  1. In case you didn't already ask teh google for guidance, it refers mainly to comics who go the potty-mouth route, but by extension anybody (such as myself) who can't resist making tittylating remarks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ribaldry#Blue_comedy
  2. Some guys just gotta work blue. Maybe you can lobby the Twins to bring pitching coach Dick Pole out of retirement.
  3. #5 seems a bit vague to me.
  4. The main thing I worry about with Nolasco is that he has operated under the benefit of home parks catering to pitching, and still hasn't excelled. Target Field may also be favorable to him, but I don't see reason to think he'll suddenly be above average. And a four-year contract, which looks likely if you're going to snare him, adds to the risk.
  5. Could go either way on that. Meh.
  6. Germans? Forget it, he's rolling. / from the hit movie, Animal Castle
  7. Yeah, me too. I'm with ya, Brian, unless something else comes up. Mehhhh.
  8. It was just a reference to Terry Ryan's quote about Correia, given your linking the two players.
  9. Let's see, if the posting fee for Tanaka ends up being $75M, and the Twins sign a bunch of free agents to get their budget up to $115M, they could wind up paying a luxury tax. Hey, a guy can dream, right?
  10. He's better than his numbers?
  11. A lot of lurkers/firsttimers hold off because they don't want feedback, but I'll take you at your word. Instead of getting rid of Willingham, would you consider him for DH for 2014? I'm not sure all the ourfield pieces you listed in your lineup will be ready and fully productive before the Hammer's contract runs out. I doubt he has much trade value at this time, but if you do want to trade him then maybe a good first half would allow for a useful trade at the deadline. That could coincide with Buxton getting called up.
  12. That's $15,000 that could have gone toward the posting fee for Tanaka.
  13. Like.
  14. That was the difference I thought I saw last week. Meyer had a great game, no question, but I felt as though hitters were getting themselves out on pitches out of the strike zone and maybe he wouldn't have the same success (at present) against the very best hitters. While Crick was getting swings and misses on pitches at or near the strike zone. Of course, a more talented scout than I might say that the very best hitters wouldn't swing through Crick's pitches.
  15. Nothing on Revere on MLBTR at this writing. Maybe their sleuths will see this thread and start something.
  16. I'll go along with gunnarthor, such a trade doesn't seem like it scratches either team's itch. I suppose StL says no first, as they are in win-now mode and both their players are more developed, but the Twins probably say no just about as quickly, as losing Buxton is not part of their plan to improve pitching. Here's one backatcha: Meyer to the Giants for Kyle Crick. I had the pleasure of watching both in their AFL game last week, and my son and I agreed we'd trade Meyer straight up for Crick, but that being said I suppose the Giants would ask for more.
  17. If this means you've got him in your Celebrity Death Pool, I have bad news for you: he didn't die, he's just moving to Allentown. / wait, what, there's a difference?
  18. Probably when the agent told them a four-year offer already was on the table, the Twins said no thanks and moved on.
  19. Now I'm taking the context out of your quote.
  20. The people have spoken. I'd like to apologize for my role in the healthcare.gov website, while I am at it.
  21. So then, if it was tongue in cheek, you're going to have to dumb it down for me about 200 IQ points, to help me understand what your point actually was.
  22. Not until his first playoff in 2006, the infamous one the Twins lost to the As. First game, he went 0-3 - he came up with a man on base all four times up, he did execute a sacrifice bunt, otherwise in a game lost 3-2 he exemplified what's wrong with going small when you get past the regular season.
  23. He's no Hall of Famer, but in 2013 he finished 28th in the NL in ERA+. Back-of-the-envelope, that's about two pitchers per team like that. It was a typical season for him - 2012 was a bit better, 2011 was worse. It's not easy to be 100 ERA+ as a fulltime starter, year in and year out. If he's not "good", it's going to be extremely difficult to acquire someone who is.
  24. I for one welcome your new Captcha overlords.
