  1. It'll be good to get Keaschall back before the deadline too. That arguably will fill one of the spots lists assuming health otherwise. I think someone who can play 1b/3b/dh or some combo of two of those should be easy enough to acquire otherwise.
  2. I can't at all say I know much about him as a player. But the Twins picking 16th but having the 12th most money means they COULD float someone down like him.
  3. Would they need to? Pablo's next start would be Tuesday, and there is an off day Monday. Festa COULD go his regular turn today and still be on 6 days rest for Tuesday. SWR went yesterday, so he'd even be on a week's long rest.
  4. Apparently he would have started yesterday (Monday 6/2) but the games got rained out. He's playing for the FCL Twins today, and so far he is 0-1 with 2 walks and a run scored. In the 1st he reached base on an error but then was thrown out attempting to steal 2nd base. To me that's a good sign that his ankle feels ok if he is trying that. Mostly it's just really great to see his name in the box score again.
  5. Flaherty was more dominant in 2024 than Paddack has been in 2025 so far, but if he continues I do think it's reasonable to compare the deals. I guess we'll see. Lots of factors at play, and I'm definitely not of the mind that they trade Paddack now. I just meant I can see a scenario where the Twins do sell some of their free agents to be (Castro, Paddack) but ALSO be open to buy.
  6. I agree completely. More I meant I could see Alcala moving on from us and also having a good 30 inning run somewhere else. And you KNOW at that point there would be angry fans mad about letting him go. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, remember this thread :)
  7. Last year Detroit did that with Jack Flaherty. They also made the postseason.
  8. Not today no. Even if his era goes back closer to 4, the innings he provides have been so valuable. IF Festa and SWR are truly ready again come the deadline, and Zebby has stuck around (and there aren't other injuries) then I can see them selling AND buying at the deadline.
  9. I agree, more I was just saying small samples can be telling. That's all. Alcala has good looking stuff, but I agree a change of scenery may be right for him. And with a change of scenery, maybe he finds some level of success.
  10. ONLY came here to say; go check out Ronny Henriquez's numbers so far this year in the Marlins bullpen. He is looking like someone who got away too soon right now. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=henriq000ron Hopefully Coloumbe is back asap. I'd also imagine reliever is on the checklist prior to the July deadline.
  11. Long ways to go to get to the famed Brian Dozier rumored trade to the Dodgers thread back in the day though :)
  12. Yeah, that'd be too much in my opinion. But Raya as a starting point could work. I don't think Culpepper would go for someone like Diaz who is only team controlled for one more year. IF the Rays were open to trading him, I'd imagine Raya and a low level arm could interest them for sure.
  13. I do think they will add a bat before the deadline. I don't think it HAS to be someone who has a ton of team control or would cost a LOT in terms of prospect capital. That's partly due to not needing to trade those guys, but also I'm just assuming there will be a stoppage after the 2026 season. So if they can trade for someone who is team controlled for the rest of this year and/or for 2026, that'd certainly help for now without having to trade a ton away. Someone like Yandy Diaz would be great in the middle of the lineup. His actual numbers are all down, but his expected numbers are all outstanding, his baseball savant page is all red, and the Twins have made multiple trades with the Rays over the past few years. He is team controlled through 2026, and the Rays have a number of 1B prospect types who are close to the majors or already up like Jonathan Aranda. I do agree with the premise of the article though. And because the Twins are playing well, I want them to make an attempt to go for it this year.
  14. My GUESS is it's Festa too, but he hasn't pitched since 5/6. Any reason why? Zebby last went on 5/10, just for comparison. My guess is it's Festa, but that feels like a long layoff.
  15. Part of me thinks the character clause should be upheld for situations like this and others. And part of me just thinks the hall of fame should be a museum that talks about the history of the sport. I guess I don't have as strong a feeling on it as I used to. He certainly was a major part of the history of the game. How do you tell the history of the sport without including it's hits leader, or for that matter it's homerun leader or arguably most dominant starting pitcher of all time? We'll see if he does get in now. I suppose if Harold Baines got in, then every slightly above average player should right?
  16. I do appreciate having the follow-up description confirming that it is satire. Oof, I was drinking coffee when I saw the headline. NOT ready for that.
  17. Or, if they believe Zebby or Festa are ready to be in the top 3, then you could arguably trade someone for what they deem a HAUL right? I think of it more as opportunistic compared to having to sell off. For 25 though I have to think the Cubs would be a team that would make more sense than Baltimore though
  18. I do think Basallo would be a good starting point. Interesting thought exercise. However, are the Orioles really going to be in a place to add high end pitching? Their record and being in the AL east, even with their lineup, makes me think they will be wary of trading for pitching this season. Could be wrong.
  19. Can we get a draft board of best/most random questions being asked in the listener segment? Who is best at making a western omelet has to be flying up those rankings :)
  20. Yeah, I think so, barring injuries. Sometimes fresh starts can be good.
