    Unfortunately Jimmy and St. Peter make this decision, and they'll go to Falvine with a **** eating grin on their faces to ask them what they should do, "because we aren't baseball people and we know it".

    Oakland has become a terrible market, but no one is talking about what makes Las Vegas a good market? It doesn't seem like there is any reason to think there will be a baseball culture there, and baseball doesn't feel like a travel destination the way football is.

    Defend the train wreck all you want, but I believe part of the process of hiring Falvine was "flipping through the media guide".

    Look at how the Vikings have changed their culture from the top. It has consistently been about building a winning organization from ownership down with the Vikings. With the Twins there is always a sense that the "baseball people" (read - not the owners because we pay someone to do that) should be financially responsible with offers. It's well documented that business comes before baseball in this organization, and the Pohlads have really never claimed otherwise. To think what Jim Pohlad says about a baseball move is giving him too much credit for baseball decisions he has farmed out.

    It has nothing to do with this season, and everything to do with taking every opportunity he and St. Peter get to say "we are not the baseball people."

    To think Jim Pohlad has any working knowledge of how things work with player negotiations is beyond generous.

    Great rule change on upping the number of batters to 3. That in fact will certainly improve pace of play more than anything that's been done so far. I'd guess ultimately the September roster change will settle on 30, since that's about where many teams landed anyway.

    Being at this game, this fan base is pathetic. They cheer cheer cheer every terrible bullpen pitcher when they announce his name, and they stand with blank looks in the urinal line during the game rather than being pissed off at how terrible this team played. Then after the game the resounding opinion is "well shoot it was a fun season and they weren't supposed to be this good." Not only does this team not know how to win, this fan base doesn't know how to expect winning.

    Perhaps everyone could have used just a little more nap time, or a little less nap time.

    I suppose it is off the topic, but if both players have real market value when the time comes and this ownership or FO determines they can't afford to keep both of them, they are going to miss on an opportunity to prove they are stepping up to the plate when it really matters.

    Giving up a five run lead against a terrible team, thrashing the bullpen, and going from a good pace to a drag? Hardly. This team just isn't good enough to win in the playoffs right now.

    At this point this FO personnel is only interesting after everyone in Houston has already told you no. Win a playoff series and then maybe they gain some value. At this point they've done nothing but talk about winning when you look at real results a big name is going to look for.

    This Twins team will be swept in the first round of the playoffs, assuming they can win the play-in game.

    Based on this series, this isn't a team that's ready to contend in the post season. At least not right now. As far as treating them like throwaways, I was glad to see Rocco leave the starters in to use up some innings rather than shred the bullpen.
