  1. Lee looks so bad. How long will they be able to send him out there like that?
  2. Gray reminds me potentially of Kyle Farmer, who peaked as a solid bench player ages 30-32 after improving his hitting while still being good defensively.
  3. It's not a good sign that Tom Pohlad thinks vibes can be worth 10 wins. Just from an intelligence and baseball preparation perspective.
  4. The Twins themselves recognized this and made significant changes to their international operations over the past several years. So your observations in that regard add nothing. Meanwhile, none of that explains how you could possibly evaluate this current class, you literally have no clue what you're talking about but somehow felt confident in trashing it?
  5. This seems really speculative if not outright fictional. You don't seem to be recognizing how this stuff works on the ground -- there's no mystery among any teams about who the most exciting 13 or 14 years old are. The alignment between players and teams is very complicated and highly dependent on interpersonal relationships in the Dominican. Player evaluation is secondary. Every club has a huge miss rate on 16 year olds. There are other similar comments in this thread, basically issuing strong opinions on a subject without even the most cursory understanding of it.
  6. I also like the strategy of focusing on a quantity of second tier guys. The younger a player is, the more unpredictable their future. Going all in on 16 year olds is risky.
  7. Kreidler is so bad I just read this as a vote of confidence in Kaelen Culpepper. There's a good chance the Twins already rate KC as their best SS.
  8. The Twins don't actually have excess pitching though. This thread and others like it are full of complaints that the Twins don't acquire premium talent in exchange for mediocre talent. I am 100% certain that if other clubs offer the Twins massive talent upgrades for no reason, the Twins will happily accept.
  9. Neither Ober nor SWR can bring back anything impactful. Ryan or Lopez is just taking with one hand and giving to the other. Get worse in the rotation for an upgrade elsewhere. Why? There's no guarantee even the current rotation will be a strength. There is no magical series of trades out there. This isn't a video game.
  10. It's what they can afford, I really don't see the point of pretending there's some easy magic fix and Falvey just loves losing instead. It's a childish way of looking at the situation.
  11. The kinds of trades people want are very rare and, at the end of the day, trades shuffle assets around but don't change their immediate value. The Twins need a bunch of additional value but can't take on payroll and prospects take time/are unpredictable. Shortcuts are a fantasy.
  12. I don't understand what all the armchair GMs would do with no budget. Make fantasy trades that can't happen in real life I guess.
  13. It's pure fantasy to think the Twins can accomplish anything by going into "rebuild" mode. They don't have enough assets to make any difference. They should try to win as best they can under the budgetary constraints, end of story.
  14. Mountcastle is probably better than Hoskins, and cheaper if O's pick up some salary. I'm not a big fan but it's not the worst idea at low cost. Mayo has always had skeptics among scouts despite his power, and with his struggles I don't see teams offering much for him.
  15. Why not just acquire Bobby Witt instead? lol
  16. For sure, the Twins need to draft well, make good international signings, etc., but that's just not the problem right now in the organization. It's farm system is already above average in depth and quality.
  17. Teams are very good at protecting the right players at this point, why pick some random pitcher that isn't better than a bunch of existing minor league arms?
  18. I love following prospects but there is no number of prospects that can guarantee MLB success -- you could look back at prospect snapshots of several organizations combined, say 150 "legit" prospects -- and easily fail in many cases to produce a good MLB team. The Twins need to improve their MLB club. Picking up a few random prospects is beyond pointless.
  19. There is no rational reason to trade Buxton, it's such a bad idea I don't even worry about it happening.
  20. Ober has minimal value at this point, he didn't look good down the stretch and has a long history of injuries during his career. I would trade him for a marginal prospect and move on. SWR currently projects as a 5th starter, not much trade value there either. I do think he's a breakout candidate but other clubs can't assume that happens. Lots of really bad trade speculation in this thread, other GMs have no interest in parting with upside for backend starters.
  21. The case against O'Hearn is that he's maybe around a 0.5 - 1 win upgrade to the current roster and not worth using up what little money is available. Very well might not be realistic financially. But he does have positives. Last season he was actually a little above average in running speed, so he does have some athleticism. Being able to focus on only 1B would undoubtedly be helpful as well. There's also an indirect upgrade by letting Clemens backup 2B and 3B against right handers.
  22. The Twins will have leftover money from the #3 pick to sign multiple HS players in the $2 million dollar range. Regardless of anything else it will be a hugely important draft for the organization.
  23. Not at all, in fact it's the exact opposite - crying over every tiny issue obscures real problems.
  24. I don't post much because there's too much negativity and uninformed discussion on here. I was fine with the deadline moves and don't think falvey or Rocco etc are incompetent. This news is really bad, just objectively disastrous. The Pohlads decided to have their cake and eat it too, and the only way to thread that needle is to run low payrolls. Ultimately this may just be the first step in giving up control once the labor situation is resolved and buyers have more confidence. But that still yields a bad situation in the short term.
  25. What else can the front office do except be confident in their work? Resign? Even if some people did you can't turn over the whole organization. I honestly don't understand the premise of the article. The reason the Twins traded relievers is because that's who was available to trade. Additionally, relievers are historically volatile in terms of health and performance. Under new ownership, the 2026 bullpen could be rebuilt, not to elite status but adequate. Without new ownership there's no hope anyway.
