  1. I don't think we would get him for the price of a simple waiver claim, we're too far down in the order. I'm also not giving up someone that we truly believe in either. A mid level prospect would make sense and if a deal can be made for that, then yes absolutely. It would be nice to be the team that unlocks Cartaya. He's not making the team out of camp btw if he was acquired.
  2. Yes it sounds great that we have a good ranked system. But if these guys continue to fare poorly once they get to the ML level what does it matter? My sense is the struggling will continue until the rash platooning stops.
  3. I'm not sure how we can honestly say that "the Twins have kept pace with the pack." We lost Carlos Santana and Max Kepler and nothing to replace them. Our defense will be a black hole. Lewis at 3rd, if not injured. Julien at 2B and Miranda at 1B. GL with this.
  4. This. Detroit added. KC has addressed a weakness. Cleveland has shuffled some pieces. CWS can likely only improve over 41 wins. Twins have signed the ultra versatile Mike Ford. Detroit and KC are also still being linked to players still on the board, which is more than the Twins are. We are only being linked to trading two guys just so we can meet "budget."
  5. I'd prefer someone who will be an improvement over Steven Okert. My sense tells me Hart will be no better than Okert.
  6. When Falvey is on the phone talking to LAD about Cartaya, who I propose getting for a low level prospect, he talks to them about Rushing. Actually he needs to do more than talk he needs to act. Bring in another team that could take Jeffers and help meet LAD's price on Rushing. A three team trade would be creative. Vazquez could be kept to tutor Rushing. Then you find a backup next season.
  7. Mike is all Falvey Zoll can a Ford. He's no Disco Danny. Mike is really slooooow.
  8. Margot was an organizational disaster. Win win for the Dodgers. Rid of Margot and have Miller to develop.
  9. To sum up what I have read in the comment section, there are a lot of the TD posters that I would prefer were managing the team instead of Baldelli, and I am among the least of the Rocco bashers. He's a nice guy as far as I'm concerned. But strategy needs to change. The direction of the team needs to change.
  10. You do these moves in hopes of getting Willi Castro II. Except for Ford isn't Castro. He's 5 years older, 7 years in comparison to when Castro was signed and Ford has zero versatility. No I agree there is no bad milb signing, until these guys make the team and stink and further hinder the development of in house candidates. To sum up the state of the Twins, we have no money to make moves and nobody wants the players we want to move.
  11. Many posters were saying as of the first week of August of 2023 that the team wasn't fun to watch. I also felt that way. The last 7 weeks of 2023 the team finally got kick started.
  12. The thing is this has not been a fun team to watch for four full seasons now. Whether that's on Baldalli, Falvey, the analytics Department or all of the above.
  13. Rushing would be a great add, even if it meant expanding the trade with other players involved.
  14. Alex Freeland, Diego Cartaya and another player I'd be willing to consider. Cartaya's star may have burned up never to shine again,so maybe not. But if the other pieces are tantalizing I'd consider it. Duran has great value.
  15. I concur with chepettit. I'm open to trading Duran, but not if the return is a long the lines of this proposal.
  16. We have Vazquez, and I think that is how it will stay. Nobody wants him for 10mil. Falvey overpaid and will have to live with that.
  17. So we're going to take a step backwards to save 1-2mil, if that? Trade Zazquez and eat 4-5 mil, then sign McCann for 4mil. In the effort you just made your team much worse. Creative.
  18. I agree, catching position can only be in a much worse place if the only aim is to reduce payroll. I feel that Michael Helman should get a fair chance to be on the team over Gasper.
  19. I agree with you also. I'm not sure of which pieces would best fit together but I do see Baltimore as a team that will heavily pursue Lopez because they have to. They're in a corner right now. Sure they could also pivot to Flaherty and Pivetta but Lopez is a better option as far as talent level goes. And as you mentioned, the prospects either need to play and have a place to play or they just crash and burn.
  20. After Burnes signed with Arizona I'm seeing Pablo headed to Baltimore. They went the rental route but I think they may want more security this time around. Basallo and McDermott coming the Twins way? Just a hunch here.
  21. Prospects aren't just for storing away in a cache, Use them to acquire already talent too. Even though the Mahle trade didn't workout that is a decent example.
  22. Like Detroit signing Gleybar Torres this morning? That's a good solid addition by Detroit to address some weakness. No it's not superstar move. But he at least is an attempt to make Detroit better. I don't think any of us are expecting a top5 signing every year. Royals have added. Tigers have added. Cleveland has shuffled some pieces around. CWS has made moves that could change their future. Twins have drafted a rule 5 pitcher who has pitched 40 innings above A ball. But we're left with "the Twins would have made the post season if they hadn't collapsed at the end. Hope we've learned from that." The '84 Twins collapsed at the end too and it took them 2 full seasons to recover. And it took the additions of Reardon, Berenguer, Gladden, Blyleven, Newman, etc to become a real contender.
