  1. I got my first chance to see Javier in action last Friday. The one thing he has going for him is that he can probably stick at SS at least from what I saw. It's not a deep position in the system. It could be a blessing in disguise that the bat still isn't quite there. He probably still slips through the Rule 5. He's still slightly young for his league, but that 33% K rate just isn't going to play. I hope he can hang on for at least another season or two and be a late bloomer.
  2. Maybe the Twins should take a page out of the Blue Jays book and draft Junior. Bichette, Biggio and Vlad are already part of that explosive offense, and Jeff Conine's kid is on the way. I'm on the Andruw Jones, Jr. bandwagon right now. My second choice would be whomever, among Temarr Johnson, Brooks Lee, Jayson Jones and Carter Young, the Twins think can stick at SS. They all seem destined for 2B, 3B or OF though.
  3. They're still projecting though. MLB did pretty well in 2016. There are some misses, but there are loads of stars and players who have had good seasons. https://www.mlb.com/news/2016-top-100-mlb-prospects-list-c301608606 Hopefully, Miranda will be our Matt Olson. ?
  4. Louie Varland had his turn skipped, and I feared he was hurt. Lucky for me, he got pushed back to Friday, and I will just happen to be going to that game. This Quad Cities team has a tough lineup. Kansas City definitely has the edge in offense at this level.
  5. He's lucky. Two lifetimes as an MLB pitcher. I'll probably be an emaciated cow.
  6. My impression is that Bailey Ober has little stamina as a starting rotation option. I wish the Twins had Luis Garcia instead.
  7. I fear this is the way it will be the rest of the season with every pitcher not named Maeda or Pineda. It really sucks as a fan. We've been waiting for another internally developed starting pitcher to rise up the ranks and grab a spot in the rotation and keep it. Ober has come the closest to doing that, and he gets pulled when he has a chance to do something fun like K 10 guys, win a game and really start to develop some swagger. Rocco is annoying. Ober worked through that 4th inning and then gets told "too much duress for you! Hit the shower".
  8. Robles gone too. Did they possibly send out Buurows as well and get rid of all 17 runs?
  9. Three hours left to move the expiring contracts or this isn't as sweet. I hope Martin can stick at SS.
  10. Yeah, it's looking like the decisions made in the next 29 hours will have a massive effect on the look and expectations of this club for the next 221-383 games. If Berrios does get traded, Falvine is going into the off-season with a 2022 starting rotation of Maeda, Ober, Dobnak, Jax, ?. If I'm Robbie Ray or someone similar, I'm laughing at any reasonable offer to come to Minnesota. It would have to be a huge overpay.
  11. You're really reaching to defend Baldelli here. I can give you #1 on Burrows, but not Happ and Minaya. Neither of them are long with the Twins, so there is no need to see what they can do in the situation. As far as #2 goes, I can't imagine there is much desire outside the org very deep into the Twins pen. It's been god awful all season.
  12. Give me nine walks and Rocco, and the sky ... er .... the bottomless pit is the limit!
  13. Let's stop being mean to Hansel. It was hot and his tummy was upset. It's all OK now, because Uncle Rocco tucked him in and read him a story.
  14. Looking at Boston's starters, Pineda may slot in at #2 until Sale gets back into form.
  15. This is a good write-up, and he's an exciting prospect. Adding him to the 40-man is an absolute no-brainer in the off-season at the very latest. Even if Donaldson isn't traded, he's getting older and could probably stand to take up to 25% of his games at DH. Miranda can also spell Arraez and Kirilloff against tough lefties and DH some himself. If the team somehow has zero injuries, then it will be a good problem to have. The likelihood of that happening when you have Arraez, Donaldson, and Kirilloff on your team is virtually zero though. Miranda could also just rake AAA for another year. He's young enough and has three options. I wouldn't call it service time manipulation either, because he is legitimately blocked by one or more players at all his positions right now.
  16. Let's say hypothetically that Maeda gets the win tonight. I wonder how many times a pitcher (or any player for that matter) has scored a walk-off run and followed it up with a pitching win the next game.
  17. Unless they are blowing it up, I don't see how this helps the Twins. Peraza doesn't even have 200 PAs at AA, so he likely won't be a cog on a contending team in 2022. Everything you covered on Kepler makes me not want him traded. With known controlled costs of all other outfielders not named Buxton, the Twins could even afford for him to be the 4th outfielder with his contract. You may not sign a 4th outfielder to that contract, but you can play an already signed guy that way when you have the Larnachs, Rookers, Kirilloffs and Celestinos making $600K for a couple more years.
  18. Fire Baldelli. If this time of year in this situation isn't the time to see how a guy having a good day on the mound can handle a tough hitter a third time, I don't know what is. Interest in his brand of baseball is waning.
  19. He has 50 major league PAs. At least give him the two months left to adjust to the big leagues. He still has another option, so there's no need to rush into moving him at a low value. If there is room on the 40 for someone like Law or Refsnyder, there is room for Rooker.
  20. Good write up, but I was surprised the performance of a top prospect (good or bad) was omitted. It seems Winder's had the long ball get to him early in AAA. The other numbers still look really good. That was a terrible throw by the CF!
  21. I wanted the Twins to take Allan in the first round of the 2019 draft, and then they took Cavaco. Now we're talking about trading the best pitcher on the team for him. WTF!
  22. This all points to the need to Fire Baldelli!
  23. It would have been nice to see Barnes pitch longer, but the Twins have a microprocessor with bent pins for a manager. Pulling a rookie pitcher at that point shows a total lack of confidence, which is a terrible message to send, regardless of what your f$#king spreadsheet says.
  24. Damn, seems Isola was robbed on that Hitter of the Day award. Also, it seems that Chris Williams just needed some stiffer competition to start playing better.
