  1. Ugh. I don't recall a time when the Twins employed a more pathetic group of pinch hitters than Kreidler, Outman, Clemens. Punto and Celestino are Babe Ruth compared to this bench.
  2. I think a bigger red flag is his career minor league OPS, which is .772. Also, he worked hard through two knee surgeries to make the majors, he's not 'mentally fragile'.
  3. I think there's a spot for either E-Rod (not mentioned here) or Roden to start the year, even with Martin and Larnach on the roster. It would add some excitement. Outman isn't needed. Agreed that Arcia probably has a slight edge at SS right now but as ohters have said, hopefully something better pops up.
  4. I feel like Morris will be a bulk reliever on the shuttle most of the year, and the projected bullpen doesn't really have any of those guys. If they want a long reliever on opening day, I can see him starting the year with the Twins.
  5. If they really made an offer on Valdez, maybe they have money for a Joe Ryan extension. Prospects are always a crapshoot. Without much money on the books going forward, it's time to start thinking about keeping some good players. I also agree with the yesterday's article -- the Lopez injury makes us more likely to contend in 2027.
  6. He had that nasty head-to-head with Correa in May, and the Twins were mostly out of contention after that, I'm willing to assume he took a little off his closing to stay healthy. I think his numbers this year will determine if he has another year or two in center.
  7. I think coaching staff changes should be part of the grade. If so, it improves a little.
  8. I'm wondering if the timing has to do with the Athletic's low rating of the farm system...
  9. If national prognosticators view the Twins as an 82 win team, it's likely because: they are in the AL Central, have decent starters, a history of turning AAAA starters into a servicable bullpen, and a rep for acquiring value players - often unexpected and/or late in FA (Correa, Cruz, Maeda, Santana, Bader, etc)
  10. I think the July 'roster teardown' is overblown. They really only traded Duran, Jax, Varland. Everyone else was either a FA or had negative value. No reason for a near-elite bullpen without any leads to hold. I'd rather have some high-end prospects and #3 pick.
  11. If 'what's next' is trading Jeffers, they don't want to compete. If 'what's next' is finding a vet closer and a backup SS who isn't a black hole on offense, then maybe they do.
  12. I have E-Rod penciled into my opening day lineup. He can back up CF, and I don't see any reason for this team to keep Larnach around.
  13. Since guessing is fun: 1. Hill 2. 2026 #3 overall pick 3. Tait 4. Gonzalez 5. Rojas
  14. I think Ober and Sands are the most likely to sign modest Twins-y extensions, they've been consistent but not spectacular. Everyone else has more to prove.
  15. I like the Kim idea, but they have a bunch of OF who hit better than Lee, so Keashall is more valuable at 2B (if his D holds up). Signing Kim would mean spending less at 1B, so Keashall could play some there with Lee as the SS/2B backup.
  16. For those who think Correa's "leadership" wasn't worth $70 million, that one's a win also. The Twins have one of the top ranked farm systems, another really high draft pick coming in, and they still have to trade Larnach (and possibly others). Correa was in the way. Even Duran and Jax's arb years were about to get too expensive for the Twins. Why spend all your money on good late inning relievers when you can't hit? Who knows how Tait/Abel/Bradley turn out, but these are both cautious wins for me also. Varland is really the only trade where they gave up part of the core they could afford. He could have held the bullpen together somewhat. That one is a loss for me unless Rojas and Roden are good.
  17. The media rights money is the biggest issue. Redistribute that better so small teams can at least keep some of their homegrown players, and the capless structure should still work.
  18. Keep the rotation intact + spend $15M on two hitters (1B and util INF, but... not sure about Goldschmidt) + $6M on the bullpen + trade Larnach. Payroll is still under $110, and it's a team that has a chance to win the AL Central. We will have to hope/assume (big difference I know) that a couple hitters out of Lewis, Wallner, Lee, Martin will improve with new coaching.
  19. I have E-Rod penciled in as the starting right fielder in March. They'll need something to get the fans excited without starting Jenkins' clock.
  20. Winning 76 games/year with the 2023-24 Pirates is actually pretty good, that's more than I thought they won in a tough division. Not a perfect comparison, but how many games would the Rockies or White Sox have won with Skenes?
  21. I suppose deadline sellers know less about how desirable their prospects are, but Klein and Culpepper both seem to have a spot available. wow... there were ten worse post-deadline bullpens...
  22. About two weeks ago I had a vision that Torii was going to be the next manager. I should probably put some money on that...
