  1. Hard to believe that Berrios is the Twins worst starter so far this year after one start each. Bieber might have had the best start of the entire MLB. Berrios needs to step up and perform. No excuses. Regarding the 8 game suspension for Kelly..... good. This is ridiculous. And both teams not paying atttention to the conditions and masking and breathing all over. These are young men. Time to grow up. This is not the time to spit and spray spittle all over each other. This behavior puts the whole league and games this year in jeopardy. Seriously. I don't understand this crap. Childish. These are extraordinary times. Players need to take responsibility and man up, and not act like babies, and have these fake fights. Kudos for the Twins, and Baldelli in the dugout, for masking up. Let's get this unique season in, and not sabotage it with childish behavior. Whether you like it or not, the MLB has already decided the Astros punishments, and that is past. Every instance of purposely throwing at players and inciting rubarbs needs to be handled with a no tolerance policy. Let's get these games in.
  2. No finger blisters, please. It takes him out for a month each time, and they happen often in the past.
  3. #4. Trade Sano now? Yup. He should be at top form having all of about 5 days to get ready in Summer Camp. What a bum.
  4. Listed at 5' 10", 175lbs. I would have to see that to believe 175. Looks like at least 200 to me. Puckett was 5' 8", 178. He was never gonna hit for power, either........
  5. Gonzales was right at the fence, in plenty of time, basically right under the ball, and could have and should have caught that homer by Jimenez that bounced of the top of the wall. Easy catch. Not even a super play required, but routine. That was pathetic fielding. He took a Delmon Young route back but still saunters under it finally and lifts his glove and gets it caught in the top rail of the padding. Gonzales has no place in the outfield. None.
  6. Anything can happen in one game. I know. I know. I just have a hard time talking my fan self into pitching being better than what it is, and settling for second (debatable) tier or third tier or worse... but, hey, with potential....... all the time, and convincing my fan self that it will be fine, and it is something to be excited about.
  7. Can somebody tell me again how reliable and good our pitching staff is going to be this year? 15 runs in 2 games, and implosions by Berrios, Littell, and Smeltzer, all serving up plenty of meat. Good thing we hit in one of the games. 15 runs....... This team is going to need to score lots of runs.
  8. I wish I could have as much confidence in the starting pitchers and swingmen as most here. I, for one, expect starting pitching, other than Berrios, to be a wildcard, and hope for the best, but am not having a great feeling about it, especially Bailey. And Smeltzer, Dobnak, and Stashak? Can you say Scott Diamond? And Hill suffers from repeated blisters on his throwing fingers that take him out for 30 days at a time. And counting on Pineda to step in late in the short season and be effective? We will see...... Back strains are a mystery. But it seems many pitchers suffer from them. Even Kershaw was pulled today. Again, with back strain. It would seem, in this day of advanced tools, that exercises would be developed to almost eliminate them, and pitchers would be doing them daily year round to prevent a large share of these cases.
  9. Homer Bailey is definitely not ready. Living up to his name. Or more worrisome.... this is just what Bailey is and will be. I know..... I know..... just an exhibition.......
  10. I bet you do see Sano at first base on opening day.
  11. This is your team.... These are grown men.... These are Minnesota Twins..... Please..... Don't Call Them Twinkies! Buxton makes this a GREAT Minnesota Twins team when on the field. Case closed.
  12. I don't see plus plus defense in CF as his only value. I also don't see his true value reflected by the sum of his stat totals so far. Not even close. I don't think the team, or his teammates do, either. Plus, it is to early to assign too much of anything to this injury, as we don't know what it is yet.
  13. 7:39pm: (MLBTR) Buxton’s initial exam didn’t reveal any serious problems, according to manager Rocco Baldelli (via Hayes). They’re cautiously optimistic Buxton will be OK.
  14. A mediocre starter coming in instead of a reliever that is tested. Hmmm. And the 5th spot looks pretty vulnerable. IF it happens, I hope it only lasts a couple rotations and the starters step it up and take the innings. It is already a short season. Not like they need to save it for the marathon. Hmmm.
