  1. I guess with Rosario's defense is the same than with his hitting: He is so out of the Gauss bell, that is very difficult to judge. Sometimes he swings at pitches that he shouldn't swings... and a few times he hit them for home runs. Defending, sometimes he attempts throws that he shouldn't. And in one of those he nabs a guy that nobody else can. Of course, sometimes he throws the ball to nowhere.
  2. I don't think we should take an Oh,no! approach because he was caught using PEDs. To begin, 2 of our cornerstone players right now, Cruz and Polanco, had PED-related suspensions. And nobody cares. Second, of course the suspension will be a factor on the negotiation of the contract. Third, even when many people is assuming that he took the diuretic to mask something, MLB specifically reduced the suspension because they found no evidence that he was trying to mask anything. So, an extension for Pineda could be a good move for next year.
  3. Actually, a diuretic could be included in some pills that promise you to lose weight fast, and it works because you lose water. It is the worst way to lose weight, because you get dehydrated, but works in the short term (Example: a fighter trying to give the right weight before a fight.
  4. Besides, a non call could work if the reason is a perceived lack of effort or unwillingness to pay attention to coaching. I don't know if this is the case with Romero. Apparently he just have poor control. Hopefully for the good of the team and himself they could find a fix
  5. My guess is that Cron is not fully healed of that thumb. My feeling is that when Astudillo is ready (he is already in rehab. assignment), he'll come back and Cron to IL. Astudillo can play 1st or can play 3rd and Sano 1st. When Buxton comes back that will help also, but it is not happening soon, it seems.
  6. I could say is the story of the games against the Yankees since I remember. Besides, the Phil Cuzzi foul call, I remember many games in which their pitchers got a strike zone much wider that ours, I remember specially a game in which the pitcher was Mike Mussina. He was getting a strike zone that was ridiculous. A comment by Bert at that time was that sometimes you get calls on reputation.
  7. Actually, what worries me the most of last night game is Garver. He has been excellent. I hoe is nothing, but those things in the heel or the foot are pesky.
  8. I wonder if doesn't need to have his vision checked. I am saying because he is late on fastballs, or obviously guessing. Like he isn't able to see the pitch until late. I assume that a vision check is part of their yearly routine, but just wonder
  9. Want to end tanking? Put relegation, like in Premier league in soccer. Worst team is out of MLB. (Can play in a lesser league). A variation could be the worst team of the last three years, or something like that. I know owners would never agree to that, but it is a sure way to end the tanking.
  10. What are they going to do with Mejia? I believe he is out of options.
  11. My memory of Polanco last year is the he was defensively decent. From time to time a weak throw, but he was making the plays he was supposed to make. Lately he has been horrible. Not only him, but there are several that are playing like if the offseason can't come soon enough. The team seems to be mentally out.
  12. my take is that Santana is the voice of the clubhouse in this case. I know that the Manual of the Good GM says that you should trade your good pieces when it doesn't look like you are going to make the play-offs, but you shouldn't expect the players to like it. And Santana said it, that's it
  13. The problem with this is that the generation of Buxton, Sano, Rosario, Berrios was supposed to be "The Team". If this fails the Twins are in really big trouble for years
  14. Regarding Reed, yes it was good that they didn't score a run on him, but I have to say that 2 of the outs were of the "loud" variety. He was lucky on those two
  15. Wasn't the Jose debut in Detroit also terrible? Or it was his second game?
  16. You are forgetting the unforgettable Marquis.
  17. I would say yes. The core of this team is young, so it would be in place for 5-6 years minimum. If not now, then when?
  18. For what I could see on TV, Enns seems a lefty with a sneaky fast ball but not much else. The curve ball didn't fool anybody, at least yesterday. Maybe a talk with Bartolo about how to mix the pitches can help.
  19. •Falvey took some guff on this site for not adding pitching during the offseason. Why? Cuz the pitching has been well below average. So we wanna dump the few effective guys we have and start from zero, again? Good pitching is hard to find. Stockpile that stuff. •MLB isn't the NHL, where you can draft Connor McDavid and become a competitor overnight. Tanking is a dubious strategy at best. Unless you want the KC or Pittsburgh 20 year rebuild. •People wanna trade guys like Dozier, ESan, Kintzler, at peak value, because they see flaws: age, contract issues, regression/unsustainability.... Somehow, other teams scouts seem to miss all this. Any prospect coming back will likely have some major hole in their game as well. •Keep good players. Add more. I wasn't aware there was a salary cap in baseball. Trading Dozier or ESan would make sense if there was a cheaper option of similar ability to take their place. People thought Polanco would slot right in to Dozier's spot - the guy with a lower batting average than Buxton. •Garver and Gordon - ready, or nearly soi. So if EE could nab a Meija, yes. Giminez, never know. But you are selling from a position of of depth. Selling pitching, for this team? •Attendance is in free fall - even with a whiff of respectability. Most of the vaunted top prospects are on the club. Build a culture of winning dammit. Agreed 100%. I think we are over-reacting to getting swept by the best and hottest team in baseball right now. And these were close games, it is not that they destroy the Twins like the Astros did in some games. The rest of the schedule is pretty soft from now on. Let's see what happens.
  20. For the moment, I would replace Duffy in his role with Hidenberger, and let Duffy figure it out under less pressure. Yes, he had 2 quick outs, but were 2 hard hit fly balls.
  21. I would say it needs help for sure, but with the addition of Busenits, Hiledenbrger and Boshiers it looks better. Now it is a question of 1 or 2 more arms.
  22. Judging by the game today, nobody seems to be interested in having a job next year. Oh, boy!
  23. I agree with spycake. I think the mess with the Berrios no-promotion was one that hurt. Not only because Berrios didn't come up, but also it meant a complete mess with May: Starter-bullpen-1 start (which was predictably short and awful) and back to bullpen again. All the others, you can argue, but that one is pretty hard to defend.
