  1. I take it Falvey and Zoll are not going to give us a Boxing Day gift this year?
  2. Rickey imo was unquestionably the best player of the 80's. As a Twins fans I couldn't stand him. His confidence came off as arrogance. But as a baseball fan he was the best in the game. He called himself the greatest of all time. He had good reason to believe that and ranked right up there. There were few at his level all-time. Mays would be, maybe Mantle without injuries and Clemente had he lived longer.
  3. I thought it was a good article Tom,Thanks for writing it. It's an article written about an insignificant trade is all. I don't think its a bad trade, just insignificant. Sums up the off-season so far.
  4. No way. Moran's coming back off of TJ and he'll be slinging bullets. Visions of sugar plums dancing in his head.
  5. When it comes to the Stones and describing the Twins I'll go with a 1969 tune, "No Expectations"
  6. Twins fans have been extra nice this year, should be another lump coming our way.
  7. Mickey Mantle Mickey Lolich Mickey Tettleton Mickey Rivers Mickey Hatcher Mickey Gasper
  8. The reality is Chicago will be better this year, and some of their improvement will come against the Twins too. Right now we've added nothing. Nothing. But we've lost two of our four best fielders. Kepler and Santana. We've lost one of our top 5 hitters. Santana and added nothing. We don't catch the ball for squat or perform fundamental baseball tasks for squat or have basic situational hitting. We're not as good as we were last season when we won 82 games. We played something like .370 ball against winning teams. Then we clamor that we should trade from the one strength that allows us to actually compete, our starting pitching. Frustrating.
  9. If only we could play 162 games against the white Sox and angels, we'd be WS bound.
  10. In my honest opinion the budget thing has been blown out of proportion, if the set 130mil even exists. Why was Castro even tendered if it is? Paddock could have been easily moved for someone's low A flier if it was. Even Vazquez with some money going to the other team would have been moved. New acquisitions? Yeah I think the FO's hands are tied without players being moved out. I'm still believing that almost all of our moves are in house ones. Next off season could be very different.
  11. That's just it David, every position has question marks. Big ones and that includes SS and CF with all of the injuries they have. I mean take 3B and 2B for example. Lee and Lewis. One has superstar written all over him but can't stay healthy. The other we have no idea if he can hit at the ML level. 2024 he didn't.
  12. But here we have our FO sitting on its bum. Once they get up off of it they will spread a little peanut butter on it to entice the other GM's that did the same. Then we will go into panic mode and acquire the next DeSclafani and Margot and believe their peanut butter trick worked.
  13. I have been looking at Kim for a number of days now. This is one player that would truly help the team once he is cleared to play. Problem is no money allowed for additions.
  14. I concur with Dr gast. The time is now for Miranda and any additions are a moot point until trades are made to trim the budget. As far as the budget goes I speculate that they may have been given the leeway to be over 130mil, but no go ahead to add to the team without subtractions. That's why we see no additions. But as for Miranda, play him or trade him. That is only fair to the player. Don't play him at 3B, needs to be 1B. But we see what trading Wade did.
  15. These unfortunately aren't workable solutions. I'd be fine with Wade, but yeah you likely need a partner for him and its not Miranda. But then what do you do with Miranda? 3B again? I'd prefer not. You'd likely have to trade Miranda now, or probably should. Polanco? Lets not even try this. Julien? His glove work is the pink elephant in the room that nobody wants and the league found out how to pitch to him in 2024 and he couldn't recover.
  16. I would agree. We also have to remember, even if we don't like it, this FO has never been a player in the first half of the off-season. The exception being signing Jason Castro quickly out of the gate. This one no different, don't expect moves until around February 01 if they do happen.
  17. This sums up my thoughts too. I believe what we see now is what we start the season with. I believe Vazquez and Paddock will be traded but not until mid summer if they remain healthy along with Castro at that time. By doing this the return could be slightly better and they get very close to the budget target anyway. Just my own opinion. I also see the infield as Miranda 1B, Lewis 2B, Correa SS and Lee 3B. Backups of Castro, Martin, Kiersey and Julien if he makes the team. OF of Buxton, Larnach and Wallner.
  18. I had looked and hadn't seen that. But relooked after your post and I was wrong. I'm still glad we aren't giving up on Keaschell as I believe he is a lot closer to him having an ML opportunity as opposed to Caba. Sometimes the trades not made turn out pretty good. I'm hoping that is the case here.
