  1. Trey Vavra...just because
  2. He definitely could have thrown an inning or two this month so far. Even if he doesn't pitch a lot, just to get a feel for the atmosphere at the major league level would help.
  3. This is my pet peeve too. I understand TV contracts and that whole mess but I hate the predetermined schedule. I am trying to remember what year it was but both teams won the LCS in 4 or 5 games and it was a week before the WS started. In baseball terms, that is too long of a break.
  4. I know this is a Weiters thread but as long as the topic is catching this might be relevant. MLB trade rumors just identified three needs for the Brewers. Item 2 is trade appealing contracts and they point out Lucroy. Item 3 is identify permanent corner infield solutions. Plouffe for Lucroy? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/09/three-needs-milwaukee-brewers.html
  5. All the statements here about him are so true. I have had MLB audio for the past few years and previously had MLB extra innings. He truly paints a picture with his words and it is a joy to listen to him work. You always know the situation and what is going on. The Dodger fans are truly blessed. Not only do they get Scully, they also have Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday. Those two are great as well. This reminds me of a story I heard (I think it was when they dedicated a statue of Joe Buck in St Louis). A man took his son up to the statue and was taking it all in. The son asked the dad who it was and if he knew him. The dad replied, I never met him but I knew him well. Every night he came on the radio and he told us all about the game going on. If you get a chance, I would recommend the audio package to anyone. There are some great broadcasters out there. Scully, Denny Mathews in KC, Jon Miller in SF, Pat Hughes for the Cubs (with Coomer as the color man). I haven't listened to any Cincy games this year but they used to have (not sure if they still do) Thom Brennamann who was great to listen to. Probably my favorite call of his isn't even a Dodger call, the Buckner play in '86. It doesn't get any better than that.
  6. Don't forget we will need a spot on the 40 and 25 man roster next year for the rule 5 guy we will pick up to help out the bullpen.
  7. Was Dereck Rodriguez drafted as an OF? I am impressed by his stats on the mound.
  8. My wife and I were at the game against Cleveland in very good seats behind home and his curve was just filthy. One of the better ones i have seen in person.
  9. Correct me if I am wrong, but he is on the 40 man and this year is his first option year, right?
  10. I had to switch from Internet Explorer to Foxfire. IE would crash about 15 seconds into a forum. So far, foxfire has been great.
  11. I understand where the critisism is coming from but i do think that some of the forums on here are a little outragous. A couple weeks ago at the deadline there were two forums that caught my eye. One was regarding the possible Tulo trade and the other was a possible trade with SD involving Shields. Then today, I see one about having too many bad contracts. Could you imagine if they added those two contracts and dumped more prospects to aquire those players? Do I hope and expect to see upgrades at SS, C, and bullpen this offseason? Yes, I most certainly do. Do I think TR, the rest of the FO, and Molitor know these are weaknesses that need to be addressed? Yes, I think they do. Lets be honest with ourselves. The rebuild is happening and it does take time. Look at KC. Gordan struggled when he came up, Moustakas struggled, Hosmer struggled. During all of that, they really only traded away prospects once and that was Myers to get Shields. They did when the time was right. I think we are a year away, if not two, from being in that position but we can be competative too. Don't forget, KC also traded away Greinke in the 2011 season, the same season Moustakas and Hosmer debuted. Now, looking at the Twins prospects, I think (and most do too) we have 3 very high level talents in Buxton, Sano, and Barrios. I think these three should be part of the core that will hopefully produce for us in the future. The next tier of prospects/young mlb players (Kepler, Gibson, May, Meyer, Rosario, D Santana, Polonco, Hicks, Arcia) might be part of the core or might be dangled when the time is right to get a position of need. I agree with the topic. Put the pitchforks down and look at the big picture. Buxton, Sano, Rosario, and Meyer all debuted this year. Obviously, we would have liked Buxton and Meyers time at the big league level to be more productive. Sano has impressed. Rosario has held his own. Hicks looks the part now. May looks to be a nice pitcher (hopefully in the future rotation). Gibson has had some success. We hope Arcia comes around. We might still see Barrios in Sept and maybe Kepler. A lot of young players have had some success at the highest level and should continue that in years to come. I am suprised it has already started to happen and that leaves me excited for the future.
  12. I am disappointed that Barrios isn't going to get a chance this weekend or even Meyer but running May and Duffy out there is better than Cole Devries and PJ Walters or Deduno.
  13. When it is all said and done, I think he gets 3000 and gets in. Like it has been stated, his fielding is top notch and he put up very good offensive numbers in a position where offense is supposed to be coming from. IMO, he is a HOFer.
  14. I have good tickets to the game Saturday. Bring up Berrios!
  15. I doubt Colorado would take Nolasco. Wouldn't Reyes' contract expire before Nolasco's and aren't they roughly the same money? I wouldn't mind Reyes but I wouldn't give up anything more that Duffey or Rodgers or a couple of lower fringe prospects.
  16. Cishek to the Cards. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/07/cardinals-steve-cishek-deal-nearing.html
  17. I hate the All Star break. I want games to be played again so I don't have to read about Ben Revere.
  18. In Dozier's AB, there was a foul ball on which Fryer was running. I think it was originally called a ball then changed to foul. They originally credited Fryer with a SB but when they changed that, and that killed the game casts.
  19. I have zero faith in Thompson, Boyer, and Duensing and about as much in Graham and Fein. I get "hiding" Graham and I doubt Fein is going anywhere but I see three job openings that are up for grabs and no one wants to take them and run with them.
  20. Did Phil Coke sign with anyone yet?
  21. I was regretting the decision to not to KC this weekend. I am really regretting it now!
  22. If he doesn't hit a bases empty grand slam I will be disappointed.
  23. I just wish both averages were 100 points higher, then that would be a great debate.
  24. It is just a guy feeling but I can see Boston taking Aiken at 7. They have pitching depth in the minors (Owen, Ball, Johnson), and they brought up Rodriguez. They are also a team that can go out in free agency and get a big name so they aren't as dependent on the draft as most teams. I could see them taking a big risk at 7.
