  1. I suggested Miller. But that was shot down. So I went with the popular choice.
  2. Lol. My first action as GM though would be to call up the Dodgers and say "hey, we have to rectify the fleecing that you did on the last guy. I want Miller back." Where is the guy we got? Doncon or whoever it was. I'm not mentioning by name the player we got as the centerpiece of the deal. But Miller has continued to improve which I knew he would. He still has GG potential if the Dodgers stick with him.
  3. Until the team gives us any indication I'm guessing that spending $$$ on a SS isn't happening. Thus far the only indication they have given is the July 31 slashing of payroll. I would like to see Culpepper at SS for the 2026 team myself. If not breaking camp with the team by mid season.
  4. I propose that we see if the Dodgers would deal Noah Miller back to us. Yes his hitting has improved. But he is an actual SS.
  5. I agree. But some of the problems this organization is having, and I don't know that Shelton can resolve it, is identification. Lee is a player that comes to my mind. Lee is talented. I think everyone would agree that he is. But he is not a SS. At least not one who is the type that will lead you to the highest level as a team. This should have been identified when he started playing for this team to begin with. Yes he can play the position but it isn't his strength. But everyone dreamed that we'd have a SS who would hit .320 and hit 20-25 HR and that would suffice making up for him being a weak fielder. His bat can't make up for it. This was ignored in favor of the dream of big offensive numbers. I want a SS who can first field. Hitting is gravy. I want a SS who is going to save my Pitcher. Get him back in the dugout sooner. Keep his pitch count down. We chose offense instead. And Lee may never put up the offense that was envisioned. So now we are left with another position that we have failed to develop. That in itself isn't Lee's fault. This is on the organization. Ozzie Smith the greatest SS ever would have been traded long before he ever made the ML by this brain trust, or left to languish bouncing between AA and AAA. This FO gave Noah Miller away. People clamor that he can't hit, which btw he has improved upon. But we had a GG caliber SS in our system given away in another of Falvey's masterminds. Instead we continue to scratch wondering who will step up. Identifying each players strength's continues to be a struggle for this franchise. Lets's see if we can make Martin into a power hitter. lol
  6. This didn't start to unravel in August of 2024. This started in March of 2021. The blip was August and September of 2023. This has been a listless team for most of 5 years. It's never been a talent issue. The team has had plenty of talent. Above average talent. It's been a mental issue and a heart issue. If Shelton and his new coaches can solve this we have some promise. But if Shelton continues the trend of looking at these players as human less spreadsheets the problems will continue to multiply. Falvey couldn't solve it. Lets hope this hire and the ones to follow get it going in the right direction again. I'm still a doubter but I'll give it a wait and see.
  7. Agreed, alone not enough. It looked like this pair would be the baseline of what we're rumored to want though. Or get a 3rd guy could be Jhostnxon Garcia. Made the ML and he's a RH OF for a change. But that seems like the kind of deal we need. One that has the future fully in view and gives us someone to plug a hole now who would still fit in with our present prospects.
  8. What kind of deal gets it done? Like with the Red Sox? Does Arias and Witherspoon pique their interest? I know, Arias is another SS.
  9. On the development side you also need to be able to develop a guys mindset and emotions. How to as a man be able to develop into an MLer. So far I at least like what I heard from Hawkins on this point. From what I also hear Shelton is an analytics guy, but if he himself could develop beyond that being first will also help. Players are not statistical spreadsheets. We also need to be able to do a better job of identifying an ML player from the onset. That's possibly the most difficult task of all. Some teams however seem to be much better than others at this. Edit: Billy Beane was part of the Tim Teufel trade. Perhaps the center piece of the Twins return along with a couple of pitchers coming our way.
