  1. I think there is a high chance of either Berrios or Odorizzi giving up early runs, but I also trust them to bear down and put that behind them. If their stuff is good, I hope the manager doesn't give either of them the early hook. But you can't afford to be down 6-0 in the third inning either. The hook does have to be quicker than in the regular season. The good news, if any, is that an early shower could mean a second chance sooner in the same series.
  2. Like most offenses, ours is prone to periods of silence, and that's what I'm worried about in this series, that we make their competent pitchers look better than just that.
  3. LENIII gets more than his share of grief from readers, but I hope folks remember this article the next time they want to sound off. Well done.
  4. With other threads already active on the subject, I am locking this one so as to not encourage redundant discussion.
  5. Maybe not on the cellphone/mobile version, but in the full version there should be a little bitty light-blue dot next to the choice you voted for. Anti-whozit-lolwhut? ... I mean, yes, that's totally what I was doing.
  6. Moderator's Note: Several of the moderators qualify under the Boomer label, hint hint, but in any case I'd like to remind everyone that the terms we use to describe one another should be respectful, per the site's Comment Policy.
  7. The last position player on someone's roster, which I assume Austin to be, won't be an all-star of course. But if you look past his low batting average, half of his base hits have been for extra bases, and he's shown a willingness/ability to induce a walk. In the right situation, presumably against a lefty, either of those two profiles might be their best chance.
  8. I suppose some kind of fancy artificial intelligence robot could curate the discussion threads of most interest to you. As it is, the default is to show you the threads with the most recent comments, but there is a black bar near the top of each forum that lets you sort by other criteria ("Start Date", "Most Replies", "Most Viewed," or even "Custom") if that fits your needs better than "Recently Updated."
  9. Unless a franchise situation is known to be toxic, anyone will accept an offer if one is received. There are only 30 jobs. If it goes badly for reasons outside your control, some other team will take you. That's where "retreads" come from. And I think the conventional wisdom is that it's a feather in any organization's cap, to have their assistants promoted to other organizations. More assistants can always be found.
  10. Also, at most 2.
  11. Mrs Ashbury is a couple years your junior, and her dad used to take her to Opening Day at Wrigley, taking her out of school to do so of course. She was raised right.
  12. It might not be fissile, but is it harmful (to anything/anyone) if scattered in a launch accident?
  13. If you aren't available for the Yankees series as a result, we'll miss you.
  14. If it's safe enough to not worry about a failed launch scattering the materials, does it need to be launched into the sun? (That's an honest question. I don't know.)
  15. Seems like a failed launch could be pretty gnarly, though.
  16. Well, their magic number did get reduced to 9 today, but they lost to Washington so did not reduce to 8. Even if the Twins lose 2 games in the division series, 3 games in the league championship series, and 3 games in the World Series, that only adds to 8, so I think the Twins lead is safe. *Whew*
  17. Cleveland's magic number remains at 10. With only 2 games remaining for both teams combined, I don't think they can do it.
  18. Flavorless, even in aerosol form.
  19. Best day as a Twins fan in a long, long time!
  20. What, you want Sano batting ninth so Arraez can drive him in with homers?
  21. For Cleveland, I mean. The Cleveland announcers were focusing on the Wild Card, but You Know Who has something to say about that: "Wild Card? Don't talk about—Wild Card?! You kidding me? Wild Card?! I just hope we can win a game! Another game!"
