  1. Sadly true, unfortunately the Twins only have 3 guys I have any level of trust to put out there in the 7th, 8th, or 9th of a close game.
  2. Can this finally be the end of Belisle as a Twin?
  3. I really hope the Twins pass on McKay. As a pitcher he looks like a guy with #3 upside which to me isn't what I want out of the 1st overall pick. At the top of the draft I'd go for the guy with the highest ceiling which is pretty clearly Greene.
  4. Dyson traded to the Giants. I hate to miss out on a reliever with potential, but I was a little scared of the Twins trying to fix him while on the major league roster.
  5. In mid March Perkins was throwing in the upper 70s, two and a half months later it sounds like he's up to the mid 80s. He's made some progress, but at this point my confidence is low that we'll ever see Perkins back on the mound for the Twins.
  6. He's a guy who is worth taking a gamble on if the prospect cost is virtually nothing. I can't see giving up a real prospect to acquire a guy who has been terrible in both results and peripheral numbers. While $3.5M isn't a huge amount it is still enough to be annoying if the Twins end up eating his salary (he would be the Twins highest paid reliever after Perkins).
  7. I was wondering what was up with Bard in AA. He's got a crazy 41 strikeouts in 25 innings with only 8 walks. Did he finally get healthy enough to reach his potential (he was drafted 10 picks after Berrios)? I was curious if anyone had any insight on why he's had a jump in strikeouts this season.
  8. It seems like Kintzler can never have a worry free save opportunity. Granted he's been successful, but I'd really like to see more stress free 9th innings.
  9. It's mind boggling that Pujols has 4 seasons left on his contract that are all #27M or more a year.
  10. Rosario looks good, touched 95 with the fastball and showed a nasty slider. It's great to see a reliever called up who actually has good stuff.
  11. I was hoping the Twins could keep a big enough lead that Rosario might get his first appearance on the mound. Unfortunately, 5 runs probably isn't enough cushion for Molitor to put him out there.
  12. Based on how well he was throwing I thought this would be the first time this season Gibson would finish 6 innings. It really seems like Gibson can never be just a little bit bad in an inning, once things start to go bad it just snowballs.
  13. If Meyer could have gone one more scoreless inning against the Twins I believe he would have gotten his ERA for the season under Santiago's. It will be interesting to see how Meyer does with an extended opportunity at the the big league level. I was always a bit frustrated that the Twins were unwilling to give him a long look, especially in the years when the team was terrible.
  14. So it's June and the Twins top 4 relief prospects (Jay, Chargois, Burdi, Reed) have pitched a grand total of 21.2 innings with none of them currently active. At some point the front office might have to accept that the bullpen upgrades from the minors we've been waiting a few years for may not happen.
  15. Coming into the season if someone told me Randy Rosario would be called up before any of Jay, Chargois, Burdi, Reed, Hildenberger, or Melotakis I would have never believed it.
  16. The first reliever who is a legitimate prospect to be promoted this year. I'm somewhat surprised that they past over Melotakis who is older with more time spent at AA.
  17. I wonder how much velocity he's recovered. A couple of months ago he was topping out at 78 mph which was not promising.
  18. Like every other high end reliever prospect in the upper minors he's had injury issues. Just one of Burdi, Chargois, Reed, or Jay being ready to be called up would be great about now.
  19. Pressly is a complete mystery to me. He has a big fastball and a good breaking pitch, yet he can't seem to find any consistency. I really hope a stint in Rochester gets his confidence back and fixes whatever the problem is because he should be a much better pitcher than we've seen.
  20. The twins bullpen collapse has been like watching a train wreck. The bullpen went from middle of the pack in March/April to dead last in ERA at the end of May.I'm not sure what the solution is at this point, especially since the team seems reluctant to call up anybody who might be considered a real prospect.
  21. That's a really weird generalization based on my discussing a single specific trade situation.
  22. I don't think there is an equivalence in situations. Everyone in the league could easily look at the Twins roster/record and deduce that Dozier was available, it just made sense. De Leon on the other hand is a guy that would rarely be made available if his current team believed he was as good as the rankings said he was.
  23. The fact that the Dodgers seemed more than willing to trade De Leon left me with questions about his future. When a team pushes one player as a trade chip you have to think they believed his perceived value might not hold up much longer.
  24. Of the top tier minor league relievers most have been out all season (Jay, Chargois, and Reed have a combined 3 appearances) with the last guy in the group recently going down for the year (Burdi). The next tier is where we need to start to see some movement. Melotakis, Hildenber, Rosario, and Curtis all have been fairly good and some acceleration in promotion seems in order due to the collapse of the bullpen for the big league club.
  25. This is the mother of all bullpen meltdowns. So far 3 outs, 11 hits, 3 walks, and 13 runs.
