  1. Looks like the Paddack haven't settled in yet. He better bear down.
  2. I've been close to quitting the Twins for different reasons but being able to vent your feelings on TD helps & encouragement from friends here has kept me from doing so. I'd hate to lose you as a TD brother & hope you venting has helped you from not losing interest in the Twins. Because you'd be missed.
  3. I am a firm believer that Miranda should have had the 1B job together with Kiriloff & Julien and have him playing there throughout spring training to firm up our 1B position, I'm a firm believer in all our players & was against almost all the new acquisitions that took up playing time & even roster spots of our in-house players. Miranda could be our full-time platoon 1B but because of Santana he'll also need to play some DH & 3B to fill out his ABs
  4. I would argue the semantics also but the truth is Farmer's hitting has been terrible. For a steady Farmer's hitting to change so much there has to be a deep mechanical flaw that he picked up, emotional tragedy or injury. Whatever it is the appreciative Farmer isn't talking but you know he's working on it. Unfortunately, we've had to use Farmer much more & in less than effective situations than we'd like. Yet we were fortunate to even have him to fill in in such a difficult situation of injuries. Farmer is a great guy to have around & IMO Farmer will work it out. But the handwriting is on the wall even when he works it out. With the flexibility of Castro & Martin & the addition of Lee, Farmer will become redundant. But with the hestitancy of FO to DFA veterans & the possibility of Julien being optioned to AAA to reset at least for the time being IMO Farmer is safe. Maybe when he finds himself a trade could open up. As I hope for Margot & Santana.
  5. There are a lot of fans, especially older casual ones, who can't watch the Twins on cable and will lose interest in the Twins. Brian you are not a casual fan & if you are losing interest just think of maybe tens of thousands older casual fans will stop following the Twins all together. We knew this even before they signed a contract with Bally the outcome would not be good but this has turned into the worst-case scenario.
  6. I don't either. I don't really understand them how they work because. Not only with underrated but also overrated players' defensive stats. IMO it's when one overcompensated for another.
  7. Absolutely agree, KC has Ober's number. Is Ober tipping? & Lupo has the Twins number, Not a very good combination. You don't get the full impact or value from defensive stats & that should be considered when evaluating a player. Correa does so much more defensively than the casual fan can appreciate.
  8. The most lauded catching FAs we basically had the very expensive Contreras, Vazquez & Narvaez who had a pretty good season with MIL. STL hated Contreras & wanted to kick him off catcher. Narvaez didn't really pan out & Vazquez had a problem hitting.
  9. To tell you the truth I was more in favor of signing a cheaper (LH hitting) Omar Narvaez, they probably thought Vazquez was a better defender & someone that CC could better work with. But no matter, Vazquez is the one that the Twins chose to sign for $30mm, so we are stuck with him. If we choose to DFA him next year it'll be expensive to replace him besides picking up his bill.
  10. Absolutely agree with you that Vazquez brings intangibles & leadership. Buck brings leadership to the OF, CC brings leadership to the INF & we need leadership at catching. Maybe Vazquez isn't taking Jeffers under his arm to mentor him. But Jeffers is watching how he handles pitchers, & how he commands the position. After Correa's relay to home & Vazquez made a lunging tag. Jeffers mirrored that same play. Back when we had Tanner Swanson as the catching coach you always hear from the players Tanner helped me with this or helped me with that & you see the development in the catchers. With Conger you hear nothing, which makes that much more important the need for mentorship as well as leadership. After the total disaster at catcher in '22 in all aspects of catching, Vazquez's presence totally transformed the position. Vazquez took all the burden off Jeffers' back & gave him room to thrive on both sides of the plate. I hate to think what would happen if Vazquez got hurt or he's DFAed next year or even when his contract is up because we'll be losing our defensive safety net & like '22 Jeffers could crash & burn again. We lack quality catching depth & poor future catching pool especially defensively.
  11. Very true, it was perfect collaboration of all 3 to get the speedy runner. Who would have stolen 2B & kept the rally going w/o that great play
  12. Twins loved Cave's bat but what the Twins needed was a glove to sub Buxton. The Twins made up their mind that Cave was going to be their CF backup. Wade was a better CFer but was never really given the chance yet he didn't stick in the OF after leaving MN. We suffered many years with Cave's many innings backing up the injured Buxton. We lost Gil & Wade's OBP & better fielding. Here again is an example of Twins blinded by a bat & losing out because of it.
  13. Twins wasted money on Santana at 1B while we have healthy, economical & need more playing time there AK, Miranda & Julien where he's destined to be. Vlady has the power potential but is he worth the risk of him coming here? I don't think so.
  14. You look at SWR & his stats & you can be unimpressed but he keeps on winning with grit. His sweeper & 4seam FB were impressive last night. Lot of people like to rag on Vazquez & dislike giving him any credit but w/o him we probably wouldn't have won that game last night, Margot had a good night, 3 underdogs who had a pretty good game. Great job by the BP again, Alcala needs to be more involved in the Twins plans. A critical win, let's keep on winning!
  15. That play had been worked on since spring training between Correa & Vazquez. If Vazquez hadn't thrown the ball where he did the runner would have been safe. These defensive plays is the difference between a winning team & a losing team & they go unnoticed by many who can't appreciate the art of fine defense,
  16. Martin's OBP potential is very high, it's there on the MiLB level but not MLB. IMO MLB pitchers have the book out on us & HRs will be harder to come by so we'll have to start to play some small ball. Arraez fit very well into our plans in the past but IMO Martin will fit better in the future.
