  1. Maybe that is why they are trying to copy the Twins
  2. Hmm! Is it my anxiety or this is not looking good? Out of Wheeler, Hamels to the Braves. At this rate it is going to be Berrios, Odorizzi, and the kids.
  3. I totally share the kids feelings and fears. And I am over 60.
  4. I guess with Rosario's defense is the same than with his hitting: He is so out of the Gauss bell, that is very difficult to judge. Sometimes he swings at pitches that he shouldn't swings... and a few times he hit them for home runs. Defending, sometimes he attempts throws that he shouldn't. And in one of those he nabs a guy that nobody else can. Of course, sometimes he throws the ball to nowhere.
  5. I don't think we should take an Oh,no! approach because he was caught using PEDs. To begin, 2 of our cornerstone players right now, Cruz and Polanco, had PED-related suspensions. And nobody cares. Second, of course the suspension will be a factor on the negotiation of the contract. Third, even when many people is assuming that he took the diuretic to mask something, MLB specifically reduced the suspension because they found no evidence that he was trying to mask anything. So, an extension for Pineda could be a good move for next year.
  6. Related to this: Any new on Marwin? That guy was plugging so many holes... If he can come back would be huge.
  7. Actually, a diuretic could be included in some pills that promise you to lose weight fast, and it works because you lose water. It is the worst way to lose weight, because you get dehydrated, but works in the short term (Example: a fighter trying to give the right weight before a fight.
  8. Besides, a non call could work if the reason is a perceived lack of effort or unwillingness to pay attention to coaching. I don't know if this is the case with Romero. Apparently he just have poor control. Hopefully for the good of the team and himself they could find a fix
  9. Seeing how Duffy and May handled these hitters, put more in perspective how awful Gibson was
  10. My guess is that Cron is not fully healed of that thumb. My feeling is that when Astudillo is ready (he is already in rehab. assignment), he'll come back and Cron to IL. Astudillo can play 1st or can play 3rd and Sano 1st. When Buxton comes back that will help also, but it is not happening soon, it seems.
  11. The guy is just coming out of a tendinitis and he is using him back to back? Isn't that asking for trouble?
  12. Man, the Indians right now are the kings of BABIP
  13. Hmm! I wonder if Buxton is going to stay out more than planned (I really hope not)
  14. Why trade for Romo if they are going to use May in this situation?
  15. I could say is the story of the games against the Yankees since I remember. Besides, the Phil Cuzzi foul call, I remember many games in which their pitchers got a strike zone much wider that ours, I remember specially a game in which the pitcher was Mike Mussina. He was getting a strike zone that was ridiculous. A comment by Bert at that time was that sometimes you get calls on reputation.
  16. And to think that Terry Ryan wanted him to play the outfield
  17. Actually, what worries me the most of last night game is Garver. He has been excellent. I hoe is nothing, but those things in the heel or the foot are pesky.
  18. I wonder if doesn't need to have his vision checked. I am saying because he is late on fastballs, or obviously guessing. Like he isn't able to see the pitch until late. I assume that a vision check is part of their yearly routine, but just wonder
  19. My humble take: Arraez played very well, but it doesn't hurt anything having him as depth in AAA. Astudillo probably is not so hot right now, but there is really no need to add more people to the bullpen (unless we are talking about signing Kimbrel or a trade for a really good arm). So, with his versatility, I would leave things as they are so far. If we have a couple of games that tax the bullpen, things may change.
  20. Guys, keep your cool. They planned it like that. Just to keep everybody sharp
  21. I guess the issue is not only error but bias. The error that the robot could make is related to the limitations of the optics, and presumably there is no bias there (unless somebody rigs the machines, and that can be tested). Humans, all of us, have bias, most of the time unintentional. But all of us pre-judge at some point, because what we thought we saw is different of what we saw. Besides we get tired, annoyed, etc. That doesn't happen with a robot. That is why I am for robocall of balls and strikes.
  22. Want to end tanking? Put relegation, like in Premier league in soccer. Worst team is out of MLB. (Can play in a lesser league). A variation could be the worst team of the last three years, or something like that. I know owners would never agree to that, but it is a sure way to end the tanking.
  23. What are they going to do with Mejia? I believe he is out of options.
  24. My memory of Polanco last year is the he was defensively decent. From time to time a weak throw, but he was making the plays he was supposed to make. Lately he has been horrible. Not only him, but there are several that are playing like if the offseason can't come soon enough. The team seems to be mentally out.
