    I've been concerned. Kiriloff's hitting approach has been pretty sound so IMO his adjustments should be slight & quick. This slump is taking longer than I'd like. So I'd look at other reasons. I don't think it'd be anything serious.

    Drafting high on pitchers are very risky, IMO it's much more secure letting others start to develop them then filter out those who can succeed & we can tweak. IMO SWR is not truly part of the pipeline. We have seen limited success in the pipeline but have shown very good ability to tweak those who we bring in. I've had faith in SWR not only in his stuff but his drive to constantly adapt & improve. SWR has looked very good so far in the MLB but there'll come a time when the hitters will get to know him. Here I have faith that he'll eventually adjust & continually to do so to become a good SP.

    Keirsey has been impacting AAA on offense & defense. He is at the stage of getting his feet wet on the MLB level. I've said from the beginning I was against the new acquisitions that blocked our guys. Keirsey should have been up by now. It was fun to watch the Wind Surge game, the finale was pretty exciting. Emma's bat has been quiet, what's up? It looks like Soto might take a little longer to develop at this point. Hope Eels's career will be pleasantly shocking. An added note: I'm glad that MLB is giving importance to mental health. Living isn't getting any easier & even in baseball there's a lot of stress & need for mental toughness. Awareness is the 1st step.

    Twins tend to use up their high-leverage RPs all in one shot leaving none every other game. Although they preached a good sense approach of extending RPs they have been lax returning to limit RPs to 1 inning & extending Alcala when they shouldn't. Ober pitched a good game deserving a win the day before but relying on Jackson & Okert in a higher leverage situation was foolhardy. Here today we are left in the same situation having no high-leverage arms available, in what should prove as a close game. I am here again to advocate the need for long relief. Especially w/o Steward, we need to extend Sands a little more & bring up Varland in that role & spot start if need be. Limiting 1 or at most 2 high-leverage RPs leaves us in a better situation to win a lot more games. If there is a concern of excess non-options RPs, trade them, there is some demand.

    Agreed Cosetti has a great bat but I prioritize defense more & what I wanted to see for myself was how well Cardenas caught behind the plate.

    I don't understand that we had plenty of in-house options that we went for a player that LAD wanted to dump for our MiLB best fielding SS? A great player evaluator like LAD that wanted to dump Margot & could see the potential in Noah Miller, would send a lot of red flags for me & put a lot of doubt in the Twins' player evaluation.

    They have taken the sausage out of the garbage & trying for new life! But I reiterate that they can ride this sausage as long as they want as long as they don't lose sight what actually brought them success. The sausage without the hitting approach change would be just a piece of dead meat.

    Keirsey is pretty impressive & deserves a call-up to see what he can do on the MLB level. Great to see the hitting floodgates opened last nite, looks like E Rod took a breather. Are they changing their hitting approach throughout the organization? Hope Soto has a good day pitching today.

    I've caught some, that play is extremely difficult, although to some it looks easy. I marvel that catchers do make that play as often as they do.

    Great article, Cody. Super-utility is a very valuable asset for any team. Many use the term, super-utility very loosely but Castro is a legit one, But what really sets Castro apart is his hitting. I've been a big fan of Castro since spring training '23. Twins pay no attention to spring training performances, if it weren't for early injuries, Castro would been stuck at AAA & later option out of the Twins. But fortunate for those injuries, the Twins were forced to keep him on. Castro is for real & should have significant playing time in the utility role.

    Ober pitched a good game. Looks like the hitting problem is solved, basically. The outcome & the BP wasn't what the doctor ordered. I was also thinking even before the Jeffers's misplay, that in a game like this it'd be a good idea to put Vazquez in at catcher & leave Jeffers in at DH as a defensive move.

    I wouldn't trust Jackson or Okert much either other than low leverage. They sent Alcala down because they were concerned about his usage, just coming off a long injury time off. But they still used him plenty in AAA. I have faith in Alcala but I'd ease him in the super high-leverage situations & limit him to 1 inning which they obviously didn't do. They used all their high-leverage RPs the night before, I'd save at least one for tonight. Here I'll advocate our need for long relief again. Long relief helps us from over using our short relief RPs especially high leverage.

    Arraez is a generational contact hitter a great all-around great guy. He is well-loved wherever he goes. Although many argued that he was a super utility guy, he wasn't. It was hard to find a place for him to play, but his bat found a place in the line-up. IMO Lopez/ Arraez trade was a no-brainer that helped both teams. I believe FO didn't want to trade him but not being able to extend him much like MIA was the last nail. If there was a winner it was us. MIA did a 160 degree from wanting an MLB-ready SS & catcher to be a contender to a rebuild. Since they didn't get those players they wanted they didn't even try to be a contender which gave them the excuse to blow things up. Most everybody will be on the block.
