  1. I really like his attitude & Arraez-type hitting mentality. His quote "The power this season came from gaining weight, but also changing my swing path from steep to more of a flat swing path.", I think the power came strictly from hitting the weight room because normally hitters try to increase their launch angle not decrease it, to hit HRs. But love the fact he can be a contact hitter that can hit HRs. IMO DeBarge has the better chance to stick at SS.
  2. There you go. We don't need another 4-5 starter & give up a bunch of prospect capital to pay for a bunch of years we don't need(?). We need to unload a bunch of expiring veteran contracts, which we can easily replace with younger players. There's a big demand for 1Bmen, many teams are holding unto their 1Bmen. ex. Vladdy (TOR), Alonzo (NYM) & Goldsmidt (STL), We can come out on top by trading Santana while increasing our WAR with a combination of Miranda, Julien & Kiriloff. IMO, the Twins should be looking at a top-tier SP rental, we can afford their salary if we dump some expiring contracts & negotiate to have the trade partner to pay part. 1st choice Eovaldi (TX) he's been there before, a postseason bulldog. 2nd choice Montas (CIN), he has followed the same path as our Gray- OAK ace- NYY stumble- CIN recover- MN CY runner-up. Montas has a lot of upside that MN can unlock that I believe it is a good chance, if he's not all that we hoped for, he should still be a very good SP as a cheap insurance rental.
  3. I really like his athleticism, attitude & tools to be a good catcher. If he can stay healthy & the Twins can develop him he can be of good value. Hope everything works out for him.
  4. Now I remember. I saw him in BTV & I thought it strange that he has good trade value & but I can't remember him. I'm sure he was drafted in the foreign draft but still
  5. Dameury Pena, I saw his name lately, I couldn't remember how we got him or if he's someone we should note. Could someone help me out?
  6. WOW! I was hoping for Teel in the draft, any chance to get him now is only a pipe dream. Boston is hurting at catcher too, they have to be very desperate to let him go.
  7. According to Fangraph team ranking at each position by WAR, RP isn't one of BOS's strengths it's one of their weakness with only NYY & BAL with less WAR of all the true contenders. So I doubt that BOS would want to trade from there, But here again it's an opportunity to nab Teal.
  8. 1B isn't the place you want to put your elite athletes, it's a place where you want to hide your lesser athletes that can hit. Kiriloff can hit when healthy & 1B/ DH are the best place for him to stay healthy & he can hone that skill once given enough time for him.
  9. Years of being used in the OF because that was an area of need, having wrist problems then shoulder problems that sure doesn't help.
  10. Julien will come back as a better hitter than he was before with fewer SOs, which is a big plus that IMO the league will also see & value. Since the Twins are bound & determined to keep Julien at 2B, with Lee, Lewis, Martin, Castro & Farmer at that position then he's expendable. Julien for Bernardino isn't even close but if you include Kyle Teal then that's something I can get excited about & get behind. Julien for Teal is fair then with Bernardino that'll make Boston side top-heavy & we need to find another player(s) that fits Boston's need & balance the wager. Carmargo could be one.
  11. Thank you, Chief. Like I said I didn't watch the game, I based my opinion on "highlights". I was wrong on this play & you were right.
  12. Thank you, coming from you it's a compliment. But for others who are reading this. Let me give you an example for a reference point to help you to put it into perspective: When Lewis needs a physical break from 3B & to keep his bat in the lineup, do they put him in the OF? I hope your answer is no. they'd put him at DH or if he can play 1B & Santana isn't there, they'd play him at 1B, for any amount of time. Why? Because OF is a much more physically demanding position than 1B/ DH. During the offseason before Kiriloff even started his initial conditioning in Jan. Twins stated that (due to 2 consectitive years of wrist surgeries & last year shoulder surgery) they'd restrict him to only 1B/ DH duties. Why? because 1B/ DH duties are much less demanding on his body (that spent 3 yrs, of surgeries, recovery & lack of muscle strength the follows surgery & lack of playing time) than OF. To begin the season Kiriloff's bat was hot & they needed him to more often than the shared time at DH. Their Santana was at 1B so they were willing to sacrifice Kiriloff in the OF. Could he eventually suffer from soft-tissue injury just playing 1B/ DH? maybe but if they committed to Kiriloff 1B/ DH from the beginning, his injury would be greatly delayed, less serious & he wouldn't have to feel the need to play hurt to keep his job & aggravating the problem. Meaning less down time & less negative hype. I don't call observing, rationalize & come to a conclusion that doesn't fit in the social media box as weird. I call it common sense. Majority of social media purpose is to endocrinate people with whatever means to their agenda, mine here at TD is try to get people to think & come to their own conclusion. You don't see me follow people that don't agree with me, so I can smash the dislike button & try to discredit them anyway I can. I leave them to their own opinions. But if they comment on my statement, I will respond if there is any sanity to it.
  13. Last season Correa's hitting was sub-par & was fielding well below par according to his standard & he's had tremendous hours on the field to hone his skill. Are you also disappointed that they brought him back? Playing hurt makes a big impact on your performance, those stats should be thrown out when evaluating a player. Kiriloff is a great hitter when healthy, who needs to be placed and kept at 1B to stay healthy & finally hone his skills there. Kiriloff isn't a great defender overall but he can become a pretty good 1Bman or at least average. We aren't asking him to catch or play SS. I am open for you to prove me wrong. But like you said we are free to disagree & please forgive me if I came across as rude that wasn't my intent. My intent was only to debate.
