  1. Would you want Arcia brought up if he only played once a week and/or had 7 AB's per week? Would that be good for the Twins long-term?
  2. I'll second that motion!!
  3. Its tough to do but Molitor needs to give Dozier more days off or he's going to wear down like he did last year.
  4. Not to worry doc, after following TD for a couple of years you realize that some people are never happy, when the Twins were winning division titles, with a chance to goto the World Series, that still wasn't good enough, so if the Twins would happen to win 10 games in a row there would still be nit-pickers.
  5. This deserves more than a like!!!! Where can I find a triple thumbs up icon??!! Nine games over .500 is a lot more fun than nine games under .500!!!!
  6. I heard Molitor on one of his radio shows yesterday state that he'd like to get May into more high leverage situations. I'm sure Molitor and the Twins have a plan, they've probably shared it with May, but not with us peons.
  7. Hopefully Arcia is playing left AND right at AAA so he can take over for Hunter in 2016. And hopefully they're emphasizing defense, making him realize that playing good defense will get you major league at bats, that playing time is not all about swinging the bat. A hot swinging Arcia at AAA is a good problem to have, he's there in case of an injury, he's good trade bait, he's perfecting his skills for 2016, and if nothing else he'll be a good call-up and boost to the Twins in Sept. Should he replace Robinson on the Twins roster?? Not if he doesn't play at least 4 games a week, he's better off getting experience in Rochester.
  8. 90 wins and make the playoffs as a Wild card. Why? Starting pitching!!!! Its the main reason they are where they are, it keeps them in most games and is only going to get better with the addition of Santana, the maturation of Gibson and Milone, PLUS they have some good replacement starting pitching available in May and Berrios if they need it. Secondary reasons why is that the young hitters are starting to learn their craft and the team is starting to believe in themselves. Regardless of how they finish or how they do, I'm enjoying Twins baseball again!!!!!
  9. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that the Twins won't make any move at catcher at the trade deadline. It would cost too much in prospects to get any type of substantial upgrade. I wouldn't even bet on them doing anything this off season, I think its the TD community that is unhappy with Suzuki, not the Twins, they'll let Suzuki's contract run out and hope one of the minor league guys, Garver or Turner learns how to hit.
  10. I'm wondering if May was moved to the bullpen so they could showcase Pelfrey from now until the trade deadline, a couple of good starts and teams looking for another starter might bite. I agree on Plouffe too, but only if a team overpays. An off season trade would maximize his value, get teams in a bidding war for him. Plus it gives you more time to see if Sano is ready and if Arcia is out of his funk. As far as if the Twins are buyers or sellers, I say its too soon, give it a couple more weeks until the end of July, then this discussion is relevant.
  11. Good review Seth! Thanks!! I hope the Twins cycle thru these internal candidates rather than some of the has-beens that have been released by other teams. What makes the Twins think that they can get something out of them if they failed with other teams?? Reclamation projects are fine in the off season, maybe the player is still healing from an injury, maybe they've added another pitch but in mid-season if they've been release they're failures. Plus lets see what we have internally, and if nothing else give them some experience. I also would have liked to see Pelfrey to the pen instead of May. He's gone after this year, give May the starts to help the Twins in 2016.
  12. Or does it mean a 14 man staff?? Probably not but if they think they need 5 starters and 8 relievers now, how will they work it out with only 7 relievers? Especially if they have a couple of blowouts/short starts.
  13. Vargas needs to go pull a 'Milone', work hard, use the demotion as motivation, prove that he's a ML player, force his way back up. If he goes down and pouts - see Arcia - then he'll spend a nice summer in Chatanooga.
  14. It will be interesting to see where everyone is at by Monday!!! I'd like to see Pelfrey sent to the pen but my prediction is that May gets sent down.
  15. And it wasn't that long ago that there was a 'Free Vargas' movement here on TD.
  16. After spending that kind of money, if he is healthy, what do suppose the odds are that they won't start him right away?? 2%?? Or less?
  17. I don't see how you can send Milone down after how well he has pitched. Keep him in the rotation until he pitches himself out of it. I personally would like to see how he does the rest of the year. Other teams have 'crafty leftys' that seem to be able to win. Hughes and Santana, with the money they are making, are givens. Gibson is also a given. He's pitched well and is part of the future. Pelfrey has pitched too well to take him out. That leaves May. With that last dud he pitched himself out of the rotation. Sorry but thats the way competition works, you don't perform you're out. Put him in the pen, he could be really good there and can be moved back to a starter at a moments notice. Entertain offers for Pelfrey and Milone at the trade deadline, if its something good, trade one of them, other wise go with what I outlined above - Hughes, Santana, Pelfrey, Gibson, Milone, with May in reserve for the rest of the year.
  18. Your mention of the Big Red Machine brought back good memories!! When I was in the Navy in San Diego me and a buddy could get seats on the third base line cheap, put four beers in your coat pocket, bag of sunflower seeds, and then we'd get to watch Bench, Rose, Morgan, Perez, etc. After the game we'd play frisbee in the parking lot until the traffic cleared. Good times!!! Hopefully Buxton is still around during his injury stint to watch how a real base stealer gets it done.
  19. Only time will tell. He gets ANOTHER long stint on the disabled list to think about how he plays and what he should be doing differently. I know when I heard he was hurt sliding head first my first thought was "dumb chit". I hope he proves me wrong.
  20. I was listening to Dan Gladden on the radio broadcast and his comment was something to the affect of 'they don't block the plate if you come in spikes first'. The kid has a lot to learn, and its more than technique, he needs to learn how to play smarter.
  21. Thanks Seth for the trip down memory lane!!! Its amazing to me the number of players that didn't sign, keeping most of those players would have made a big difference for the Twins!!
  22. Keep the ads running but use that money to buy bigger servers!!! This site is slower to navigate from article to article than a lot of other sites that I goto.
  23. My guess is a position player, either D. Santana or Bernier, giving more positional flexibility in the NL parks. Has Santana been down long enough to regain his stroke AND CONFIDENCE??? If the Twins don't think so then it will be Bernier. A relief pitcher is only one call away if they end up on the losing side of a couple of blowouts.
  24. Baseball writers get read if they write about controversial subjects. No way the White Sox trade Sale now.
  25. You don't think there is less pressure batting down at the bottom of the order, being able to watch the pitcher throw, not batting until the 2nd or 3rd inning?? The less pressure on him the better chance he has to succeed. Isn't that what we all want?
