  1. Don't forget Willi can play SS, 2B and 3B. Bader cannot. I'm sure Willi could step in at 1B too if really needed. Castro's career trajectory is still trending upward. He was way over used at the end of season. Speaking of 1B that hasn't been addressed. Oh, but maybe it has. Think Gasper. I can see them kicking Miranda in the gut too by giving Gasper the majority of 1B play.
  2. As the day has gone on and the more I evaluate this sign, the more I see that I would have liked to see this FO do nothing. I'm not anti Bader, but we just signed a guy for 6.25 mil, who will play very regularly. Who's career trajectory is going downward. And derailed once again the careers of our significant prospects and players.
  3. This move also greatly effects Hellman and Martin. Hellman and Keirsey for sure have just had their taxi ride to St.Paul booked. Martin also likely. No chance Martin makes the team now. Bader and Castro will both have full-time jobs moving around from position to position. Larnach also affected. As long as Buxton is healthy, and we hope he is, Bader making the big Twins $$$$ will be cutting into Larnach's role. Just when he is starting to make headway. BAM!!! I also contend that when the trade was made for Gasper that he will have an ML job. Why even have a minor league system when you do everything you can to get in the way of your prospects???
  4. We needed a bat, who would have even a respectable glove. We got Bader who we know from history will be in the lineup on a fairly regular basis no matter how bad that bat is. Many wanted to see Emrod be that bat. Now we can wait until multiple injuries to see if he has a future. Because we know that this team is very slow to move off of veterans on multiple million dollar salaries, they don't just get moved out. I have nothing against Bader. But offensively we just got worse and defensively Bader has been in regression. Looking at that lineup, why would we want a well below average bat in COF? But I think your lineup is accurate.
  5. 1 year at 6.25 mil with 200k of bonus available for Bader. I would be very surprised if Castro isn't dealt now. The numbers line up very closely.
  6. Hopefully they will trade Kiersey to an organization that will give him an actual oppurtunity.
  7. Bader has a +1 drs in the last 3 years. A 78 wRC in the span. It is what it is. I'm also in the camp that this keeps Emrod in the minors again. Unless they swing a deal with Larnach for example. Agreed, uninspiring.
  8. I don't like that his defense in Center is regressing to average. Still good in the corners, sure. But why would you ever want his bat in the corners? Would have preferred we just stay within the organization. But I'll cheer for it to work. Call me a doubter though.
  9. How I put it, if Canha signs here I will cheer for him. But count me as not cheering on a signing of him. I would rather see Hellman.
  10. That is an interesting twist Tony. Trade for Cease, depending on the cost. But trade Ryan, or Ober, and get a bigger load for one of them. With 3 years they'd demand a much greater haul back than Cease with one year. I'm an advocate of trading one of Ryan or Ober after this season. Prefer to move Ryan myself. This might be the best way to get an all Star impact bat here.
  11. Quero, great defender with a decent enough bat. Of all prospects across the board Quero is who I'd target over most anyone.
  12. I would consider a trade for Casas a solid move and one that I could support at the right price. Ober or Ryan is not the right price however. Not at all. At most Richardson, even that is likely a bit of an overpay. Julien and Martin maybe more in line. NOT Ober. IF,Festa, Raya, Matthews etc continue to progress I can see Ober being traded after this season when he has 2 years of control left. The deal at that point would be a blockbuster. Casas is solid imo but just a player. Not blockbuster material.
  13. It's who I expected them to sign two months ago. The price was bit higher than I expected. It's an ok move, but I concur with doctor, hope they don't do something stupid to follow this up. Like trade Vazquez for a flyer and go with Camargo at C.
  14. And zero heat coming out of the Twins hot stove. I guess ownership couldn't afford any gas to put in the saw to cut some wood......
  15. I believe this is Falvey's annual "I'm the smartest guy in the room" foray. They got Gasper to be on the ML roster as a tandem for Miranda. As a 2B option. To play some COF. To catch. To knock Hellman off of the roster. Right now I sense that Gasper is already pegged to make the ML team out of ST. This is the big splash move. The creativity that we have heard about. This is 2025's Margot move. I don't like it.
