Royce Lewis Returns: Trading the Hot Corner for DH
4twinsJA replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lewis did injure himself running to first base, not while playing the field. Keeping yourself warmed up and ready to run as a DH is not that easy, let alone being able to stay in the game mentally when you don't play the field. It takes work to transition to DH on a regular basis. Buxton struggled last year. With that said, Lewis is not that great at 3B, France has 1B locked up for the year, maybe start getting Lewis practicing at 1B to potentially make the move next year.- 64 replies

If I Owned The Minnesota Twins: A Wish List
4twinsJA replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Wishlist should include more equitable playing field for all MLB teams. How can low to mid market teams be consistently competitive when there are teams with payrolls 3 times or more larger. Add Cole and Soto to the Twins, Twins are probably still playing. The top 6 payrolls in MLB all made the playoffs. Look what happened to the Mets, now they have owner willing to spend some money, Mets are in NLCS. 3 out of 4 teams left are from top 6 payrolls , Cleveland did not have to beat top 6 payroll team to get to ALCS. Mets and Yankees are 1-2 in payroll, still playing. -
Feel bad for Kiersay, arguably the second best defensive CF in Twins system and has hit well enough this year at AAA. But, he is not on 40 man roster, To me, Keirsay would have been a better choice than Julien but stuck at AAA.

Twins are not a player or two away from winning World Series. Sellers market this year, price was too high for players that may have helped Twins. Twins have a good farm system, ranked #3 by Bleacher Report. Twins can't buy their way to playoffs, WS, have to develop their own talent. With that said, likely could have at least got solid LH reliever without mortgaging the future.

Looks to be 4 position spots opening on 26 man next year. Farmer and Margot are no doubters to be gone, Santana- may be pushing Twins luck to sign him for 39 year old season, and Kepler will be free agent, will be too expensive for Twins and have cheaper options. Most likely Julien gets one of those spots if not traded. Lewis if healthy gets one, Kirilloff?, Martin?

What went wrong for David Festa?
4twinsJA commented on Eric Blonigen's blog entry in Eric’s deep dive corner
Great exposure for Festa, hopefully takes information learned and makes necessary adjustments in AAA. Next chance, Festa will be more prepared, has MLB stuff but needs refinement. -
AA has some nice starting pitching at the moment- Morris, Matthews, Lewis, Nowlin, Adams, and Jones. Agree can't have too much pitching, not all these will be successful MLB pitchers.

I agree, any player in the Twins price range, probably not a clear upgrade over present players.

Love the headline, sure to elicit more comments about "pipeline" than 4 pitchers mentioned.

4 Triple-A Hitters Ready to Upgrade the Twins' Offense
4twinsJA replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Twins have a good AAA roster. Julien, Wallner, Kirilloff, Severino, Camargo all on 40 man so easier to promote. Helman and Kiersay have done well, may get a shot. Lee has most potential but needs time at AAA. Holland has done surprisingly well, Prato has taken a step back this year, Kemp looks like AAA depth and experience. Williams and Isola are long shots, Winkel may still develop as catcher but not ready at this time.- 37 replies

If Vasquez traded and Camargo called up, who is 3rd catcher-Williams, Isola, Winkel. None of them have shown they are MLB ready.

You have to trade something of value to get something of value. I would be in favor of a Gray like trade. Going to have to part with a potential good MLB player to get a top to mid rotation type pitcher.

Minor League Report (6/9): Zebby Does Zebby Things
4twinsJA replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Agree with Linus, good results at lower levels don't guarantee results at MLB level. But, better than pitcher struggling at A, AA. There is some hope. Shows how hard it is to make it to MLB level and be successful.- 19 replies

Minor League Report (6/9): Zebby Does Zebby Things
4twinsJA replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Good to see Severino heating up, had terrible start to year. Matthews to AAA this year? Probably won't be until later in year, but if keeps his performance up will be hard to keep at AA.- 19 replies

Three Silver Linings to Edouard Julien's Demotion
4twinsJA replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Each week/month that goes by, Twins owe veterans less and less if released. I would not think anything will happen until after the All-Star break, but after that could see some movement. I don't see anyone coming up from AAA until later in season unless there is an injury. I expect a month+ for Julien at AAA. -
Don't see Twins going all in with this team, not a player or 2 from winning WS. Agree with above posters, not much to get out of Colorado.

Looks like Boushley making a case to surpass Varland in starting pitching pecking order. I would have Festa, Boushley, then Varland.

Yes, Paddack would go to IL, but remain on 40 man roster so if Festa called up someone else would need to be taken off 40 man roster.
