  1. I loved watching him bafoo's and all. I like players that go all out every time they play. Rosario, Escobar, Austidillo, Buxton, Sano, Cruz, Suzuki, Berrios to name a few. There is more to baseball than just stats if you really love and enjoy watching a game. They certainly could have afforded to pay Rosario 9 million instead of going CHEAP with Cave.
  2. They let him go for nothing, is that correct? And they thought Cave would do a better job? I know he isn't a super star but he has better stats than any left fielder on the Twins. Robbie Grossman is up there to and there was tons of hate for him. Rosario has better stats than most of the Twins team. He is right behind Polanco.
  3. Any money spent on bringing Cruz back would be worth it. He can hit and is a great presence for the team overall. They can afford him and should not cheap out. Many people like exciting players and don't look at numbers. He is an exciting player as is Sano, Polanco and maybe Donaldson. The new AAA guys should be brought up so we non-stat fans can get to know them and get excited again. I did not mention Buxton. I think it would be a fatal error to ticket sales to trade him this off-season but at next season's trade deadline they will need to trade him. Unless a miracle happens I think the will be gone. They may up what they offered before but they won't go as high as needed and cannot afford to wait until the 2022 off season and let him walk. Oh such a dilema, we waited so long for Berrios and Buxton the big stars and they added Cruz and Donaldson to make it even more exciting but sadly it did not happen and now Berrios is gone.
  4. I just wrote and almost opposite opinion. Fun how different people see things. The one thing that jumped out in your comment was the always competitive Central Division. I don't see it that way. Seems to me it is the easiest division with only one team over .500 and a good 12+ games out of the WC for all teams.
  5. Beside the record (so sad), some of the other frustrations that add on to the disappointment in no particular order: Lack of a consistent line-up. Maybe an old fashioned fan but it is fun to know the players. Besides Buxton and Sano I don't think I would recognize any other player if I walked right past them. Ability to watch games (greedy owners IMO). I have DishTv so that is not totally their fault but you would think the greedy owners could have stepped in to prevent Dish and others dropping Bally's. Nothing from the Pohlad's this season that I can remember but I can't read but one article on the Star Tribune and now the Pioneer press has joined it. Watching the news this morning and granted it is football Monday but not a mention about the Twins winning or wrapping up their season. Trading away Berrios and I am going to say the upcoming trade of Buxton. I don't think it will happen in the off-season because it may have a huge effect on season ticket sales. Not looking forward to a 10 year rebuild again. Can't even say "wait until next season" as this was that season. Edit to add: I did find something from the Jim Pohlad but it only made me feel worse. What team was he watching? Charley Walters: Jim Pohlad still rates Twins’ brain trust ‘A-plus’ – Twin Cities
  6. A lot will be determined in the next 3 hours in the Al
  7. Seems like we get the players we want/have been waiting for and so many posters love to post the negatives instead of enjoying the great players. Granted this is a small sample of fans but most fans love the presence of a great player and don’t care about numbers. They love seeing the amazing talent and the possibility of Berrios pitching a no-hitter or Buxton speeding around the bases or making a game winning catch. I think the Twins did themselves in with how they treated him with the service time issue. Also money is probably a huge factor but followed closely by by the possibility of contending most years. They are good enough to be wanted and signed by these types of teams. This has to have been the most exciting time of Berrios’ career. The best players want to have at least a shot of going to the WS or far in the playoffs. This most likely isn’t going to happen during Buxton’s best years.
  8. He is the only one left to watch. I do like Sano and Polanco but the team is "eh" without Buxton. Seeing Berrios play in the biggest game of his life and what they did to Buxton delaying his free agency by a year was a huge mistake and pretty sure he won't let the door kick him in the a$$.
  9. I am Toronto. It is fun to feel like this about each game. Berrios was amazing last night
  10. I agree with what you say but I feel like many teams would want him. Won't have to give up much but who doesn't a power hitter?
  11. Like who? He is probably the best we have or can get on this team. Why let him go? He certainly has move value than others. Kepler needs to go if Sano needs to go.
  12. Is there any accountability to the medical staff for this and all the other injuries?
  13. What would you do if you were Buxton? If the Twins were to match or go a little above a Boston, NYY, Dodgers....where would you sign? I would take less money to go to a team that puts it out to go all the way every year instead of sticking with a team of consistent 10 year rebuilds that never really happen. I am so excited to see Berrios pitch tomorrow I can feel the playoff excitement. I was not as "attached" to Cruz but it would be fun to see the Rays follow the Buccaneers and Lighting with a WS title. So hoping for Toronto or Tampa Bay to go to the WS.
  14. IMO, they will trade him before they have to pay him more. Very very sad! I like him as a player and when Buxton goes he will be all we have left from our "contending" (LOL) team. We have been or already starting another 10 years of rebuilding so why not let him go to a real contender.
  15. IMO, the Twins are one of the best spoiler teams ever! When a good team is in the play-off hunt (Toronto) they seem to win.
  16. Does anyone else worried that this week will be the last week we see Buxton in a Twins jersey or will it be next years trade deadline?
  17. 1. Medical staff? 2. Waiting too long to bring players up. Seems at least with pitchers they have already or now have injuries? I don't know if it would help without a good medical staff. 3. Berrios leaving is going to have a long term effect.
  18. It really does matter to Toronto! He is in the top for most categories and #1 in inning pitched for the AL! He is #5 in ERA.
  19. To me he is the kind of pitcher we have been waiting on for 10 years and a pitcher the Twins either can't "afford" or can get to come to MN. When will we see another Berrios type of pitcher? His work ethic off season is great and he doesn't seem to be out for month's at a time with a bruised finger.
  20. Someone above mentioned less than 6 innings per start so that is what got me going on Baldelli pulling him to soon.
  21. To the Berrios "dislikers",,,, The Twins are so loaded with pitching they don't need a pitcher who who gives up a total of 4 hits over 6 innings right? Glad he is on a team where his team and fans appreciate what he does. He got a standing O in Toronto today and was the winning pitcher.
  22. How much of that was on Baldelli not letting him go longer or pitch his way out of jam?
  23. Loving the Berrios / Buxton match up!
  24. I know stats are important and the people on this board are crazy good at understanding stats. I am more the average fan who enjoys the players more than their stats. Berrios is so intense and such a hard worker I think staying with the Twins probably wasn't in his best interest because he needs to be on a competitive team. I love when Austidillo plays because he isn't bad and his love of the game is pure and you can see that on the field and it was one a few bright spots this season. Buxton is pretty good with the potential to be amazing (I think this could be his last season as a Twin), Donaldson and Sano bring the hopes of HR's and it is exciting. I wish we had Cruz as our DH, Rosario in CF, Polanco at 2nd and Escobar at SS. That would be a fun team to watch on an everyday consistent basis. I don't like all the mix and match and never knowing who is playing. We will need to start bringing up the youngsters to fill in for those who have left or leave. Kepler is like watching paint dry but I don't know what he does for the team overall except for the on stat I get and that is average. Kind of got off on a rant, I miss Escobar, Rosario, Cruz an Berrios. Missed Hunter horribly too.