  15. Amazing. The guy just cannot stay on the field. He must be devastated. I know I am.
  16. Every season is different. If you know the season is 162 games, you have a certain game plan. If it is 60 games, a different game plan for the season. It will show the good teams, the teams that get the same set rules to compete by, and shine. It doesn't make them less deserving when they win. In my mind, it makes them even more deserving, because they were able to adapt, find the edge they needed sooner than later, and powered through. It will force moves that will bring young players to the forefront as some tired vets tank out of the gate. No hanging around because of seniority. It will be extremely challenging. I think the intensity will be fun, if the COVID doesn't ruin the plan. Starters can be more like relievers as they only need to make 12 or so starts. Time to put up or sit. Managers decisions will be amplified. Every at bat will be important. I don't like runners on second to start extra innings, but then, I don't like umpires guessing at balls and strikes. But it is all baseball, and I can't wait to see who the new young fearless stars will be.
  17. As much money as the owners have made, and the fleecing of fans every game at the concessions and making them pay to park to see the game, it is time for them to take a hit...... "for the love of the game".
  18. The Greatest Country in the World? The clean edit.
  19. Well, it sure pissed off the white nationalists that he was elected, and woke up and accentuated their racial agendas. But Obama didn't cause that "racial division". I guess it was caused by the majority of the American people that voted for him, both elections. Usually, when the person that gets the most votes becomes President, it is more unifying. Seemed to me to be a much more comfortable time.
  20. Wow. First electing a black president is progress, and in the same breath, it apparently hurts the country, and sets us back by stirring up racial divisions, which is not progress. That doesn't really work for me. I read that Brock called the guy's point asinine. I think, if asked for my third party opinion, I would agree, but I'm also betting that surely he can come up with points that aren't asinine, therefore he is not asinine, nor did Brock call him that. Pointedly, I'm not a mod..... but I can read pretty good.
  21. Now that's funny! .....Only Kepler's mother's father was in the military - US Military, not German, he was American - US Army Intelligence Officer ...... sneaky ....... could be an outlier.....
  22. Well, I certainly understand that is your opinion of this 27 year old that was born in Germany, the son of an American mother (daughter of a U.S. Army intelligence officer, who moved around the country and the world as her father received different postings, finally setting in San Antonio, Texas as a teenager - Max might even be able to get dual citizenship?) and a German father. And we do fundamentally disagree. But I doubt he isn't fullfilling his contract with the Twins, and I doubt there is language in it that obligates him to some of the things you are assuming are not in his plans for the future. I know you are of a generation that views the world in a significant lens through twitter and instagram feeds and likes. The story isn't over, and neither is Kepler's part in it, probably. Thanks for speaking out. Words are great. Actions will do more, and I suspect you have some up your sleeve. But yup. I don't put baseball players, or professional athletes on a pedestal, or expect them to be more than an athlete for the short time of their lives that they can. I just expect them to get better every year, and be MVPs. The whole team. So there is my fanciful, demanding expectation. And it only leads me to disappointment. Such is my tragic life.
  23. This whole leader thing is something created by others that want heroes. Just because someone is a professional athlete, does not make them a leader. It makes them lucky. Lucky that their natural talent and hard work has gotten them something others aspire to. It doesn't automatically give them a platform that they have to aspire to or engage in. That does not automatically come with the territory. That expectation is not a fair one to have, in my opinion. But then, baseball players are not heroes to me. They don't have to have a command of the language, politacal aspirations, be a poet, be an activist, or include me into their private life at all. They can, but to me, it is not what he is required to do. At all. Entrusted to be a representative leader in this city where he is known and admired? Not by me. I expect him to get a bunch of hits and not not drop the ball and throw some runners out. No hero. No leader. Just a lucky 20-something that gets to play baseball for a lot of money. He is in his 20's! Not a leader in my book, at all. Time for Billy Bob's acceptance speech at the 2015 Golden Globes again.......
