  1. Huge move. Seems like a heavy price to pay for two years of Gray. They need to acquire another high end starter if they want to compete. Otherwise these two trades don’t make a lot of sense to me.
  2. 12 teams make the playoffs now. They should be trying to contend nearly every year.
  3. Going to aarongleeman.com makes me so nostalgic. I'm glad it's still there, and looks the same.
  4. I realize the MLB draft is a bit of a crap shoot and you could do this most drafts, but looking at who was chosen after Cavaco is brutal. A lot of big prospect names. I had it in my mind that Cavaco was chosen pretty late in the 1st round but 13th overall looks so bad. Hopefully he can prove us wrong.
  5. I find most of these moves to be incredibly optimistic and Twins friendly. Verlander isn't coming to Minnesota if they don't significantly outbid the competition. Gray will get more than 30 million over 3 years. Kepler will absolutely not net Manaea in return. I would like this offseason plan, it's just not happening.
  6. I'd be shocked if any of them got an offer from the Twins. It's just not gonna happen. I'm hoping for 2022 they can find a defensive specialist that can hit a better that Anderlton did. And re-evaluate next offseason. I'm still hoping Royce Lewis can be a competent SS.
  7. Maybe watch this to gain a new appreciation for him and his character. It’s incredible what he’s overcome.
  8. I desperately hope the Twins win a playoff game this year, it only to stem the negativity from fans a bit. It’s gotten over the top and comical at this point. There’s nothing wrong with being critical of the FO but I feel like people aren’t being reasonable. Anyways, I’m happy to see Astudillo make it. Garlick is a surprise but I’ll take the better defense in LF. I think Rooker needs to be a DH. Hopefully he hits enough to be an option there when Cruz is gone.
  9. Shoemaker is a veteran who was promised a starting spot in the rotation to sign here. You can’t send him to the minors. He’s good when healthy. When he or anyone else in the rotation gets hurt, Dobnak will be there. Relax. Unless he himself gets hurt, he’ll end up starting more games than someone that is currently in the rotation. They could have not signed Shoemaker but then they have less SP depth. I don’t understand how people are confused or upset about this.
  10. Debacle seems like a really strange word to use for this situation.
  11. I’m skeptical he’ll ever be much more than what he has been, but I’d sign him to this kind of deal. Solid mid rotation starter.
  12. Interesting article if his projected salary was actually significant. I would have simply tendered him a 1.5-3 million dollar deal and DFA’d him if he turned back into a pumpkin. What’s the point of taking a flyer on a guy like Wisler and cutting him loose when he achieves the best possible scenario of performance?
  13. I’ve always heard girth is more important.
  14. Calvin’s father, Clark Griffith, was a former MLB player, manager, and owner who truly loved baseball and never moved a franchise from it’s city. And as far as I know, wasn’t an avowed racist. Calvin was a racist who inherited his daddy’s franchise and got rich off it. P.s. removing a statue that was built 10 years ago isn’t “erasing history”. Neither is removing statues built in the 50s to intimidate the Civil Rights movement. Honoring and whitewashing the deeds of awful humans with statues is erasing history.
  15. Would you like it to remain a distraction for him and the team? What else can he say? He took part in it. His apology seems sincere. Time to move on.
  16. That’s all nice, but it still adds up to a career ERA+ of 105, and he’s entering his age 32 season. That doesn’t scream ace to me.
  17. Why not package Graterol along with other prospects for a SP with higher upside? Even if there isn't one available right now, there will be during the season. They can still make that trade, but they have one less prospect to do it with. I just don't see how Maeda significantly moves the needle. I already had faith we had enough of a rotation to win the division. I don't think we have the rotation to compete with the Yankees in the playoffs and we still don't.
  18. I'm all for taking risks and making a "win now" move. I just don't see Maeda as someone you start in the playoffs and feel great about. You just feel ok about him as the number 3 or 4 in the playoffs. Not worth it for losing Graterol.
  19. When he's healthy, yes he's worth that much money. And if the's not..that's not what they're paying him, so who cares? I don't have a problem with the Hill signing. I don't care for Bailey, and I don't care for the lack of other moves.
  20. I like this idea. Not what I wanted going into the offseason, but it’s probably the best option now. They would then still have payroll flexibility and prospect capital...enough to go after Nolan Arenado, perhaps.
  21. Anyone think Cruz could make it to the HoF? I think if he has a 2020 like the projections say, and another decent year after that, it's possible. He's at 401 HRs...if he manages to have 3 more good years, (probably a stretch), he could get to 500. I think that's probably the only way he definitely gets in. There is the steroid thing, but that doesn't seem to get brought up a lot with him.
  22. It's concerning, but the fact that he's 20 years old and has such a good makeup makes me optimistic. Which is basically what the Fangraphs write-up said. I reallllly hope he becomes a good defensive SS, though. We need that.
  23. I like goofy MiLB team names and mascots, so I like this. That font could defnitely be better, though.
  24. Someone watched Moneyball. Just about any MLB player can handle first base. Especially a passable third baseman. Not that he's going to be great there, but he'd be fine. Plus, he has played 223 career innings at 1B.
  25. I'm all for getting Chapman, and giving up the farm to do it. Don't know why we would trade Buxton to do so. If we want better defense, let's not trade our best defender for it. He's to the point where he's going to start getting expensive, as well, so it doesn't make sense if the A's are trying to shed payroll. The trade would start with Kiriloff AND Lewis and I would absolutely be interested in doing that.