  16. If Detroit does sign Bregman they will probably be forecast to lose more than they gain. I agree it is a joke. We got better by losing Santana and replacing him with Gasper I'm sure.
  17. I'll go by what I've seen on the field lately. Cle, Det, and KC all made the PO's. Det and KC have both made some helpful upgrades on the field. Cle did some reshuffling which was far from retooling. MN has added Gasper and Mike Ford to an 82-80 team that was that good thanks to a 12-1 record against a team that lost 121 games. In addition feasted on the losing A's and Angels. These three organizations are also improved in different ways. We are sold that we will be good because? Buxton and Correa will be healthier in spite of being older? That recipe didn't work for me. Foregive me for not being more excited about our 1st place finish in PECOTA
  18. Yes about Larnach. If he was traded then Emrod has to be ready or we'd be in some hurt.
  19. Ryan or Ober with 3 years of control left. Neither quite as good as Cease. Easy no however. The idea of Matthews or Richardson and Castro or Larnach. I could probably be persuaded to give up Richardson and Larnach. Yes I like SWR, but pitching 4.2 IP is a negative to him. Castro, maybe. He will be an FA after the season. But we do need him for 2025 don't we? Larnach should be replaceable by Emrod soon enough we hope.
  20. I have long felt the 130mil budget had been dropped. But I also contend that any kind of addition will need a subtraction. If they are going to spend 5 mil someone will need to get traded. I don't see anyone getting moved anytime soon. Vazquez. Why would someone take him when they can sign McCann for very good chance of cheaper? Unless we pay off 6-7 mil of his salary. Then we can sign McCann. How does this improve us? Or we sign Connor Joe and have Gasper and Camargo backing up Jeffers. We are now way worse of a team. Paddack. Why would someone trade for Paddack when there are still numerous FA's floating around who are as good as him, and some will be cheaper that cost zero talent being traded to the Twins? I believe what we see is what we get. Aside from another very low level guy who will take an milb with an invite. I have no issue with these other than Kiersey and Hellman should still have the edge since they are our own already. I do have a hunch that Kiersey can do the job. The best chance of a trade are our prospects for low cost controllable players, or other prospects.
  21. I honestly don't think you'll have anything to worry about in that regard tony. I believe the roster is pretty set. The only real question is who gets the final bench spot. Hellman or Kiersey? Or who will get cut if they think Emrod is ready. Martin or Julien? A hunch tells me that they have made the big move that many have been clamoring for. That was the trade for Gasper. I think Gasper is ahead in the cut pecking order of Kiersey, Hellman, Julien and Martin. The way I'm seeing it through their eyes is that Gasper platoons at 1B. Is an emergency C. Fills in at 2B at times and gets some of the reps in COF as a RH bat. I also see the Gasper thing as Falvey's at least once yearly need to see himself as the smartest man in the room. He has an ego that gets in his way and if he would get it out of his way I think he could actually be really really good at what he does.
  22. At this point in the off season I hope that Falvey/Zoll do nothing rather than a reactionary panic move. Sign a Laureno type to a one-year deal for low dollars and call it good if you really need to.. Go with what we have. Polanco signing for almost 8 mil shows that anybody of use isn't coming cheap. Bader, Grichuk, Canha are not signing for minimum dollars. We just have to realize that no flash move is coming. Unless they are willing to trade a top prospect or two. Please just don't trade Vazquez or Castro at this point to dump salary. This team can't afford to lose them and replace them with who is left on the board.
  23. DiPoto seems unable to trade this winter. He's unwilling to trade pitching and has little on offense to deal that anyone would want. I think Seattle is in for a long season ahead. Lots of 3-2 games? Yes good for Jorge. GL to him.
  24. Cartaya is a project, nothing more at this point in time. I like him and nothing wrong with trying. However, with that said I would not be at all surprised to see him pushed as Vazquez's replacement for 2026.
