  1. Henriguez needs more than 4 appearances to show he is ready. He could be a September call up if he keeps it up. He still needs to show consistency to get the call up.
  2. Jeffers isn’t playing more because we signed Velasquez to be the main C. He is getting paid 10 million to C for us. Jeffers should get more playing time. At least in my opinion. Clearly Jeffers has earned his way to 60% of the C duties and Velazquez needs more time on the bench. An occasional start at DH or 1B for either in is not a big deal. Though I hope we don’t play Velazquez too much at 1B or even again…..
  3. no We have plenty of 1B options. maybe for a game or 2 he can play 1B. But we should have plenty of other options. He can be a DH if we just want to get his bat in the lineup and extra few days.
  4. I would have Balazovich on the list somewhere. He is proving himself reliable in the pen now.
  5. I could see Dobnak replacing Keuchel in the current rotation either next start or start after it.
  6. If the option is Gallo or Lee. I think using September for them to compete and show who is the better player and better option for the playoffs at 1B is fine by me. I think Lee can handle that and get used to playing in the majors to be fully prepared for next season and see if he is ready to play for us in the playoffs.
  7. MLB.com has our system ranked 11th out of the 30 teams. 3 top 100 prospects and good depth. We added 5 new top 15 prospects through the draft this year.
  8. I’m totally fine with resigning Gray to a 3 year 70 million contract. I think he likes being competitive and close to Tennessee but probably hates the cold.
  9. He has been solid in AAA and starting to pitch like he deserves a promotion back up to replace Keuchel for a start or two before Ryan comes back. next season he can be a long man or 7th starter. If he cracks the top 5 good for him especially if we pile on more depth. That should mean he earns it.
  10. 1 WAR is worth 8-10 million so he justified his pay and nothing more at this point. He seems to have a little excess value if he finishes the season between 1.5-2.0 WAR. But nothing to exciting.
  11. 2024 Rotation: Lopez Ober Ryan Mead Paddack Varland Dobnak rehabbing Mahle whoever wants to be the 8th starter where does Keuchel fit in all of this?
  12. It’s cheaper to have a strong bench than it is to sign everyday players. We usually have a good bench because of this. Compare our bench to other teams and you will see we have a top 3 bench in the league if not the best. We would probably have a better pen if the Twins would sign some 3-6 million per season players like we do on our bench instead of only dumpster diving.
  13. Arreaz for Lopez has been an even trade. It would be nice if one of the prospects acquired in the deal makes this a great deal for us. Say Salas comes up and hits .300 with 60XBH and 15 steals a season for 6 seasons….
  14. 1B is one of the easiest positions to play. It’s where you put DHs when there is no opening at DH. Julien can play 1B and a better fielding Polanco can handle 2B. If it was spring training then by all means keep giving Julien reps and instruction at 2B. But we are in a playoff push and every advantage adds up. Polanco is a plus defender at 2B, while Julien needs work.
  15. No one has said this. They say he could be a passable starter. He clearly has downgraded stuff from his Cy Young days but he could be a serviceable 5th starter for a few starts and possibly a few more.
  16. For me, I would like to see the international class of 2009 (Kepler, Polanco and Sano) combine to reach over 500 HRs for the Twins. (Was hoping they could reach 1000 for the Twins….. but Sano…..). They currently have Kepler at 147, Polanco at 104 and Sano stuck at 161. For a total of 412. 500 is a nice goal and maybe they will reach it. But there is marketing in this as they climb higher…. also on Kepler, he had an .800 OPS till he got hurt last year and this year since he got healthy he has been mashing. If he is healthy at the end of the year, I say pick up his option and if you can extend him sure why not.
  17. The problem with Keuchel is he didn’t give up enough runs so I can say see he sucks. Instead I have to go through various stats to make the conclusion the a guy who gave up one run in 5 innings as a fillin starter should not get another one. Especially after he had 6 or so starts in AAA with the same or better results. And the fact that he would get at most 3-10 starts doesn’t matter because he should give up more runs because. So let’s just not bother and go find someone else I can complain about so we can chase that starter out too.
  18. This is the 5th spot in the Rotation. Dylan Bundy was fine for that. He had a 8-8 record. Made his starts and got through 5 innings consistently. That is the floor of a good 5th starter. As far as Keuchel is concerned. There is enough to be concerned about but he has earned another start or two. He had 6 good starts in AAA and 1 solid one here. I think we all would have been upset if he left without the opportunity. The results say he deserves another start. I don’t expect him to end up with anything less than a 4.00 era with a larger sample size of innings. And if he goes higher then that we can yank him out and put Varland back in. I would give him a minimum 3 or 4 starts.
  19. We can still get that right handed bat as Trey Mancini and Luke Voit can be had for prorated league minimum.
  20. In terms of extra base hits, I am. In terms of slugging percentage he is. But that is more a function of the low batting average.
  21. The silver lining is Brooks Lee was promoted to AAA recently. I’m hoping Correa can go on a somewhat of a hot streak and raise his average into the .240 range. At least his power numbers are still at normal levels. Also hoping his numbers increase back to norms next year. If plantar fasciitis is what is holding him back this year maybe he gets treatment over the offseason and is back to normal next season. That’s all I got.
  22. I agree except that I’m fine with him spending a few months in AA and AAA next season to get into a consistent rhythm. Also control is the last thing to come back after TJ surgery so let him get that worked out in the minors before coming up.
