    MLB.TV has definitely changed some of their infrastructure across the board. The Twins broadcast access was pretty stable yesterday but I had several cases where my MLB TV subscription just didn't work. Also worth noting they took a page out of the Sonos playbook and added about three taps to get to watching the game, replacing what used to happen in one tap. Over engineering by non-users at its worst.

    I'm a tech savvy 40something, and am still slightly confused if I go to the MLB app to watch my Twins TV subscription. So far everything I've seen has been posted as "Free Game of the Day" so I'm still not confident I'm doing it right. That said, I must be, because I think in the olden days those games were blacked out, but also not sure if that was the case during Spring Training or just the regular season. My point being this is definitely confusing, and certainly will be for the non tech savvy.

    Seeing how the new system played out on Sunday was interesting. It made me wonder, though, why they need to spend even the 10-15 seconds they are spending now to wind up the graphics on the screens when the data surely is there within 1 second. Also there was reporting recently that the NHL is using smart watches for vibration sensors to the referees. It seems only a matter of time before they do just that with MLB umpires. It would all look the same, but the umpire would know before he could even have time to react that he is calling a strike correctly. I was unsure about the change, but I think it's time.

    Not trying to be a pain in the ass...just saying every guess made me want to look back at the photo, and the longer the thread goes, the harder that gets to do. Take it as a comment to do what anyone wants with. I guess if you want an answer to your question, it would be no, because someone that drops in later can play the game until the actual photo is revealed if you hold it until the end.

    Since you asked for suggestions in the first thread, I'd like to see the pic more often after other guesses come in without having to scroll back up. Not sure if this is consensus, but If people would quote the OP when submitting their guess, or if you could bump the OP pic throughout the thread that would be awesome.

    The prior question was if Youtube TV adds a tier to include sports, or finds a way to broadcast it (like they once did with BSN)...though that doesn't seem likely the way they're marketing this so far.

    It makes me wonder what he's been told when he says "The new direction Twins/MLB broadcasts are taking." Hard to think he was doing it for the money but maybe that's what it took to justify the time away from home.

    Because an org would hypothetically send multiple high value prospects for a guy that is big show ready for half a season when they are one piece away. This isn't that difficult.

    Dumb question maybe, but wouldn't a major league baseball team have a standard regimen for learning a position? i.e. some crazy number like 10,000 ground balls to each side of the glove, 1,000 double play reps, something like that?

    As I understand it, attendance for the year is pretty well baked when Season Tickets are set. I have yet to receive my final 2025 ticket invoice, which indicates they are working to finalize things before doing so, even though they normally would have by now. They collected post season ticket money for 2024, so they have cash, just unsettled numbers. Thinking about much of anything else at this point is a fool's errand IMO cause this ownership group is just tying bows with the goal of getting a clean sale and moving on. Consider 2025 a see what we have for a new era year starting in 2026 if you're being realistic.

    This is where I thought Gleeman did a good job of putting words to this. At some point it goes beyond business and becomes a piece of the local culture that these owners are stewards of.

    You're right. Saying Comcast was a misstatement on my part. You are also right that this year spending doesn't equate to this year, but they are selling future revenue as well as current revenue. That's how you assign a value to a business.

    Attendance lags in baseball, so it should have been higher in 2024 following a legit playoff run in 2023. You missed them agreeing to extend with Comcast and letting the fans get blacked out? Sigh

    This is oversimplifying. Many of us would argue that an increase in spending in 2023 and 2024 would have led to higher fan engagement, and built goodwill with the fan base, which then grows or at least maintains the fan base. Additionally, aggressively locking down a television contract would have had similar results. Both result in a higher valuation of the business. They made decisions not to do either.

    I heard the same thing. It's hard to know who has really been making what decisions. I'm not convinced St. Peter understands the business anymore, either, and I have to think he has at least been a voice in the room when Joe doesn't know what to do.
