  1. What if he is at DH some, at 2B some, and at 1B some depending on the day and the matchup? Lee, to me, is someone that you will want in the lineup all the time too. He certainly can be 2b, SS and 3b, given the day right? Lewis also, 3b, dh, 2b, and maybe eventually outfield (but I'd imagine that's far away). Correa at SS, but he will need some days off. Having depth is a good thing.
  2. I just, that's not what Julien said he was going to do at Twinsfest. He said he is working hard on grounders, at both 2B and 1B, and will play anywhere to help the team win. The main thing, we need Julien's bat in the lineup. That's what's most important, right?
  3. That, or, if everyone is healthy, it's good to have some guys play a few positions well right? That's kind of the hope, I'd imagine. Especially if/when Jenkins is ready in 2025 (I think that's plausible) or even Emmanuel Rodriguez, the outfield will have things to think about in the next year or two also. Which, maybe, is why it's why they are talking about trades. Have to figure out the right mix right? Things like this tend to work itself out over time.
  4. Are they looking to add prospects? Yes Are they looking to add major league ready players for 2024? Yes Do they want to try to win it all this year? Yes Are they leaning towards a modest rebuild? Zero chance at this. I don't see where you are getting this part from. The payroll drop is one thing, but if they add another hitter and (eventually) a playoff level starter, I don't see how the rest of the roster at all screams rebuild.
  5. I've always liked Kirilloff too, and I fully expect him to start the year as the regular 1B. Just saying, if there are health issues, it's good to have Julien slide down to 1B, and that in turn opens a spot for Lee to take over 2B right? If Lee is ready soon, it might be more a thing of Lee vs Kirilloff instead of Julien vs Kirilloff. That's all. We'll see.
  6. I could see Julien at 1b too. Just throwing that out there. We will see if Kirilloff can hold onto the position, and for how long
  7. I think you answered the question of why Kepler wasn’t traded then if these were the options
  8. I mean, the Twins have actually lost quite a few coaches over the last 3-4 years to a number of organizations. I know the Mets pitching coach was with us, a few were taken by Boston and Kansas City. I'm probably forgetting a few. Their coaching staff/organization is pretty highly thought of/sought after. I know you probably won't believe this, but it is true.
  9. I wonder if the trade route to add a bat could make sense compared to who is available on the free agent market. For example, if we want someone who kills lefties, Harold Ramirez of Tampa makes sense to me. He also probably wouldn't cost THAT much via prospects/players to trade. Just a thought, and his salary is only about 4million for 2024.
  10. Here is the exact part from the Athletic article... "The Twins explored trade possibilities for the Milwaukee Brewers' Corbin Burnes, Chicago White Sox's Dylan Cease and other high profile possibilities, but those talks have proved fruitless thus far. It's possible the Twins could still pursue those avenues, especially after adding an intriguing top-100 prospect in Gabriel Gonzalez. The team has four top-100 prospects around which to build a package. For now, it seems as if those overtures are on the back burner. But look for the Twins to reinvest the money they received in the Polanco trade soon." They have looked at "other high profile possibilities" as well. I just think it sticks out a little bit that those two were specifically mentioned right?
  11. Yeah, Milwaukee would seem to watching pitching and/or good value. Their system is fairly stacked, especially with outfielders close to the majors. Still, having Burnes 100% be a free agent 9 months from now factors in. Cease, yeah I'm less certain he would come here. He'll be traded, and I'm kind of surprised he isn't a Baltimore Oriole by this point. Chicago just needs value of any kind, so we'll see with that too.
  12. I agree, I more bring it up because there has been smoke around Burnes being moved all offseason right? He won't be signing a contract extension with Milwaukee (that's abundantly clear) and he also is planning to 100% wait until free agency instead of signing prior to then with any team he may be traded to. With all of those things, it must also be added that the minute the season starts, once he is (hypothetically) traded, then he can't get the qualifying offer. That also lessens the value that teams will offer via trade for his services right? And with that too, there is always the potential of him (like any pitcher) getting hurt between now and August 1. I'm not saying he will be traded. Milwaukee can certainly play out the season with him and make a shot for the playoffs. I'd almost argue that they are the favorite in the NL central (much like Minnesota in the AL central) and that is with or without Burnes. Certainly they are stronger with Burnes, but depending on the return for him, Milwaukee is set up fairly well for the coming years with all of their young position players on their roster (that also sounds familiar.) Milwaukee certainly doesn't have a need for outfielders, but they are like most teams that would want pitching. I don't know what a fit would be, I just think that a chance of them trading him before opening day is higher than zero, and the Twins have certainly been connected that way all offseason. We'll see. :)
  13. Dan Hayes mentioned this morning that they have talked to Milwaukee and Chicago regarding Burnes and Cease, along with other high impact starters. But that move is on the back burner for now, as they focus on a hitter. He also mentioned that adding Gonzalez, another top 100 prospect, will help those trade talks
  14. Castro and Martin can both do that, or Keirsey or even bubba Thompson. At least defensively they may be fine
  15. I don’t know that I’d call it a rumor so much as it is Plouffe saying that Cease to the twins would be fun. And I do agree with that part :)
  16. JD Martinez or Jorge Soler would both be fantastic fits for the middle of the lineup. I'd also be ok with Solano coming back, especially if they don't trust Miranda's shoulder coming back fully. Unrelated; I saw a rumor (courtesy of Trevor Plouffe) connecting the Twins to Dylan Cease. I'm not saying it means anything, but he would be a FANTASTIC addition via trade.
  17. The 2024 draft has a number of strong prospects in the college ranks. That's kind of what I'm expecting in either the 1st round or comp round a. But more is better :)
  18. Cool, yeah that makes sense. The value in this deal was good for Polanco. I'll miss him too. More offseason to come :)
  19. If it were me, would you spend the money to upgrade 1B (Kirilloff and Miranda) or backup CF (Castro) and/or corner OF (Gordon?) My mind went first to JD Martinez. Maybe Adam Duvall. Either of their bats would help.
