  1. I have never made an issue about hitting the ball in the air or not in my arguments, especially on the text I quoted on that you quoted me. So I don't want to start to debate you on this. It's the "all or nothing" approach that produces much more SOs in clutch situations than HRs especially when the league has zoned in on this. I have never made this a secret. Baldelli stated that they needed to change their approach at the plate to be more responsible in addressing their SO & hitting problem just before we had this winning streak. If you want to believe that the Twins were just unlucky prior, just go right ahead.
  2. Miller is 21 (still young) less than a year older & also a level higher. Miller's glove is near MLB ready right now so he'll find some where to play MLB SS (unfortunately not MN). Where & how well he'll be recognized will depend on how well LAD can develop his hitting. Miller has a lot of OBP potential but being developed according to his natural swing he's shown surprising power.
  3. Doncon AB R H HR RBI SB AVG OBP OPS 2024 MiLB Stats 120 17 35 4 17 3 .292 .367 .842 Miller AB R H HR RBI SB AVG OBP OPS 2024 MiLB Stats 131 25 35 5 20 0 .267 .362 .797 Miller is finally getting the hitting coaching that's beneficial to his development. WOW 5 HRs already, hit a walk off in 1 of his 1st games, basically he's just starting. As his hitting improves he'll continue to rise on the LAD coveted prospect list It's very difficult to find Miller's caliber of glove (Miller was my candidate for SS after Correa moves off), IMO Doncon shouldn't stick at SS for the Twins. The rest of the INF is jam-packed with players much better him. At catcher, SS, & CF glove trumps bat. I have much more faith in LAD's players evaluation & development than ours who's by far greatest priority is HRs & forget defense.
  4. IMO the best way isn't comparing this year to last year because the pitching adjusted better to the Twins this season and hitters like Lewis greatly improved our #s in the 2nd half of last season. To get a more accurate idea we need to compare the beginning of the season which the league adjusted to the point they changed their approach until now. Our #s really sucked in the beginning of this year (old approach) which really affected our total for this season. I highly doubt that 2nd part of this season #s (approach change) are poorer than the 1st (the old). It's easy to get deceived.
  5. Focusing on HRs & striking out in clutch situations don't win close games. (if so we'd have had the best record in the AL last season). Hitting in clutch situations does. Our poor start this season is from adhering to the "all or nothing" approach & the league easily adjusted to it. It was surprising how fast the team turned around after abandoning that approach. If they serve you up a nice juicy meatball you take it, When they don't, which is most of the time in those situations, you take whatever they give you w/o striking out regularly. The new approach is very sustainable as long as they stick to it. Now that the league have discovered that a steady diet of off-speed stuff isn't working they'll go back to serve up more fastballs.
  6. I believe he is but for him to stay he'll have to figure MLB pitching. That might take a while.
  7. It's time to throw that sausage in the garbage.
  8. Crap Ober's 1st hit given up. 4 innings, 6 SOs 0 BB. Good game Ober
  9. Ober needs to have his ball start outside & sneak in the zone.
  10. TOR isn't chasing Ober at all. A lot of pitches.
  11. W/o Margot Keirsey should have been up already. IMO Keirsey's performance won't translate in the MLB but it's all a process. Martin's stats lately have been baffling but Martin is MLBer & he'll come through. He just needs time. LH CFer who can hit is a premium, Keirsey will prove to be valuable. I should have been more specific Keirsey stuff will translate in the MLB but what I wanted to say was that it won't be automatic, it's a process. If you take everything into context what I said about Keirsey you'd know I'm high on Keirsey, Martin's internal makeup is much like Lewis's so he'll learn more at the MLB level. Don't be so quick to be so critical just because you are so quick to judge.
  12. W/o Margot Keirsey should have been up already. IMO Keirsey's performance won't translate right away in the MLB but it's all a process. Martin's stats lately have been baffling but Martin is MLBer & he'll come through. He just needs time. LH CFer who can hit is a premium, Keirsey will prove to be valuable.
  13. When the ump gave a gift to TOR in the 5th I felt the danger of the floodgates for TOR being opened & our bats going dry. IMO the door should have been slammed shut right away in the 5th. before things got out of hand. IMO SWR pitched a good game until then & we have a very good pen. Some of our new acquisitions are undependable & should be treated as such. IMO they are not needed & could be traded. Here again I'll advocate for Varland in long relief & have Alcala more available in short relief & have him worked into high leverage slowly.
  14. IMO it's time to put that sausage in the garbage. Yesterday's game stunk. Although the sausage served a purpose I believe that time has passed. From the beginning, Baldelli was not crazy about the sausage. I believe they were others that were negatively impressed by the sausage. Great hitters like Kiriloff & Martin have had poor performances during this rally sausage period & there have been others. IMO the sausage is stinking up the dugout metaphorically if not actually. Throw the sausage in the garbage not at each other. This thread is to put into perspective the real reason for the winning streak. It's a balanced hitting approach that doesn't strike-out in clutch situations. Not the sausage that can distract from that.
  15. Good one. Correa was an instant reaction to that ordeal much like Kepler was JD's reaction. I knew Correa wasn't on the field. The absence of Buxton, Kepler & Correa proves the lack of veteran leadership to intervene in that situation. That is the point, veteran leadership on the field is very valuable. The absence thereof is really the cause of that misplay not Martin or Julien.
  16. IMO the game went sideways when the ump stole 2 strikes from SWR that should have been a SO but that ordeal force SWR to serve up a hittable pitch that started everything. that forced SWR out. TOR pitcher got a gift strike that was clearly a ball. If we had an electronic strike zone the game would have been different.
  17. They are getting his pitch count up there.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkkGc_4y3hU Good to see Arraez do well.
  19. Another reason for electronic strike zone is now catcher are catchers are catching closer to the plate to get more strikes. Because of this Conteras broke his arm. If we have an electronic strike zone that won't happen & will prevent future injuries