  14. I'm curious, what true statement aren't you buying? If you look at the overall stats & not look at the conditions. You miss the real picture. #1 Kiriloff started the season leading the team in hitting #2 they were afraid of his health yet they put him in a more demanding position. #3 he got hurt in correlation to when his slump started. #4 The problem wasn't that he was bad, it was due to him being hurt #5 So he wasn't sent to AAA but was put on the IL.
  15. Miranda defense doesn't stink. It may not be great but at 1B it doesn't have to be, it's not catching. Miranda's defense at 3B is now solid & he has the potential to be better at 1B if given the chance.
  16. #6 Solution put him at 1B/ DH & keep him there & keep him healthy.
  17. I like your article Cody, in how you also added optimism along with your disappointments. But in your statement about Kiriloff. "Offensively, he struggled to find the swing that had made him one of the organization’s top prospects." To start the season Kiriloff was our top hitter until he got hurt, which correlates to when he started his slump. So he had found his swing, the problem was that he was put in a situation to get hurt & never said anything (which IMO understandable). So the solution isn't him getting his swing back it's keeping him healthy after the ordeal he has been put through. Put him at 1B/DH & keep him there as originally planned. I don't get the pessimism.
  18. Whether 1B production across the league is down or not doesn't concern me. I still hold Santana to the standard & his production doesn't come close to Miranda's or Kiriloff's before he got hurt. The fact that 1B production is down across the league only aids us because 1Bmen are in demand so contenders & wannabes are looking for them. I'd be a good opportunity to trade Santana & come out ahead.
  19. Bingo! This year, what have we gained? Margot? We had plenty of depth before we signed him & Keirsey is still sitting in AAA long overdue for his call-up. Margot isn't quality depth. CF backup, we have Castro, Martin & Keirsey all much better than Margo. Santana? 1B is a production primary/ defense optional position; up the middle defense is primary/ production is the cherry on top. Santana, overall production falls short of what a 1Bman should be & is expected to regress. Miranda has much better production with Julien, Kiriloff & MLB-ready Severino as back up. With all the acquisitions mentioned we gained nothing as far as needed depth or added production over their in-house options. What have we lost? 1st the money that was spent for not going with in-house young players. Money could be spent on a player we really need. 2nd playing time for Miranda, Martin, Kiriloff, Keirsey & Severino to get their feel for playing in the MLB & master their positions. 3rd Lost production from Kiriloff. During the offseason, it was said that they were going to limit his duties to only 1B/ DH to keep him healthy. Due to Santana playing 1B, leaving Kiriloff to play a more physically demanding position, resulting him to hurt his back & put a halt to his prosperous start. Future, we lost the experience to build upon for the future success of our young players. Margot & Santana took from these guys & we lost our best future Correa replacement in GG Noah Miller, Again at a premium position SS, glove is primary, production is the cherry on top. So again grading these FO's offseason moves is failure. Because it did nothing to meet our real needs & made us weaker in other areas.
  20. I'm very happy that Castro got the well-deserved experience of being an All-Star. IMO they should have a super-utility selection in the ASG, much like they have in Silver Slugger & GG. IMO Castro would unbiasedly win but AS selection is 100% biased. I credit Castro as being the anchor after all the holes that had to be filled due to many injuries at one time. He filled them admirably & kept us from going too far adrift, making it much more difficult to get back on course.
  21. These guys were surprises because they were given the chance & I'd put All-Star Castro on that list. IMO there are more surprises out there if given sufficient opportunities.
  22. I just had plantar fasciitis. I think in most cases it's improper footwear (proper depends on the person). I love to walk & resisted giving it up but when I decided to give it a rest for a couple of days & added the proper footwear it cleared up. I'm not an expert & IDK what is proper footwear for Correa is & I'm sure what Correa's heels go through is much more intense beating than what I've experienced but I'm of the opinion that it's very treatable especially caught early.
  23. I don't put much stock in launch angle & exit velo as any indication of luck. What they attribute as luck is the ability to spray the ball around the field & one who hit the ball hard & the inability to do so is unlucky. Many also attribute luck with winning one-run games. Winning one-run games is due to having hitters who can hit in the clutch (which is an ability) & not strike out. What I contribute to CLE success isn't luck but the ability to stick with their youth & not getting sucked into the "all or nothing" mentality, even though they've had rotten luck with injuries to their rotation. All that said, I still believe that MN has a good chance to pass up CLE. #1 IMO we have better players #2 we ditched the "all or nothing" approach, We put Larnach, Wallner & Julien in AAA to reset. Larnach started last year so he's the 1st back doing well, now Wallner & soon Julien. Hopefully, they don't regress to old habits. It also depends on the development of our young players, Unlike CLE, injuries to MN were a good thing because it opened up more opportunities & playing time to Castro, Miranda, SWR & Lee to shine, Yet Martin, Kiriloff, Keirsey & Varland need more consistent playing time in the MLB. We have been very fortunate not having any injuries connected to our catching duo or the top of our rotation which would be disastrous. Our good fortune needs to continue there. & I see our rotation will only improve. All of our injuries to our core players have been minor & should be in good shape very soon. What could also influence the race is the trade deadline. If CLE picks up a decent SP & we do nothing, CLE might hold on. If MN fills their need at SP & LHRP then we can go a long way.
  24. I think it's strange that they finally selected a catcher Diaw but looks like he's so banged up he'll never last at catcher very long if ever
  25. Thanks, Campos sounds good, IMO LHH is a premium. My main concern is if he has an arm.
