  1. See, the first thing I thought of Will Ferrell's commercials he did for Busch Light years ago, so I googled it. I was wrong, they were for Old Milwaukee, but still, that's where my head went. Just to share, they are funny to me...
  2. Maybe we owe each other a coke now? :)
  3. Twins sign Caleb Boushley to minor league deal. Had a cup of coffee up with the Brewers at the end of 2023, sounds like he is assigned to AAA St. Paul https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/twins-sign-caleb-boushley-to-minor-league-deal.html
  4. I'm not sure I can agree with saying that Cleveland "has enough offense." I mean, will there by 5 teams in baseball (Oakland not withstanding) that will have a worse lineup? I'm not certain. But their pitching should be really good once again.
  5. The Tigers run differential was -79, which equates to more of a 73 win season. Luck played a part. The Twins run differential was +119, which equates to more like a 94 win season. Luck also played a part. Getting Correa healthy (and not having plantar fascitis) along with Buxton able to play will arguably help more than any addition otherwise, no? Possibly add Miranda into that too. The Twins will be fine.
  6. Agreed on Witt. I could absolutely see him being the most talented player in the AL in 2024. Star is a good way of putting it.
  7. At minimum, it’s good that the alleged bomb threats also weren’t bi-lateral in nature. Maybe that would make them too woke.
  8. I guess I was thinking maybe as bigger proposal to go after someone even like Christian Javier. I know he has an extension through 2027, and he had a down year in 2023 compared to 2022, but I've always really liked his stuff. Just a thought. But I agree, I'm not certain Kepler is A) Getting traded or B)Even a good fit in Houston.
  9. This note came out a couple of days ago now, but I was curious if people saw a match for Kepler and Houston? I feel like Kepler is maybe trending towards being a Twin for 2024, but is there a fit in Houston that would make sense? What do you think? https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/astros-trade-rumors-left-handed-outfielder-free-agency.html
  10. It's possible, but you are mostly going by rankings compared to how teams view prospects/players. Merrill has played 45 games in AA in his career, and his numbers were more fine than great. Does Miami think he is MORE ready to help now than Lee, or even like him more than Lee long term? That's up to them. Or if they really want Julien, who does SD have that's as good that has already been in the majors? I'm only saying, don't compare just prospect rankings. A lot of what matters is fit and how much a front office values a player. That's all. I'm not saying this to say that the Twins will be getting Luzardo or anyone. But I don't know that I'd say that San Diego 100%^ can get whoever they want while other teams can't.
  11. Detroit does seem like a fun/young team to follow. I do think losing both Rodriguez and Lorenzen from their 2023 rotation is a bigger loss than what adding only Maeda and Flaherty can bring back to them, at least so far. That said, Skubal and Reese Olson are absolutely fun to get behind. I don't think they have enough of a lineup yet, but they do have some prospects who are close. I don't like their pitching, overall, anywhere near as much as Cleveland or Minnesota as currently constructed. But I do like their lineup an awful lot more than Cleveland.
  12. Here is a question I'll throw out, just for fun. What is the best/realistic option that would make you the MOST excited for the Twins to acquire? I don't think Burnes is available anymore, so in a lot of ways I would be the MOST excited to get Luzardo. I don't know if that is possible, but for me, that is the best pitcher available (potentially.) I will add, I don't see Chicago trading Cease in division. Does anyone have someone that would be BETTER than Luzardo that could potentially be available? Framber maybe?
  13. Just came here to say that expecting to get Alcantara AND Luzardo in one deal, that isn't related to fantasy baseball, couldn't at all be construed as reasonable. I mean, how in any way would the Marlins benefit from trading away 2 top of the line pitchers?
  14. One could absolutely argue that Salas alone would be fair for Luzardo. He is THAT good of a prospect, and San Diego could even look dumb giving him up. They certainly wouldn't move both Merrill and Salas in a package for one player. It'd have to be a lot more coming back. Just my 2 cents. But yeah, Merrill would be a good starting point if Miami wanted to trade with San Diego for sure.
  15. But if you are Miami, and you are trading an ace level pitcher with 3 years of team control, you aren't at all going to want old/expensive free agents with minimal control coming back. They certainly also are not trading Jazz either, he is their face in many ways. They aren't going to have any need for Vazquez or Farmer. They are going to want young/controllable talent. That is something the Twins have a lot of throughout their minors. I'd absolutely argue our #10 through #40 prospects are as strong as just about any team in baseball.
  16. I can’t see any way that the twins haven’t benefitted from their solid relationship with Boras. I have to think rostering Gallo all of last year also was to help with sustaining the relationship with Boras. The only way Boras has hurt anyone is the fans who want something to happen now. Boras wants his players to get the most money, or at least the most money in their desired location. If the team is fine being patient, that’s not hurting the team at all to do that right?
  17. I do think Luzardo should be the target here. Curious what Miami would think of Camargo as a catcher target? He certainly has power, and you could absolutely argue he is mlb ready. I would have to think Lee and Camargo would be more enticing than Lee and Vazquez for them, right? Curious what else would need to be added. But I’d start with that and go from there.
  18. I don't at all love his bat. But reading just his numbers, he had 49 stolen bases at AAA in 2022 in only 80 games. Once again, 49 stolen bases in 80 games. And that's before the bigger bases. The speed will play, if that is the call.
  19. Just curious, was Kyle Lewis ever a top 100 prospect or ranked all that highly after getting drafted? I know he was a high pick, and he did kind of breakout a little in the 2020 season, but I'm curious why the comparison here to Royce other than they both were 1st round picks in different drafts?
  20. That video shared of him, I truly didn't recognize him. Hopefully he does get a chance.
  21. I mean, he is trying to play for the Angels, so he has a better shot with them than probably half the league anyway right? If he does make it back, it'll be a good story :)
  22. Hoskins signed with Milwaukee. 2/34. Would have been good here
  23. I guess I assumed he wouldn't get another chance. Will be interesting to see if he can make it. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/01/angels-miguel-sano-in-agreement-on-minor-league-deal.html
  24. 26 year old Jared Solomon signed a minor league deal with the Twins. He had a cup of coffee as a reliever with the Reds in 2022, but his numbers overall, even in the minors, aren't all that pretty yet. My guess is, probably a decent fastball, probably a decent slider, and it appears the walks are pretty out of control (for lack of a better term, but saying your walks are "out of control" is a pretty good term, right? I'd imagine Bobby Nightengale would know a bit about him, since Solomon spent time with the Reds in the majors and minors for his entire professional career. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jared-solomon/23425/stats?position=P
  25. It is a big year for Ryan. If he can pitch a full season that looks like his March-June results from 2023, that replaces the production that Gray had last year (and possibly even then some, as Ryan threw more innings than Gray during that time period last year.) I'm curious what he is doing this offseason with the help of driveline and others. Adding the sweeper helped a bit it seems, but his fastball/split combo was so devastating for the first portion of the year. Thanks for the writeup! It was great!
