  1. When that happend to my old man he would say that he needed to 'find a horse'. "why dad?" "So I can kiss his butt and stop licking my lips".
  2. People change their minds all the time. With Buxton and Kepler probably going to AAA for a few months and Arcia a crapshoot, there would be room for Hunter. Baseball is as much mental as it is physical, if he could help some of these young players, great.
  3. No. Not unless he's willing to start 80 games or less. If he agrees to a part time role, then I think he would be a good influence on the team.
  4. Also forgot to add, I don't care if they trade is made for a prospect or a 'major league ready player', just get the best players(s) you can, keep the pipeline stocked. If its players like Hicks or Plouffe that could help a contending team, I would think you'd be able to get multple teams interested and bidding. If you don't like whats offered, don't trade.
  5. Hicks and Plouffe would be on the top of my list as possible Twins to trade, mainly because they both play positions where the Twins have a surplus. Let Sano roll at third. Its too soon to make him a permanent DH and we know he's not going to play first base for a few years. Outfield is trickier because all the notable suspects - Rosario, Buxton, Hicks, Kepler, Arcia - are young and could regress, or have yet to prove themselves. I predict they'll start the season with Rosario, Hicks, Arcia in the outfield, Robinson in reserve, Buxton and Kepler at AAA. By June Arcia will be gone - released - Robinson soon to follow, then you have a rotation of Rosario, Hicks, Buxton, Kepler, then you have exess to trade. Just my opinion.
  6. There’s not a one of us on this blog who has spent enough time in the Twins clubhouse to say he isn't their spiritual leader, their motivator, their heart and soul -- and their MVP. How many teams and players have you seen with immense talent that flop?? If Tori provides that motivation then maybe he IS their MVP, and someone like Molitor, who is in the clubhouse every day, would know better than a bunch of keyboard baseball fans.
  7. I personally like that they play the Star Spangled Banner before every radio broadcast, I sing along, it makes me proud to be an American -- and it makes me think of all the men and women that have served our country. What gets old to me is Cory Provus constantly sucking up to Dan Gladden, "World Series champ", "all star", etc.
  8. I really like your idea of keeping May in the pen and combining him with Jepson and Perkins for a stellar back end of the bullpen IN 2016!!! But I'm sure you'll get plenty of squaking here THAT MAY SHOULD BE IN THE STARTING ROTATION. Getting Jepson at the trade deadline was definately worth a couple of prospects that never may make it to the the majors.
  9. Theres no such thing as too much pitching!!! Pitching is what wins ballgames!!! Good starting pitching is what got the Twins to this point, playing meaningful games in September. TR realized a couple years ago that the team needed better starting pitching and went out and signed the veterans Santana, Nolasco, Hughes, Pelfrey. None of them are aces but they've helped the Twins to the current winning record. Next spring the competition for the five starting spots will be intense but thats good for the Twins team as a whole. Sure there will be some disapointments from the starters, young or old, that get sent to the bullpen or AAA but the competion is good for the Twins TEAM. Eventually they'll all get their shot, injuries happen, the Twins are better off to have too many good starters rather than too few.
  10. Meyer has no one to blame but himself for not getting the call up. If thats bullying then I'll be the next pope.
  11. This may sound like a dumb question but how do you avoid hitting into double plays?? Its going to happen sometimes, isn't it??
  12. As far as the Twins in the playoff hunt, I haven't caught the fever yet, not scoreboard watching. I just like the fact that they're playing competitive, winning baseball in mid- September!!
  13. One thing I don't like about the playoffs is that they stretch on too long, you're playing the world series in November. Really? In Minnesota?? Do you like seeing baseball played when you can see the players breath or you have snowflakes coming down?? I don't. To top it off they play all the games at night when its in the 30's when they could play during the day and it might be 45 and sunny.
  14. My wife and I were listening to Sid's Sunday morning show a couple weeks ago and she said "Sid sounds like he's talking underwater". After I scolded her for being disrespectful we both had a good laugh.
  15. I think that Ryan and company will be watching Turner and Garver very closely this fall!!! If either one shows any signs of improvement, my guess is that the Twins won't be doing any catcher shopping in the off-season.
  16. Looks like after last nights performance that Pelfrey will be in the rotation the rest of the year.
  17. Maybe the snub of not getting called up for September will motivate him to work hard, extra hard, all winter to try and make the club out of spring training.
  18. Good article Seth!!! I never have understood the lack of love for Milone here on TD. All he does is goes out and performs, keeps Twins in games, and gives them a very good chance to win.
  19. That really worked out good today.... Must be Terry Ryans fault!!!!
  20. I actually thought it was pretty humorous, I knew before I started that it was going to be a rant.
  21. That bears repeating. Berrios had a wonderful year but for the Twins future and his future, its time to shut him down. I'd rather see him pitiching for the Twins five years from now rather than briefly in 2015 and risk hurting his arm. Pitching is the name of the game, protect your assets.
  22. Whether you like the decision or not to bring Berrios up I thought it was a good piece by Bernadino outlining some of the factors in the decision.
  23. So if the Twins trade Plouffe, and Sano gets hurt, who plays third base?? There doesn't seem to be much third base depth in the minors....
  24. If Buxton's psych is so tender that he can't handle being PH for, how is he going to handle a 0-25 streak?? Don't strike out four times in a row Kid and you won't get PH for.
