  1. If the Twins trade Lopez, they better get value back and include all of Vazquez salary in a trade. Maybe send a million or two max but that’s it. And for talent coming back it needs to include a hitter or C that is pre arbitration and a pitching prospect in high minors that is highly rated.. since we are trading Paddack we can take back a little salary in this trade so…..
  2. Should either player decline offensively next season Santana can still add value on defense. He has the higher floor for next year. How much of a raise does he get? I do expect either Miranda or Julien to get some time at 1B next year. So Santana should get some time at DH and some time on the bench and maybe get 450 AB next season so more players get more playing time and Santana remains fresher for play.
  3. I’m not saying he won’t be a good owner but if he spent his whole life rooting for the Tigers….. and I don’t live in Minnesota anymore. I live 10 miles from Angels stadium.
  4. Matt Ishbia live in or around Pontiac Michigan His main company United Wholesale Mortgage is in Pontiac Michigan. He grew up there and went to college there. He has college team mates work for him there too.
  5. I’ve met Matt Ishbia a few times. He’s a positive high energy person. Was the last man on the bench in college ball. Knows how to win and has the Pohlads loyalty/ family vibe to the workplace. You will like him as the owner only concern is he is based out of Detroit. Ishbia took a small mortgage wholesaler and made them in some respects the largest lender in the Nation. He runs his company off of 6 principles. I don’t remember them but thumbs for I’m responsible and people are your biggest resource. I’m going to go visit his company again soon. Hopefully in January. Let me know if you want me to ask any questions
  6. I can totally see this happening especially when our current OF consists of Larnarch, Buxton, and Wallner with Emmanuel Rodriguez and walker Jenkins getting closer and closer to debuting by the day.. we also have Castro as well on a one year 6 million or so deal. There is plenty of room to lock up another OF for 3 years. Makes perfect sense to me 🤡
  7. You would save more than 5 million by trading Velazquez. 2 subpar Cs have signed 1 year 8.5 million contracts. Would you rather have Vazquez or Gary Sanchez? Danny Jansen with a .658 OPS last year was the other. I would think that 8 million or so would be Vazquez value too. here is a better idea or concept. I just think we are stuck with Vazquez based on the Twins way of operating and the intangibles he seems to bring to the pitching staff. package both Paddack and Dobnak with a prospect and trade to Oakland for a prospect back. Since this is a salary dump the two main objectives for the A’s is getting a prospect who will be up when they move to Las Vegas plus they spend more money to stay eligible for revenue sharing. We get savings and a lower level prospect to work on. Savings 10.5 million. I can see the Twins living with being a million over budget going into the season.
  8. You have to include Santana signing with the Polanco trade. His contract was prenegotiated and contingent on that deal happening. Topa could provide good value this year and we still have a solid OF prospect in the minors….. with that said the Twins will need to make a deal. Probably Paddack. Jansen just signed a 1 year 8 million contract in Tampa and he had a down year last year in Toronto . This makes the. Velazquez contract less underwater then we thought. If Oakland needs a C. They have money to burn. If saving money is important we should sell a solid prospect to Oakland and a flyer one for Vazquez and Dobnak. Both on one year deals could be ideal with a good prospect coming over. Maybe OF Gonzalez from Seattle trade and CH Culpepper SP. or some other combo you decide, not sure what we would get back in this trade. once the salary dump is made I can see the Twins signing one of Mark Canha, Polanco, or Santana. The rest of the offseason would be minor league signings. What else needs to be done? Get healthy first the season.
  9. With his numbers, I prefer in house options to start at 1B. But if he were signed to back up LF, RF, 1B, and DH and plans on 300 plate appearances then yes sign for 3-4 million. He would then be insurance and a solid floor at 1B if Miranda, Larnarch, Severino, or Julien don’t run away with the position. I prefer bringing Santana back first if that is an option.
  10. Tonkin is the only question mark. I can see the non tender as a means to lower the salary. Getting a guarantee is better than being non tendered so If Tonkin resigns it will be in the 1.2-1.3 million range. Every dollar counts. fir a team that paid Marwin González 9 million a year to be a super sub 10th position player 10 million. 6.2 million is not too much and Castro is better than Marwin. I totally expect him to be offered a contract and wouldn’t be surprised if he got a 3 year 24-27 million deal Everyone else is tendered. Killeroff was my only other question mark and he took care of that himself already.
  11. So the Twins took a grizzled vet instead of the young unknown Genesis G70 for example . No one has heard of him or knows what to expect when you get him. At least you know that Celica has a solid floor. His ceiling isn’t to high but easily the most projectable and cost controlled pick available.
  12. We all were 😂 but since I don’t expect many transactions this offseason every transaction is a big deal. Just for some news.
  13. Blewett and Severino have resigned with the Twins on a minor league deal.
  14. And you didn’t even bring up Topa or Tonkin. They are both solid back of the bullpen guys.
  15. If that C prospect in LA is good enough I would include more international spending cap in case we need to kick in a million or two in the Vazquez trade with the Cubs. But the C prospect needs to be Jeffers caliber or better.
  16. The thing is Vazquez is on a one year contract with about 4-5 million overpay. That is not as bad as other contracts we have signed in the past. If we trade him we need salary relief. I would be good if we were able to trade Dobnak with Vazquez and 5 million international draft bonus as that frees up 18 million because of the 5 million we don’t spend on international players. That allows us to keep Paddack if we decide to keep pitching depth and we can pay 6 million or so for a C and still make out 12 million in savings. I don’t know how much we need to move from the books but this is the only way it makes sense to me as trading Vazquez for a net 2 million in savings or less is a waste.
  17. I’m fine with keeping him if it doesn’t mean we have to trade someone else for budget. He seems the easiest one to trade between him and Vazquez. There isn’t anyone else I would want to trade
  18. I’m not sure downgrading backup C for 3 million savings is a win. Also Paddack has value and will bring back a prospect or what you proposed with including Dobnak with the flyers for salary relief and now you can keep Vazquez. And lastly, I am fine with the Twins tendering both or either Tonkin and Topa especially after dropping Winder and Blewitt last week. I Like the idea of signing Bieber but how do the Twins afford him in 2026? 17 million is a lot.
  19. And Cade Povich made it up with the Orioles as well.
  20. I think it’s because we already have 6 or 7 starters in front of him. He probably has the ceiling of a number three starter if not for the blockage. You can never have too much pitching.
  21. From the rookie class who succeeded out the gate, Danny Santana says 👋🏽 hi. He hit. Over .300 with an OPS over .800 his first season.
  22. There are reinforcements at AAA and we have a young staff that still has Three years together so we have time to develop more pitching
