters that already are fantastic pitchers at the MLB level. You can never have too much pitching. Especially good pitching. Injuries are going to happen. The opportunities for those with options will be there, and if they can perform, they can push their way into the rotation, and make others into tradable assets. That would be optimum. One will surely be in the rotation to start the season because of Pineda's suspension. I haven't forgotten, at all.
  10. Commendable optimism. The statement that sticks out for me is...."the Twins rookies as a whole pitched a slightly better than average rate in 2019." I really don't get that excited about average. Rookie or veteran. I get the overall picture as positive, and it could be worse, and all............ but it could be a lot better, too. They don't get me excited at this point. In fact, I feel that to bank on Smeltzer, Stashak, and Dobnak as anything other than depth (and a couple good stories) would be misguided.
  11. So let me get this straight. So far, treading water, and have just dropped Gibson from the rotation. Have I missed anything? It's like extending Pineda for two years with a 2 million/year raise. I wonder how most would have felt about this extension right after he was suspended ? (Which is essentially what has happened except for the time delay) Odo gets a one year extension with a raise of several million. So, so far, same rotation with the AAAA fillers at the rear except Gibson is gone. But money to spend, and room for starter(s). And $trasburg (and Rendon) and Bumgarner are available for $ and a draft pick (of which, what is it, 80% or something, is it, fail?), and Keuchel for $ only. Watching the days go by....... same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Nothing to really see here, yet. After changes upon changes we are more or less the same. Time to improve the team, me thinks, instead of treading water.
  12. I would sign him to a contract with multiple incentives, and give him the opportunity to make good money, and bet on himself.
  13. I wish they would keep the frigging tarp off the field unless the weather looks questionable. No need for these damn tarps to be on the field at all most games. As for the netting...... amazing we all survived this long. If your face is in a screen instead of the game, you might deserve a wake up anyway.
  14. Rendon. Unless Chapman comes as a steal, regarding who we trade them for. Just pony up and set a franchise record, and buy Rendon. $ only. The best deal there is. Especially for a billionaire owner. Bet the bank, not the farm.
  15. Moose goes to Cincy. No reason not to sign Rendon. Or Donaldson. But go for the gold. Rendon is so steady. This front office just might surprise us. Probably not. But maybe. I still can't condition myself to something like this can never happen, regardless of the history. I think they won't sign top tier pitchers. But second tier, yes. Their MO is to get good pitchers and hope to make them better. May as well get the best offense, with good D. Trade for Chapman? I think that will be a higher price than just $. I like the non-tender of Cron and Hildenberger. I think Harper should be non-tendered, too. Let the "stories" grow somewhere else, and bring a championship to Minnesota.
  16. Trouble is..... Rooker has a history of taking a couple months at the start of seasons to start hitting. At all levels so far. And when he has been moved up to the next level in the middle of a season. I am not convinced at all that his bat is MLB ready. Plus, those Ks.
  17. Wheeler looks like the biggest risk of the FA pitchers to me. Not an ace, AND it seems lucky that he made it through a year where he could actually be on the field the majority of the year. I hope they pass, and get Bumgarner instead. Wheeler is destined for disappointment, and injuries, I think.
  18. If a 30 year old man that has made millions (and has potential to increase his future earnings and performance) cannot get it together to lose weight on his own (or even hire his own dietitian/trainer) in the off season, then there is a problem. Actors do it all the time, both gain and lose. It is all about desire, discipline, and commitment. It may not be easy, but it is surely very possible, and done all the time.
  19. None can stick on a MLB active roster. Even if someone takes them, they will be back unless the Twins won't take him back.
  20. What a tease. Care to elaborate? If you are making that claim, how about the goods? I, for one, am curious.... about stuff.
