    Varland is throwing smoke and is “pitching” like a leverage hammer. He better get a postseason roster spot. There are a few RP that I would leave off but he needs to be given the ball.

    Its really strange to look at the whole pitching staff and wonder “who do we leave off the playoff roster?” and then you look at the position players and how do you fit everyone on if they are all healthy. Its a very different position that we have not had in a very long time.

    He is quite the man. I sure hope he continues to play for the Twins as long as he can keep batters guessing and wiffing. His craftiness is so much fun to watch!

    Its not desperation, its that psychological brain development that tells people, I’ve succeeded before at this in high stress, this next time its going to be easier with an even better outcome. Rocco simply set that experience building to the side and told the rookie to sit down, let my crappy hitting last guy on the bench take 3 swings at it. I think thats a bad message to send and doesn’t help the team long term. Player development helps the team every time its tried.

    Wouldn’t a better message be “Hey, I know you missed the hit and run sign, now you have a bigger opportunity to walk this off, go get it done rookie.”

    How many times do you get real life 9th inning risp that means win or lose even tho it isnt last game of a playoff series do or die. That at bat could mean everything to a rookie’s development.

    That was an absolutely horrible pinch hitting decision by Rocco. We essentially have rapped up the central and have thee best teachable moment for Julien ….and he punts. WTF.

    Yes, Paddack as well and while you’re at it, Ober. Play the best players and sweep the mini series and kill it in round 2.

    The FO doesn’t have a great track record in trades so it made sense for them to not throw young developing talent out for a rental arm. The FO even said that they wanted the fixes in the team to come from within the organization. We are a young team and we have a great farm system. We are finally built to do some damage this year and in the next few. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

    Just going down town is an issue for many people since the riots. I’m more than a casual fan and last night was the first game I went to since 9/2019. There are tons of police in and around the stadium which is great. For a beautiful fall Tuesday evening, it seemed fairly bz but no where near 2019.

    Word has it that Willi is a decent golfer 🤣. Fun game to watch in person but $18 beers😳.

    I give them 15-20% chance of doing post season damage. Based mostly on health if it holds up.

    The Sheriff is pitching today for the surge and he is heading to the twin cities after that. He has stated that he is 100% ready for the varsity. I would bet that he is a lock for the post season long reliever role. Varland will also be on the pen. He is throwing 100mph heat. Since we will only be 3-4 starters deep. The whole middle relief issues will be left off the post season roster. Starters Lopez, Gray and Ryan RP’s Meada, Ober, Kuekel, Paddack, Varland, Duran, Pagan, Funderburk and Thielbar. Jax if they carry 13.

    It’s strange sometimes how guys just crash and burn. They both have a lot to prove and improve on in 2024.

    The score should have been 5 or 6 to zero entering the 9th. So many lost opportunities.

    If the rotation stays at 5. Lopez gets game #1

    Great depth win! Magic#13 with 20 to play so Cleveland is toast. We need more roster experience with possible post season players. Some players my be disappointed to be left off the post season roster. My bets are buxton and gallo are off as well as several bullpen guys. Very possible Funderburk and Paddack are in the pen.

    Yes it would have been nice to see him on the varsity in July and August but now that he is here, he will stay as long as he shuts the door when he toes the rubber. I do think he has an advantage that he is unknown to MLB. It would cool to do a deep dive in late September to see what the history of late season RP call ups in post season play is.

    If they put him on the 60 day il, then we can add to the 40 man roster.

    Thats a nice pipeline. SWR could be added to that if he ever finds consistency.

    Without naming names. 5 for sure. Most likely 8-10 due to injuries.

    He is a great depth piece if he shows up next spring like everyone thought he would this spring. Its one lost year and he could be back better than ever. As far as next year’s infield goes, he could be called up when the first key injury occurs.

    maybe gallo can come up with a mysterious injury so everyone can save face and we can get a young man added to the team to help out instead of strike out.