  10. Like it or not this is the reality. This team as it stands is a 75 win team at best. That's at the most optimistic view that I can have. Though the performance of the team since the all star break of 2024 suggests that 75 is far better than it is. So is sitting on Ryan, Lopez and Jeffers to be a 75 win team wise? Spending 30mil to fill the holes to make it an 81 team wise? The wisest decision is to retool and look ahead and take the short-term lumps and bumps. My own personal biggest distaste is watching a 70 some win team that you know is maxed out.
  11. If he's not traded hopefully Hawkins can help to get him on track again. This is a guy who's heart was cut out in July and it showed after.
  12. I believe he is traded. That is part of Falvey's strategy in making a statement on the health of both Lopez and Festa.
  13. I agree with your points. A lot of my hopes for this team have vanished. But I do have a slim glimmer of hope in the hiring of Shelton. Though at the beginning it was uninspiring, maybe to a degree still is. But what I hope for is that Shelton and the new coaches that come in, Hawkins is a start, that the culture, confidence, heart and mind of this team is repaired. Based on some comments from Hawkins this at least seems possible. It has been obvious to me that something was wrong with this team for years. I mean years aside from the last 1/3 of the 2023 season. Continually a lackluster heartless effort. I'm hoping that this aspect of the Twins can be fixed by the new incoming staff and that Falvey and co will allow them to do so.
  14. I'm sure all of these guys could produce. But where are the Twins going to get the money from to sign 3 FA RP? I don't know if the Twins could sign these guys for 9-12 mil. My estimate is it would be over the 12. So where will the dollars come from? Many estimate that this team is already maxed out on budget. Maybe they can get an RP guy for Larnach. But they have shown their complete incompetence in trading Varland away who was still a league minimum player. Then they show it again yesterday in waiving Lawyerson. So we can pickup our own Lawyerson on the wire at anytime. Right? I doubt so. We witnessed in August and September what many waiver pickups look like. I think it is just as possible that we gave away a man who has made his own personal breakthrough. Who would have pitched for minimum as well. You don't do this the first week of November. If you have to have that 40 man spot open at that time you let a Kreidler go instead. This type of player is always readily available. Incompetent, and they're still in charge. In summary I don't believe this team will be signing 3-5mil FA's this off-season. But I get it we have to be discussing something.
  15. The best hire by this organization in some time imo. Hopefully Shelton, Hawkins, etc will be able to overcome our FO in time.
  16. imo Cody Lawyerson has value. The Angels must think so. Maybe he's easy to replace with another waiver pickup. Ok. But how have the waiver pickups from the past 3 month's fared? Awful is how. But we'll stick with a Gasper though. Why? Because someone is still dreaming that he can be this super utility player even though he's shown that he isn't. And Julien has proven that he can't field a position but he remains. And has proven that ML P's have adjusted to him and he can't make the needed adjustments. This is why my hope for this team has vanished. Once again we will see Gasper and Julien on the team while Eeles and Fedco remain on the outside. Fire Falvey. Until that happens this team will fail.
  17. Polanco was given away. Discarded. Good for him though as 2025 looks like he finally recovered. But we got another great prospect for him right? Sure. We also got another Falvey dream of an SP who got approximately 0.0 IP. When a team needs BP pieces as bad as this one does after Falvey's implosion of it in July you can't afford to throw away possible pieces. He had zero value of Varland either from what I can tell.
  18. I'm fine with moving Lopez and any other player. With Pablo the return has to be good and without 2026 in mind.
  19. I agree. Kody is likely the primary 1B this season. I expect Julien and Gasper are back as well and will also fill in at the position. This is not going to be pretty. 60 wins looks like an optimistic view to me. More trades coming.
  20. Immediately picked up. Twins don't need any BP help I guess. Had to make room for all of the big name RP's that we will sign this off season.
  21. When a player finally knows that he has made that break through is impossible for the analytic sheets to show.
  22. I'm actually behind Shelton at this point. But he is going to have a very poor team to work with this season. And an awful FO to work for. If this team wins 60 Shelton deserves manager of the year. The 2026 team will not get better either. More trades coming.
