  1. Is this a rumor somewhere?
  2. Just throwing it out, what with Emmanuel Clase being suspended indefinitely now for being potentially involved with the betting scandal that Luis Ortiz got caught up with. That is one less high-end reliever available at the deadline. Awful for Cleveland. But have to think this adds to the desperation of a team looking for a high end reliever. We'll see if this changes how much the Twins are offered for Jax or Duran
  3. Agreed on everything. None of those deals actually make all that much sense.
  4. I think fun is a good thing, and people should have as much joy as possible.
  5. If he is promoted to AA in August after the deadline, would that change anything in terms of timeline? Gotta say, I wanted him in the draft last year. Curious if he could be a target. Janek feels a bit rich for Castro though, but it'd be fun to get him into our system.
  6. I don’t know how they would get each of these prospects for Ryan. That transaction would be crazy
  7. I still think Kirilloff without that crazy injury would have been a player. Snakebit for sure. This is also why it's important to trust your development staff. I have to imagine they are targeting players who either have already debuted or are super close. Can't imagine if they trade someone like Jax that they will target players in low A.
  8. First, you are taking a super narrow view at all of this. How does Buxton NOT count as Falvey's, what with Falvey being the team president and all? I can't wrap my head around that. And then just brushing off that Keaschall hasn't had a cup of coffee yet even though he dominated in the minors? Wallner I agree that we don't know truly what we have. But the extended time with an .800 OPS over the course of multiple years shows me something is in there. Lewis certainly when healthy has shown to be above average. You can fill a glass more than a 1/3rd of the way. You seem to be someone who can't even fill it half empty.
  9. Lewis when healthy would disagree. Buxton this year would disagree. Keaschall I think would disagree. Wallner is still up for debate, but Jeffers (compared to other catchers) would mostly disagree. I don't know what happened with Correa, but just broadly saying they don't develop hitters I think is incorrect.
  10. Isn't this sentiment exactly WHY they should get two top 100 prospects if they are going to trade either? They have been good at building relievers. If they can get two top 100 prospects (meaning you are asking double what their value is in baseballtradevalues) then you go for that. If teams aren't meeting that asking price, then you hold onto them.
  11. Well, if a team is desperate at the deadline, they HAVE to pay good prices to supplement their team right? If a team wants a good player, they have to pay the price.
  12. Yup, and this headline then is misguided. It should be changed to Jax OR Duran, not Jax AND Duran. That's lowballing both of their value, even compared to very recent trade deadlines.
  13. The Marlins got a top 50 prospect and 3 other good players for Tanner Scott last year at the deadline, and Scott was a free agent to be. Teams pay more when there is more ongoing team control. The value ask of two top 100 prospects here (even if it isn't exactly how MLB or fangraphs or baseball reference or Keith Law lists their own individual top 100 at any given point) still would apply here.
  14. I know, but if you look at Passan's original quote, he wrote it as the Twins are looking at 2 top 100 prospects if they are to trade either Jax or Duran. Just because the headline here wrote it differently doesn't change that.
  15. I took it to mean one or the other. That's what the Twins have said, 2 top 100 prospects for one of Jax or Duran.
  16. That Dodgers one would be REALLY fun. How about something like Tristan Casas and Payton Tolle from Boston? Just to throw out one more idea.
  17. Just came here to add/update; #50 listed here, Angel Cervantes, was taken in the 2nd round of the draft by Pittsburgh. He has since committed back to UCLA and won't sign his pro contract. Should be a fun follow for the draft in 2-3 years.
  18. C/1B/DH. #4 hitter. To me he is a kind of bat you find room for. I struggle with Caissie a bit, because I like his power but I don't at all like his K rate. I'd be open to it if he could be at 1B. Is he truly a better longer term option than what they have for outfield prospects?
  19. I absolutely take Ballesteros over Caissie with his K rate. Don't even need Ballesteros to be a catcher, I just like his bat. Wiggins, I'd like to see what our pitching development could do with him. I think the Cubs would have to consider adding someone even as highly thought of as Cade Horton to make this work though. Just Ballesteros and Wiggins would be something that could be a deal for Duran. For Ryan is a lot more expensive.
  20. I like both of those prospects from the Cubs. I think if the Twins are dealing Ryan, this trade is at least one more higher end prospect short on the Cubs side.
  21. Just for comparison's sake, look what the Padres gave up for Tanner Scott at last year's deadline. The Padres sent Miami 4 prospects (all in the Padres top 5 at the time) including #44 overall Robby Snelling. And Scott was a free agent at the end of last year.
