The whole team is playing like sheet except for ... Dozier and Berrios. Glad to know that the Team has no intention of keeping Dozier around after this season. Too bad Berrios can only pitch every 5th day. NO production from half your lineup and hit and miss production from the other half, plus only 1 good starter and no bullpen will get you 100 losses again.

I vote send Hildenberger down. He's had a rough spring and could gain some confidence back in AAA. Keep Moya and Kinley on the big roster to start the season. I don't understand the whole purpose of giving these guys the chance to prove themselves in spring training, perform better than others, and then they get sent down anyway. Are all organizations like this or is it just the Twins way?

If there is $2.5 million to throw away on Sanchez then why not use that EXTRA money that can be thrown away and add it to an offer for a good pitcher? These guys think quantity is better than quality. What a joke!

Why are we signing Detroit Has-beens? First Rodney now Sanchez.
  5. rv78
Guess Falvine is just really Terry Ryan in disguise. More dumpster diving. Really, what is the point of this signing? I was planning to go see them play this year but with acquisitions like this, it won't happen.

Why would a veteran DH/1B type player like Napoli even be on the radar? Just because he has some power and hits right-handed is no reason to even go down that road. We have a player that fits that mold already in Sano. Yes, it's a given he's suppose to be the everyday 3B but everything else points to him being a DH/1B. Let's forget the aging washed-up dumpster diving veterans for once. If we are going to add a right-handed bat, get someone really good or forget it. Geeze I'm tired of settling for the old cheap crap!

I would tend to agree with this as well. Pineda won't be ready mid-season. I wouldn't break the bank for Darvish. He's just not a stud pitcher. Only threw more than 200 Innings just once in his career and gives up his share of gopher balls. Yes, he has better career WHIP and ERA than Cobb or Lynn but I think he's just going to cost too much and throw in the draft picks and he really starts to get expensive.

    Who is Joe Maier?

If Sano, Buxton, Kepler can all improve at the plate over last year it will be HUUUGE! Less K's and more contact for all 3 of them please!

    Bye Bye Buddy

I totally agree. Not a big fan of Darvish and would rather see them go after Cobb or Lynn. They will give the Twins what they need and be much cheaper. Ervin Santana was not a top pitcher at the time they signed him and he has been a solid investment. Avoid the big money free agents that usually end up in busts and go after the next tier free agents like a Cobb or Lynn. I would not be very happy if they cannot afford to spend money on some of their young talent they have now tying them to longer term contracts if they overspend for Darvish. As far as I know he doesn't come with a guarantee that he'll take us to the WS.

Is there a pattern here? Rodney throws hard and has erratic control. Kinley throws hard and has erratic control...... Pineda throws hard and probably won't pitch in 2018. Okay, when were they going to improve the pitching staff?
  14. rv78
Another bust pick just like Pineda and Rodney. Not impressed with last years additions and so far this years have been ho hum... Is Terry Ryan still running the show?
  15. rv78
I had hoped for better....... Too old, too wild, too much of the same thing all over again.
  16. rv78
I have no problem with this signing if they still get a top tier pitcher or two for 2018. I will be very upset if they say they can't afford a Darvish or Arrieta or Archer if they can spend $10 Million on a pitcher that provides virtually little to no return in 2018 and for all we or anyone else knows may not be very effective in 2019 due to TJ surgery.
  17. rv78
In essence they are paying him $10 million for the 2019 season if he doesn't pitch in 2018. Seems like a lot for a pitcher coming off Tommy John and may end up in the bullpen. With that in mind then we can assume they will be willing to spend even more for a pitcher that can actually pitch in 2018.... Right?
  18. rv78
As for Darvish, he's not an ACE. He's a #2 like Santana. And like Santana he gives up too many gopher balls. After watching him in the World Series I hope they stay away from him. His 2 WS games reminded me too much of Santana's playoff game against the Yankees.

How many American born players get a 3 year deal of $12 Million right out the chute to play in the bigs? ZERO! And Thanks for the geography lesson. Maybe the right player to call out would have been Nishioki from JAPAN! He worked out real well didn't he. I'm pretty sure the intention was to refer to the international market in the area of Korea and Japan. Wonder why the guys in America that can't make it in MLB go over there to play? Because the competition isn't at the same level as here in the Majors. DUH! So why give any money away to a superstar from over there. He'll more than likely just be average here if he's really that good, or he'll just be another Park or Nishioki.

Has Vargas really gotten the chance to prove himself full-time? No! Kinda hard for some players to get in a groove when you only get to play twice a week. I think he deserves a shot to be the full-time DH slash 1B backup. For the money, he's a good candidate verses an expensive Free Agent. Let's give him one "last" or should I say his "first" true shot at being a full-time player even if it is at DH.

Escobar had 6 errors in 79 games at 3B, Frazier had 13 in 133 games, very comparable. Maybe Escobar's range isn't quite as good but Frazier isn't getting any younger so his range will continue to deteriorate.
  22. rv78
Not sure why anyone thinks Frazier would be a good acquisition. Just because he can play 3B if Sano can't is a poor reason. Escobar proved he is more than capable of filling in. In fact, in 2017 Escobar almost matched Frazier in Home Runs per AB, hit 40 points higher than Frazier, is just as capable defensively, is younger, and cheaper. As for Santana, why would the Indians let him go, especially to a division rival, and on top of that he isn't going to replace the Golden Boy at 1st or at DH. If Sano can't play 3B then you got too many bats vying for the 1B/DH spot. Bautista at this point would be another dumpster dive as his BA and HR stats have declined the last 3 years. He's toast. Better to spend money elsewhere.

Just hire Torii to be a coach and let's pass on all the crusty worn out veterans that will only take roster spots away from the young guys. I thought when Ryan left, this organization would quit dumpster diving for worthless players. Colon proved otherwise. Let's hope that is the end of it.
  24. rv78
CC Sabathia would never pitch for the Twins, he hates the Twins.
  25. rv78
He's good at throwing young players under the bus. I fully expect their #3 catcher to be playing in the outfield. And there will be no pressure on him to do well in the playoffs since the Tiggers are in full rebuild mode.
