  1. both teams also did it with Eddie Rosario contributing to the HR totals too.
  2. The healthiest players will be on the field. I suspect Lewis will DH game 1 and probably start at third in game 2 and DH game 3 and be back at third moving forward starting round 2.
  3. The Twins have been around a lot longer than just the 2000s. You could include the 1965 World Series Team or 87 and 91 World Series winners or is the article about the 18 game losing streak. We are not the Mariners or Rangers 2 teams who have never won the World Series. I don’t think Seattle has even been to the World Series. We atleast get chances to go to the playoffs and the 2010 and 2020 teams were really good those years.
  4. We definitely won’t be seeing a 10 inning game 7 of the World Series shutout this time against the Braves by our starting pitcher…..
  5. Lopez missed the strikeout crown by three. They should have left him in there till he got it. Gausman 237 Ks Lopez 234 Ks
  6. It might be overkill, but I can see the Twins adding 12 pitchers for the post season. Our bullpen would be that dominant that a 15-inning game will not wear out the pen for the next game. I could be wrong, but the pitching is our strength this post season we need to dominate with it. Also check out this article on mlbtraderumors.com regarding our pen for the playoffs. 7. The solution to preventing the bullpen implosion we see in past years is easy. Gray and Lopez will have to pitch complete games to secure their wins. If Berrios or Meada stayed in their games longer and pitched more than 5 innings. They could have saved the bullpen from themselves and the streak would have ended back then.
  8. September pen has Funderbunk and Varland in it vs August pen….
  9. I think Meada has earned the starting job in the playoffs. I hope he gets it. I also hope the Twins resign him to a 2 year deal this offseason. Also I don’t think the Twins will announce game three starter till after game 2 is played. Just in case one of Ryan or Meada ends up in a game in relief before game 3.
  10. And the Twins would have to go undefeated the rest of the way too if the Rangers only win 1.
  11. The Twins pitchers lead all of MLB teams pitching in strikeouts with 1477. Lopez and Ryan are both in the top 4 in the AL in strikeout rate.
  12. I think Meada starts game 3. Ryan starts game 1 of next round. Funderburk makes the roster. I think Buxton should be off the roster but I think the Twins will hope he can channel his inner Kirk Gibson in the series. If he can’t play the OF he can’t run well. He shouldn’t be out there. Ober will be the 12th pitcher since Ryan will start game one of the next round and Ober can go 3 innings if need be in a 15 inning marathon. To me the great debate is PH vs Pinch Runner Luplow vs Stevenson. This is a coin toss of who should make the roster. And I guess neither if they keep Buxton. The position players are much easier to figure out then pitching. But for now the Twins need to focus on getting to 90 wins. To do that they need to win their last 8 regular season games.
  13. You should add a section for possible injury replacements. That way you can profile players like Ober and Keuchel and Gallo or anyone else who could end up playing a role of some kind during a long playoff run.
  14. Enlow was essentially our 1rst round Starting Pitcher draft pick that draft. He seems stalled in AAA. I hope he makes it up at some point and does well. I was trying to think of the other players we were considering at #1 in the draft to see how they did. Does anyone here remember?
  15. We can still win 90 games by going 9-0 the rest of the way. ok that's not going to happen but with today's win we are guaranteed not to have a losing record. I hope we make it to at least 87 wins.
  16. I think the 2019 Yankees are the only team with 13 players with double digit homeruns.
  17. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/09/twins-designate-jordan-luplow-for-assignment.html
  18. 12 games left. 6 at SS with 3 at DH and 3 on the bench. Seems legit.
  19. I’m more concerned about who we play in the 2nd round.
  20. Not since the international class of 2009. Hopefully they fix the area where development is going wrong and start developing more players from International signings. I know we are signing highly rated players so the problem is in development. Maybe at low A and Rookie League levels the coaching isn’t reaching those players properly. I don’t know.
  21. I guess that’s why Andy MacPhail said 2-3 players meaning 2.5 players which is a full 1.0 player per year on average higher than the national average. Which gives the team half its 25/26 man roster every 5 years with the rest coming from Extensions, Free Agency, Waivers, Trades and so on. Developing players is the lowest cost for player acquisition especially if more are developed without increasing spending.
  22. If we are able to produce more than the 2-3 regular players on an annual basis it will make it easier for us to let players go as they approach free agency which will help keep payroll in check. How many players should we be able to produce on an annual basis? 3? 4? 5? obviously it will fluctuate some from year to year. But the goal should be to produce 10-15 regulars every 5 years. Again if we are producing 15-20 regulars then we have players to trade and the payroll costs will be able to stay down as we move on from players as they approach free agency. The Twins will probably put more money into scouting as they get more efficient at this type of player acquisition,
  23. Who is going to pitch the 15th inning of a 16 inning marathon game the day after the pen pitches 5 innings to close out a close win????? We need contingency for these things.
