  1. That's what they said they will do though, to prepare him as a starter this spring. At least that way, I imagine, they can control his workload in a sense.
  2. Martin I see sooner, and possibly opening day. Gordon especially doesn't really fit utility with the other players they have, so I'm KIND OF expecting a trade. I mean, is Gordon really a viable option anywhere other than left field? Lee, if he is healthy, is up a lot faster too. Maybe not opening day, but certainly before July. I do find it interesting you list Canterino as an April option. IF they are bringing him along as a starter, (even if eventually they move him to bullpen) I can't see a scenario that he debuts that quickly. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm also very interested in how much playtime time Severino has at the mlb level. Part of me thinks that he gets playing time only if there are a LARGE amount of injuries, but that's always an option. Even if he has power, I don't see how he supplants other guys if other guys are healthy.
  3. Nah, I want nothing to do with DeSclafini. IF they are trading Farmer, I'd want a prospect back instead, even if it is a B or C level guy.
  4. Curious where you see that the Twins had interest on a shorter term deal? If that is true, that's interesting that they would be thinking of signing a free agent starter. Plus, in essence, his deal is 2/30. Can't get much shorter than 2 years with opt outs right? Also, I absolutely take Burnes/Peralta (at minimum) well over Steele/Taillon in the NL central. For me it's not really that close.
  5. I had no idea he wasn't with Seattle anymore. Thanks for digging that!
  6. @harmony55Just curious, what is Sam Carlson up to these days? He was a Minnesota high school prospect drafted fairly high a few years back by the Mariners, and if I remember correctly he got hurt soon in his professional career. Not asking for trading purposes, just curious if you know what's going on with him?
  7. Blueprints are tough these days then. If someone isn't on the team, they just perish :)
  8. Just to add; Jon Morosi today connected Polanco and Kepler (not together, one of them) to Toronto for Alek Manoah. He said he didn't know that a conversation has happened, but Toronto does really like both Kepler and Polanco, and Manoah would be a reasonable ask. Food for thought.
  9. IF the Twins also see the prospects available as B or less level prospects, then the answer probably is that Polanco stays with the Twins right? Like Jonathan Clase, for me, would certainly be interesting to say the least. I don't know if he would be available either, but he has speed like not many Twins players in the organization have. Just wanted to throw out the idea.
  10. I mean, I like shooting for the moon too, but I don't see them making Ford available. There are other guys though that are appealing in my opinion.
  11. In April he was shut down with a biceps strain, and then in June when he was rehabbing he had a partial tear of his right lat, and that caused him to not be able to come back last year. As far as I can tell from google he SHOULD be having a normal offseason. But yeah, want to make sure you get the medicals cleared.
  12. I don't know, Seattle does have a fairly strong system. I'm not advocating to salary dump anyone, let alone Polanco. Just wanted to bring it up as a topic.
  13. Here is a hypothetical; let's say the Twins trade (not Polanco) with another team to add a quality starting pitcher (we'll call that team the Marlins just for an example.) IF Seattle still wanted to trade for Polanco, what is something that would excite you to get back in a trade that is from Seattle that ISN'T one of their starting pitchers?
  14. I’m guessing the primary addition for the Twins is going to be Trevor Rogers of Miami. Fans will feel let down because it’s not Luzardo, but Rogers is still young, team controlled, and has had success in the past that the team could unlock. The kind of deal, like they did with Gray and Odorizzi and others, where they got someone more at a low point than coming off a great year. If he is the primary addition, how would you feel about that?
  15. I wish Pagan well, and he got PAID relative to what other relievers will make this offseason. I don't know that I would bet much on him having another career year after 2023, especially with moving to the bandbox in Cincy. Smart of him to add an opt out after 2024 to get another contract if he does have a great year, and/or be able to opt in for 2025 if the results in 2024 don't wield great results.
  16. Just wanted to add; I really enjoyed reading out loud "And Teoscar goes to;" Thanks for that! Made my morning
  17. I view it as, Gray's production must be made up. I do think Paddack can do, at minimum, what Maeda provided in 2023 (100ish innings, about a 4 era.) That said, I'm not at all certain 2024 Sonny Gray can match 2023 Sonny Gray.
  18. IF that is the play I'm ok with it. They absolutely need another playoff level starter, so they have to be creative on how to get there.
  19. Love Polanco, and if he is still with the team opening day I would be happy. They need to add a playoff level starter to the rotation, and will need to be creative to make it happen. Polanco alone doesn’t net you a playoff starter. Polanco plus prospects may, or just a prospect package may. Have to see what others want. If Polanco’s legs are holding up, he is a very good player. I hope he is healthy. And I’m certainly not selling him off for a prospect package that is years away either
  20. Ray wouldn’t be back until mid season this year. Desclafini will be available opening day.
  21. This one is fascinating to me. Ray is a former cy young winner who will come back midseason from tommy john, AND he can opt out after the 2024 season if he chooses. Descalfini is healthy and serviceable, and Haniger had a number of good years with the Mariners. What are your thoughts on this move? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/mariners-to-trade-robbie-ray-to-giants-for-mitch-haniger-anthony-desclafani.html#:~:text=Mariners To Trade Robbie Ray,Anthony DeSclafani - MLB Trade Rumors
  22. Mostly because he has never made the majors, at least not yet. I know he was a major league 40 man waiver claim, but I didn't know if that should be shared in the MLB side or the AAA/minor league side. I ASSUME he will be in St. Paul to start the year, so that's why I chose here. Glad to be wrong, and maybe he does contribute to the major league team. That would be a good thing, right?
  23. Twins claimed Ryan Jensen off waivers from the Marlins just now. Looks like a reliever profile, and he hasn't yet made the majors. He was a first round pick of the Cubs in 2019. Their 40 man roster now sits at 38. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/twins-claim-ryan-jensen-from-marlins.html
