    It sucks, but this version of Ryan isn’t a playoff level starting pitcher. And they can’t hit a good quality aaaa pitcher in Dobnak. Hopefully they add in more places than just the bullpen.

    Hopefully he stays on the list until he feels as close to 100% as possible. He hasn't been right for a few weeks now. Get him better asap. And agreed with others, I'd much rather see Jenkins up now instead of Gray.

    Oh man, Royce is so much fun to cheer for. Good to have good vibes. Also fun to see Bradley when he is on. He can be so dominant. The double plays today felt like back-breakers. Sometimes that happens. Glad they pulled it out. Fun win for sure. Keep it going! My hope is Joe Ryan looks solid tomorrow. Doesn't even need to be spectacular, just solid.

    That's true, but I still think it would be a pretty massive downgrade with the bat from Jeffers to Caratini full time. But maybe they would be ok?

    Curious people's thoughts on this; After watching today's game, Taj Bradley to me would 100% be the guy I would want to start game 1 of a playoff series for this team. This is due in part both A) How dominant he can look when he is throwing strikes, as well as B) How Joe Ryan has generally faired in the 2nd half of seasons for the last, well, ever. Do people agree? Disagree? And frankly, in my opinion, if they can add a starter before the deadline, I'd very much want to add someone who is able to start a playoff game as much as I'd JUST want an innings eater type. I guess we'll see how much that would cost. Fun win today, but overall, how would you rank the rotation options for the team currently as of today?

    I think any paragraph talking about trading Jeffers and the risk in not getting something for him after the season ALSO should include the risk of trading our #3 hitter in a year they are apparently going for it to a team that also will have playoff aspirations. These last 2 months of ball for the Twins, when they are trying to win, (along with a probable work stoppage next year) has to be worth quite a bit if they are going to trade their #3 hitter in Jeffers. So what the person above mentioned, if someone like Emerson Hancock is available, that is the type of move that would make moving Jeffers ok. Still would suck to face Seattle in a playoff series then, but theoretically there would also be other moves

    Sounds good to me. I'd love either Brazoban or Weaver (or both) in a deal with the Mets. Curious how much that would cost, but I'd be all for it. Good article!

    I agree. I'd prefer, very much, someone like Gausman if it is a rental. But mostly I just don't want to not do anything.

    Really? Zebby had one good start against Oakland and now you're certain it's smooth sailing for him? Prielipp is already past his innings limit and will probably be shut down, and Paredes is hurt. This rotation is held by duct tape no? I certainly would trust him in a playoff start right now over Ober as the 3rd starter, but to each their own. That said, it would be more fun to go younger. I'd be curious how much they are willing to trade. I don't anticipate moving TOP prospects though.

    Virtually every list of international kids who are signing at 15 or 16 (or 13 in some cases) includes zero pitchers. All of these kids are too young and wouldn't have been stuck just pitching still at this point.

    In reality though he is only signed through 2027. And if we had 5 Joe Ryan's I'd agree with your argument. Would I like a younger and cheaper pitcher with more upside too? Yeah. Can this guy still give you innings to keep you in a game? I do think so. And if they are not wanting to trade away the top of their prospect pool (which I agree with) then this is someone who theoretically upgrade from everyone not currently named Ryan or Bradley in the rotation, and for sure help preserve Prielipp's innings among others. Again, not my first choice. But IF this move were made, you get the rationale, right? At least for the last 2 months of 2026 before 2027 and the unknown?

    Is he a good teammate? Would he be good in the clubhouse? He certainly has playoff experience, and even if he is in the later years of his playing career, he still would get you 5 or 6 innings most starts. I don't love the idea of making sure he is on the roster for 2028, but I'd be surprised if he can get to 180 innings next year. That said, if he does, that's not a bad thing. The quick google search I found had Bryce Miller speak volumes on how much Castillo has helped him grow as a pitcher. That wouldn't be bad to add to our rotation either. And frankly, since he has taken on the role of a 6th starter at times, it seems like he is open to that idea too.

    And you shouldn't. But still, winning the powerball has the same odds as getting struck by lightning twice in your lifetime. One of 12 teams that make the playoffs win it every year. Of course some teams have more experience or more talent or are built more for playoff success. But it's still getting there that gives you a chance, and that's certainly higher odds than any lottery. Plus, there is nothing saying the Twins will sell the farm to get to the playoffs. They have a very deep prospect pool by comparison, and frankly a LOT of left handed hitting outfielders to hopefully add some pitching talent here in the next week or so.

    I know it doesn't happen often in Minnesota it seems, but if your team DOES make the playoffs, then your team DOES have a chance of winning it all.

    I was more speaking to his k rate. It's always been double what Volpe has. Plus, Volpe is more than 4 years younger than Outman right now today, so they are still different in both age and k rate.

    And MAYBE that's true. That could be. All of this is just a rumor, right? What will be fun is when trades happen we can actually break down the actual deals, right? For now, it's all rumor and conjecture.

    Gleyber Torres left New York and was better his first year in Detroit than his last year in New York. He's still only 29. But you aren't wrong; for the Yankees or any team, there aren't tons of 24-25 year olds who had success with a team, fought injuries, and then were moved out due to another player in their position coming up. I'm having a hard time finding comps for this kind of deal for players that young. Plus, the trade for Outman was for a reliever that has always had injuries right? This deal IS more valuable in that sense right?

    Sure, but Volpe is still barely 25, and has had success in the majors. That's the difference for me compared to everyone else you mentioned. And who knows, maybe this trade rumor never materializes and it doesn't happen. I'd just be open to the idea of it is all.

    Again, apples and oranges. Volpe's k percentage this year is basically half of Outman's. Volpe is about 22%, and Outman is over 40.

    Anyway, think about this; how better to help the infield defense overall than to get Clemens off of 2b? Houston isn't ready, so if you have Volpe at SS and Culpepper at 2B, that is a MUCH improved infield defense to what is currently being thrown out there no? Doesn't mean Volpe is promised anything for 2027. But for the last 2 months of the year, that is a stronger up the middle defense than this team has had all season. That helps run prevention, no? And really, either Clemens or Lewis, their best defensive position is 1b right?
