  1. Thanks for the report, Seth. Sure looks to be a fun summer of baseball, especially for the Twins. Thought last night's game was special. Reading today's report left me feeling most excited for how well Lewis and SW-R are doing. Haven't had a chance to watch the Lewis interview, but gotta believe he is more than satisfied with the start to his season after being on the shelf for two years. After last year's trip to Tokyo where he sat in the bullpen, SW-R sure looks like the pitcher the Twins hoped for when trading their ACE. Saw that Balazovic made his first appearance of the spring recently. The results weren't very good. Did you hear more about how he did, Seth?
  2. Interesting question. Lewis appears to be the next man who should be called up. But call ups will be determined in part by position of need. Another factor that will play into it is when he is called up is there a spot for him to play most games, ie, not sit on the bench. Cannot say how pleased I am that he is doing so well. Seems to be confirming what we all thought/hoped for back when he was drafted. Should the rumors be true and Correa really wants to stay with the Twins, they are gonna have to find another spot for Lewis to play. With Polanco at second and hopefully Miranda at third, outfield remains the only answer.
  3. What stood out to me was that his family got to the game on what, 24 hour notice? Assume the four they kept showing were his mom, sister, brother and wife/girlfriend/sister-in-law. When he was struggling, I thought the blonde gal was going to chew off all four fingers she was so nervous. But what a great experience for Cole and family.
  4. But can your wife, My La X boy, hit a 95 mph fastball? Just joking, appreciate the comment about a procedure I expect many of us hadn't heard of.
  5. Also agree that I would put SWR #1. But having two lesser known names amongst this trio is E-X-C-I-T-I-N-G!
  6. Haven't followed the Saints as close since the Twins began playing. Had noticed that he was off to a slow start, at least compared to last year. Glad to see from your comments above that he has picked it up of late. As for what can we expect, well the same first game for the Twins that he had for the Saints last summer would be ok!!! Will be interesting to see how long he stays.
  7. Like how Archer is throwing, especially after his having almost no spring training. Seems like Larnach is a different player in his second year. Good to see Kepler’s average moving up. Can’t find the words to describe my thoughts on Duran.
  8. Interesting. Where in Wisconsin are you from, Brock?
  9. With the Twins rather thin behind the plate, what are reports about Mack's catching abilities? Sure seems like his bat is coming around. Interesting move from third base, had he done some catching while in high school? Love the start SWR is having this spring, but is anyone else concerned with the number of walks and less than 60% strikes? Thanks for the report, Ted.
  10. Thanks for the summary, Seth, love it. Recall your writing about Helman when he was drafted, or sometime around there. If memory serves, he has hit very well at every step of his development, probably all the way back to Little League. So there is no reason not to expect him to hit well at AA and hopefully, beyond. Will double down on the above comments about Raya. Am so excited to see him pitching in games, finally. Hopefully, he has a full, productive season and can be on the fast track to Minnesota. How do you maintain winning team's year, after year, after year? With pitching, pitching, and more pitching! Sure looks like the FO is well on their way to developing that throughout the organization.
  11. Always enjoy these recaps, Nick, thanks. How about adding one stat in each of these weekly reports. That would be the Twins record this season with Buxton playing and their record when he doesn't appear in a game? Got a feeling those two stats would tell us all we need to know about how their season is going.
  12. So good to see Julien with games like yesterday. Also saw he had his second stolen base of the young season. Should he continue to play this well with the Twins, say by next year, can you imagine how exciting and scrappy they would be with Buxton, Arraez, Lewis, Martin and Julien? Now that’s the type of team/baseball I like to watch.
  13. Interesting situation with Godoy. I was curious what they would do for a third catcher when Rortvedt was traded. The recent injury proves teams should have a reliable third catcher on the 40-man roster. Hopefully, they will option Godoy to St. Paul when Sanchez returns, so he is available when needed.
  14. Could not agree more, stringer. Get Winder back to starting every fifth game, although one advantage is that his current work load will keep his innings down a bit this year.
  15. Wasn't an 85 fastball at the end of his career? A great front of the rotation starter for the Twins for so many years. Understand he didn't throw hard, but his fastball had to be harder than 85 most of his career, wasn't it? But as Warren Spahn once said, doesn't make a ......... difference how hard you throw if every pitch is exactly where you want it. Radke was a lot like that if my memory isn't failing me more than I think.
  16. Thanks for the updates, but Wichita and FM box scores are from earlier games. Agree that Smeltzer should be with the Twins soon. See him in a role similar to Winder, piggy backed with pitcher X.
  17. I was hoping for a catcher, but this kid is a much better prospect than expected from a PTBNL. The Twins site ranking has him around their top signings the past few years, Urbina, Rodriguez and DeAndrade. If accurate takes a good trade to a great one, IMO. Unfortunately, it tells me the Twins FO is looking beyond 2022.
  18. Add me to the list of those who enjoy games with Bremer on the tv. Missed it last year, a lot.
  19. Cannot tell you how pleased I was when I read the reason Raya went on the IL was to get his wisdom teeth pulled. Considering how well he pitched last time out, maybe should leave them in. And what a fantastic game, and start to his season, for SWR. Now lets all be patient and let him work his way up to the Twins on a realistic timetable and not start calling for his promotion next week.
  20. Buxton in the Twins lineup, Twins win a lot. Buxton out of the lineup, Twins lose a lot. I don't care what arm the pitcher throws with, get Arraez in the lineup....every day. Kid should get a day rest about every ten games. That would have him playing around 145 games. Sitting him about half the time makes no sense to me.
  21. Will agree with Mike, can't judge this trade until we learn who the PTBNL is. Will look a lot better should it be that catcher rated among their top 15 prospects. Well, that assumes he turns into a starter three years from now.
  22. With the Twins no longer available on most streaming services and many cutting ties with cable, no one is going to see these jersey's anyway....so it isn't a big thing to me. Otherwise, count me among the people who like baseball the way it was played the first 100+ years of its existence.
  23. Loved the pick when the Twins drafted Raya. Then disappointed when we didn't see him pitch last summer. But the wait sure as heck looks worth it. Kid is still what, 19? If he keeps pitching like this he could end up being special when he reaches the Twins. Another sad start to his season for Javier, so it is good to see him with a blast last night. But he needs to start getting on base more if he is ever going to make it. Kid was such a great signing a long time ago. Still hopeful, but hope is waning. Also good seeing Povich follow up his great first start with a very solid outing. Really believe that the pitching pipeline is solid with the first guys just beginning to arrive. The staff should be so much better in 2023 and moreso in 2024.
  24. Thanks, Seth. As you know, these reports and all you guys do is appreciated.
  25. I think one word describes both last night and the Twins minor league teams start to the season. WOW!
