  1. I'd like to give a shout-out to Cleveland for making their late-season run and ridding us of the Astros.
  2. If Festa is healthy, I vote for co-closers - Festa and a veteran FA/trade - maybe even a trade for a failed starter. Prielipp looks like he could maybe close after he's had some experience.
  3. Some good stuff in there and the Hoskins idea works well, and the payroll is still low even with Pablo. But one of those 6 OF spots needs to go to a backup SS, or a FA who can do both. The bullpen needs a couple veterans, and maybe Festa and Zebby. Hopefully, that crew you list will fight for four spots, and the pen could be average-ish. Also, I think it will be E-Rod, not Jenkins, who starts with the Twins. And if I were Gabriel Gonzalez, I think I'd learn to play 1B over the winter...
  4. If I were the Twins, I'd fire my scouting department at this point, too. A dartboard might prove more effective.
  5. I think SWR will start 2026 as the long man or 5th starter, and Outman will be the backup CF. And Clemens... I'll say he sticks on the 40 over the offseason but gets cut in spring training.
  6. I think he gets one more year in center. He also had that nasty head-to-head with Correa on May 15th.
  7. Regarding the salary dump convo, a lot of these trades are indirect salary dumps. Assuming Outman and Roden are viewed as 3rd/4th OF for 2026 because signing the Larnach/Bader/MAT/Margot types costs more. And Jenkins, E-Rod, Gonzalez will still need to earn their way in, but that path is much clearer.

  9. How would the redraft look? Maybe Skenes Langford Jenkins Clark Crews
  10. There's no reason to group the two together. Trading Lopez/Larnach and using that money on offense could keep payroll around $100 while being competitive-ish.
  11. Once Keashall is off the list, I also think it might be Abel. I don't think I would trade Abel 1 for 1 for the others. Tait could be second if he was sure to stick at catcher, but he's likely far away.
  12. Not a bad starting point. Yeah, I think some combo of Raya, Ohl, Adams, maybe SWR or Festa could open the season in the Twins bullpen, and KC could be the starting shortstop. Ober needs to stay in the rotation, he's been mostly good until this hip thing. I think they have options they'll use on Topa, Sands, and Tonkin, right? And they need a few AAA starters waiting. If they keep Ryan and Lopez, they could even contend a little if they find another good infielder and a super-util. I think Larnach gets traded, and they spend some FA money on IF, a catcher, and a couple bullpen guys.
  13. They stayed in the exact same lane. 2026's projected lineup and starters look exactly the same as they did yesterday, except for Correa, who wasn't the team leader he was being paid to be. They saved a bunch of money, and newbies will replace the 4 bullpen guys. I don't get the Varland trade at all, (they must like Rojas) but everything else makes sense in that lens.
  14. 2026 is the last year with this affordable core of Ryan-Ober-Duran-Jax-Jeffers, so it makes sense to try to contend again with offensive upgrades around the edges and a prospect or two mixed in. It also seems to be the Twins way to trade them at next year's deadline, before their arb numbers get too high, and hope for the best return-wise. 2025 is a year to try new things. Trade Paddack, let Jax try the rotation for a couple months. Bring up offensive prospects for the stretch run. Lewis has two options, he should be in AAA just like everyone else if he's not producing, but there's no reason to trade him. Keashall, E-Rod, Martin, and others could all produce a higher OPS and comparable defense right now. I like the ideas of trading Larnach and Bader, and extending Willi Castro. Trade Castro only if he brings back something good (like a Joe Ryan type of deal). Castro, Coloumbe, maybe Paddack or Topa could bring back someone with a big league shot. If anyone is David Ortiz on this version of the Twins, it's Matt Wallner. Plus he's a local.
  15. Not sure about this exact trade, but they'll have to trade two of Lopez/Ryan/Ober soon unless payroll goes up. Ryan/Ober's arb years may even be too expensive, there's a bunch of cheaper options, and this is how the Twins operate. Trades for young offense could happen if they are out of it at the deadline.

  17. The optimist in me says: - Most well-rounded team in the division - 4 dark horse Cy Young candidates (Lopez, Ober, Ryan, Jax) - Miranda has been as productive as Royce, and as good defensively - AAA rotation other teams would kill for - The AL is weak, the Yankees will finish 4th in the East and miss the postseason - The Twins have the talent to beat any AL team in a postseason series And the flip side: - Infield defense will be bad (Until Lee and Keashall are playing regularly) - They'll try to hit too many home runs - 425 million is a pretty big number - If Twins.tv doesn't bring in enough revenue, a sell-off could be looming - Injuries have already been mentioned a few times, right?
  18. I'm glad you mentioned the catcher/pitcher relationship. I think it's more valuable than people generally give it credit for (especially when posting negative Vasquez comments)
  19. guess we'll sign whichever AAAA players take venmo
  20. I think it takes something like Vasquez, SWR, Raya/Soto to get Cease (plus a Falvey lottery ticket). Factor in Vasquez salary relief, and that we can either trade him again at the deadline or get a comp pick when he leaves. I'd like our chances in October a lot more with that rotation.
  21. Zebby made his run with an otherworldly 10.55 career K/BB ratio in milb. (CJ is at 3.08. Prielipp 4.36 and Lee 2.15 have a pretty SSS) Another guy who has a shot and is not mentioned very often around here is Pierson Ohl, who had a great 2023 and has a career 6.11 K/BB.
  22. Absolutley. It's their best chance of having a dominant rotation. Varland can take his pen spot.
  23. Also, we no longer have to worry about who will be pitching in the playoffs.
